  • Those triplet, one-handed harmonics at around 5:55, can anyone else play this? How?

  • i really enjoyed her performance. it held my attention throughout. simply amazing!!! : )

  • Holy Smoke! What planet did she drop out from? I've wasted 45 years studying and performing on the classical guitar only to be blown away by a 15 year old kid. What a player!!!

  • Meraviglioso!!!!

  • are you guys retarded?

  • @ShellInYourHead LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • this is so clean, its unreal.

  • I have a better one:

You say Lady Gaga, I say Ludwig Von Beethoven

You say Hannah Montana, I say Niccolo Paganini

You say Owl City, I say Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

You say Jonas Brothers, I say Frédéric François Chopin

You say Justin Bieber, I say Franz Liszt

You say Taylor Swift, I say Antonio Lucio Vivaldi

Hardly anyone listens to classical music regularly. There are only a few of us left. Let us make life the best as the intellectual few whom appreciate real talent.

  • @ja0401 you forgot bach.....

  • @duderock009 okay....*ahem*

You say Lil Wayne, I say Johann Sebastian Bach

    ;)

  • realy a good music doll.

  • 2.14 awesome fun trying to play that by ear. what a riff!

  • 1.46 awesome fun trying to play that by ear. what a riff!

  • I respect technique, but I think lifting it above expression holds classical music back. Most classical music is mostly a tech-demo of skill, and less the creation of beauty.

I wish I didn't have to skip 75% of the 'classical guitar' vids on youtube. I certainly can't jump around a scale like these amazing people can, but that doesn't mean I want to listen to scales over and over.

'Mixing scales' simply does not make music IMHO.

  • @doubleKlutch

Although I didn't skip this one... She seems to through enough variation in there that I can overlook the occasional scale dance.

  • @doubleKlutch Did you even study this piece.... Read Tarrega's intentions for writing this piece... besides there are lots of expressiveness in this piece she is playing, why are you even saying that there isn't much expression, there is just the right amount, great dynamics, articulation, some good use of rubato and change of timbre, no less, no more. Pleasing to the ears and to the heart. Playing with good technique dosn't mean it is not expressive!(This is most people's problem)

  • @CNFrostXY You might notice I retracted further into the piece. You might also notice that it was a comment regarding most classical-guitar-available-on-youtube, which I still stand by.

I also still sand by the early scales in the beginning as being uninspired filler.

And I disagree that an audience has to 'study' music in order to appreciate it. If it takes a trained musician to 'understand' the piece, then it fails to connect with the roots of the human experience, and is.. only technical.

  • @doubleKlutch sadly the truth is most pieces will take some study into the piece, not neccessarily in the musicality of it though, but the life of the composer who wrote it or even at the time he wrote the piece or the reason he wrote the piece, these are what the common audiences need the most. while for musicians, perhaps more specific technical things can be related to stories, and the use of different frequencies can also contribute. They are parts of human psyche.

  • @CNFrostXY Sadly, the truth is, most pieces are not good enough to be powerful without studying. Study is a crutch, and is evidence only of classical music's insistence to focus on technique over emotional delivery. I'm not saying classical music is never powerful, only that it often dilutes it's emotional power with superfluous, gaudy, pretentious complexity.

This piece is not so bad, so it's the wrong video to be having this argument. I invite you to have the last word; I'm done.

  • @doubleKlutch Mahler.

  • @doubleKlutch I think you're both right. A piece does not need to be studied to be appreciated. However if you want to fully understand the piece, & appreciate *more* in a different way, studying is needed. However, I believe you are quite wrong on classical music valuing technique over emotion. Classical composers used "expression markings", denoting the feeling with which the certain part should be played with. These markings are purely emotional notes that tie into the complexity of the piece

  • DON"T SMILE OR COMMUNIST CHINA WILL WHIP YOU

  • sei unica

  • she is good, but remember--tarrega did the original--probably even better than this.......

  • @dondorward2010 Well it's not how good he played it its the fact he composed it I think most people see the significance in that.

  • I think is incredible someone can play so good being so young. This girl must have loosen her childhood because of this...

  • @jgilp no in an documentary about her on a chinese tv channel she said that her parents were not down with the fact that she played guitar and that she struggled for her dream.

  • @jgilp Just please tell which famous musicians in the world HAD a "normal" childhood. On the one hand you enjoy the music and are fasinating how talented they are, on the other hand it seems that you feel sorry for them because they lose their childhood.

So what's your point? I mean you hope that a person can play at this level without sacrificing something? Have you ever heard of "No pay no gain?" I don't understand you...........

You are free to state your opinion. But please! Not this naive.

  • @vampierkill It seems good to me only if the musician has chosen this way freely (and it seems she was). Not if the child is bound to study. I'm sure there are parents like this.

  • @jgilp Yes lots of musicians chose to play an instrument but they do have to be comitted to practice it nearly all day long. You can't expect "Genius" in this real world who can just pick up and play without the work, it's only in fantasy stories. I'll give you an example if you can't understand, if you want to pursue in research in astronomy, you have to work for it extremely hard, compete with others, and have barely any free time. Same thing...

  • @vampierkill

where is your childhood now? Do you have clear memory?

I think anything is equally good

  • @pzhangd "where is your childhood now?"

My childhood is gone away and I cannot make music except MP3.

My memory is weak and will soon be cleared too.

  • just impressive!!

  • 7 people are just jealous : ).

  • I love your play, Li Jie. Keep Up !!!

  • this is insane!

  • she make it look so easy..

  • Is you Emo or Goth?

  • 7 teabaggers don't like this, and think it should be played on banjo.

  • I'd love to see her jamming with Chet Atkins..

  • DDDDDDDDDDD: I hate my fingers now.

  • omg! Good!!!!!!!OoO

  • video is breaking up.

  • So lovely and talented. I hope her life will be filled with joy.

  • Well done!

  • terrega and his fukin runs dude was amazing

  • Amazing.

  • Ya what in the world was going on with that drum sound, freaked me out.

  • @MammaleousMaximus Who is VanHalen

  • also if anyone had a link on how to accomplish that snare sound near the ten min mark could u plz let me know :)

  • Somtimes this soung remind me of super mario. Copycat bastards. She is absolutely amazing, whatever it is gift or determination.

  • Amazing ! Clean and perfect interpretation. Thank's Lie Jie:)

Of course .....greaaaaaat HOMAGE for the unforgetabble genius Francisco Tárrega...

  • what's wrong with this girl!!! she's just not from this planet

  • @jmr1410

Yes, she is from this planet but aliens may come and snatch her away.

  • 9:38 I have never ever seen that done on a guitar before. She can even get a snare drum sound on the strings. Unreal.

  • That scratching sound on the bass strings is not "perfectly clean". Open up your ears.

  • @SoullessOpeth I wanna see you post a video in youtube with at least one scratch less then Li Jie's interpretation and about the same quality. Then I can say that you can criticize her as much as you want. But so far, I bet she has one of the best and cleanest interpretations today and an interpretation far better than yours. Well, that's until you prove urself better than her.

  • @bananapeelificationz I didn't criticize anything, it's just that the word "perfect" is completely subjective. No one ever will master a guitar, ever, therefore, no one will ever play perfectly. I hate that word. Nothing's perfect in this world. I stay firm on my comment. Open up your ears, people. Nobody can master any instrument.

  • @SoullessOpeth

You only hate the word perfect because you have low-self esteem. Be as perfect as you can be... She played it perfect. Why hate the word? Nothing's perfect right, nothing is an utopia. If you say no one can master any instrument, then fuck you sir. Because I'll practice/play the guitar/piano till the day I die... A master of playing, doesn't mean perfect, not at all. Just they've mastered their technique. If you do play guitar and say you'll never master it, then good for you.

  • @SoullessOpeth I have listened to this song well in excess of 50 times and I usually just sit and absorb. I have NO idea what you are talking about with 'scratching sound' on the bass strings.

She misses a small number of her pinch harmonics, but I can't find a damn thing wrong with it anywhere else. You must be dreaming.

  • guitar dreams

  • you are the best at what you do and dont let anyone tell you otherwise

  • Just awsome like Tarrega taught her himself.

  • She's the one who inspired me to play this piece~

  • magnifica

  • I don't think there is a clip of Li Jie where I haven't had to re-assemble my jaw at the end of it. I love Tarrega and this version is second to none. Beautiful piece!

Wouldn't mind seeing her play 'Estudio Brillante'. It would put the nail in my guitar playing coffin lol (joke - she's an inspiration!)

  • Nothing can describe my words of joy as to see talent being played at such level.

I stand in awe at the performance.

  • I died inside at 6:10 :-)

  • Wow, this is the most amazing piece I've heard so far...brilliant, she makes it look like it's another day at the office...even showing off every now and again. I've never heard a snaredrum-effect being played on a guitar...

  • this video doesn't inspire me at all. it makes me want to throw my guitar out the window

  • haha I know how you feel

  • better than Segovia!!!!

  • 9:35 is the greatest guitar trick I've ever seen.

  • dude for real that was BADASS, i love the snare effect!

  • at 09.35 she begins to play guitar and drums, fantastic player and a fantastic piece.

  • Beautiful! Thank you very much!

  • all of you are liers nobody except her can play this piece... sooo shut up! arre locoooooo

  • i can play this song also..but not fast as her

  • She incorporated so many guitar playing technique in this one piece of music, even with a drum, it just blow my mind.

  • yes i think i will learn this peace i think it will help a lot in music

  • @789vbc Lol, everyone is amazed with the snare drum effect, but heck! so am I =)

  • @789vbc It was Tarrega who incorporated all these techniques, not her.

  • @789vbc it wasnt her, it was the composer francisco tarrega

  • @789vbc Haha you are right, that was what Tarrega intended if you ever studied this piece...

  • Exuse me for uncorrect comparison, but fresh genius of Li Jie is closely by piano genius Aimi Kobajasy.

  • very funny

  • This video should be made obligatory for guitar students, to learn guitar tehnique! Perfectly "clean" interpretation.

  • @zvonko57 It is in fact a demonstration video for students.

  • I love you. Marry me! Insane guitar technique. How does she make that drum sound?

  • i'm sure F.Tarrega(wherever he might be) is smiling...this's the way he wants gran jota to be performed. bravo li jie and thanks PAYPALPAK for posting!

Gracias Li Jie

    Edgardo Misiones Argentina

  • the best guitarist in the world of all times...

she's so calm and relaxed while doing anything...

  • nothing short of spectacular!

lots of respect and grattitude :D

  • This is so very incredible...God Bless her...sharing her talents w/ all of us...

    Bravo...

  • this is probably my favorite version of gran jota largely due to the pacing. Some of the others feel rushed, but this just has a lovely pace that plays directly to the musicality of the piece.

    delightful!

  • I agree 110%...you couldn't put in any better than that...

  • truley sent by god...i wonder if you could get tickets to see her i mean...she must be famous surely.i would swim the oceans to hear her do that live xxxx

  • Unfortunately she does not seem to be on a track of recording albums or doing concerts. The fact that no one has managed her international career by now is just mind-blowingly incomprehensible.

  • your a very well versed man and i thankyou for you reply,im so captivated by her if by chance i win BIG on the lotto i will make it my duty to bring this songbird out of her cage and give her the freedom she deserves and ile expect no less from you and others who can see wat we'er all missing ~mentalmonk~

  • interesting comment, i am wondering the same..

  • really good poker music actually lol. no but honestly she is incredibly good ive been playing ten years and im not even a patch on her skill level.

  • rakıyla gidermi bu ya

  • the only thing more beautiful is the player.....

    bravo

  • Tone is warm and amazing

  • my lady you are absolutely amazing i just wish i had half of your skill. i'm a classical guitar player myself so tottaly appreciate it..A proud Kurdish girl. ,

  • stunning

  • I prefer the version of Rafal Aguirre.

  • Absolutely transporting - wonderful. Thank you Li. Love and light, Nigel.

  • That was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen done on a guitar, and I've seen some crazy ass guitar playing before.

  • 480

  • a genius.

  • I'm sure Tarrega would be proud of Her.

  • different guitar touch than su meng, but also talented and really brillant. wish to see her in morocco but i can dream... i'd also like to see her performing with and only with meng; that would be...astonishing...

  • Hehe Nice ^_^

  • So many different techniques incorporated in one piece!! Only a true virtuoso could pull this off. And she does it with finesse!

    Little girl, BIG sound!

  • OMG!! 5:53!!

  • Beautiful

  • loll

  • Haha, Li Jie was just 14 when this was recorded. Just unbelievable.

  • Gran Jota (Tarrega)

    Tarrega = Writer.

  • Post = Obvious.

  • 5:52 in the video is pretty sick

  • I'm brazilien and I met lie for the youtube. Without a doubt it is treated of a cut jewel, however ignored at many countries, mainly in South America.

I would like to communicate with her

  • Sorprendente!

  • Escellent technique and interpetation of Gran Jota I give it A+.

I would buy this and other music from Li if I find out how.

    :) Chris Lazarides

  • soo nice. it totaly relaxed me.

  • Wow !

  • It's amazing....

  • Close your eyes, don't let the appearance fools you :)

Do we Asian people look like we don't have any feeling? Or just because we don't have blond hair or blue eyes?

I'm not Chinese, I don't speak Chinese, and I don't really like Chinese people, but I really love this guitarist and her "boring" style :)

    Li Jie, you rock!

  • Pepe Romero plays it better!

  • i agree. he's a lot older, though.

  • its like a lullaby in parts, im falling asleep! (in a good way lol)

  • Lost for words realy,is wow enough.Tarrega will have big smile on his face if he watch this lol.

  • He's been dead for nearly 100 years.

  • Iknow hes dead lol,,I mean if he is watching from wherever dead people go !..

  • Who is the luthier of her guitar? This is a fine instrument.

  • russian guitar

  • What is the name of the Russian luthier?

  • q rrikooo :D

  • She plays the guitar excellent. Ella Toca la guitarra excelente./Congratulations Felicitaciones. No la pierdan de vista Do not loose sight of her. She has an extraordinary future. Ella tine un futuro extraordinario

  • I really appreciate female guitarist. They can perform as great as men can. Her hand size is small, but she can play it well though. Really impressed. =)

  • IMPRESIONANTE

  • FANTASTICO

  • eccellente esecuzione bravissima i miei complimenti
