Well, unless this is a new version, she said this was recorded at 5am in her kitchen on her ibook with the crappy ibook microphone. It was basically for shits.
i love this cover is wonderful song by both the Beatles and the Beautiful Emilie Autumn :3
one thing i really like about her is even if some of her stuff is a little weird like the noise in the background on this one, its still her own style and i love her style theres not a song of hers i dont like :) i love her originality and all of it just so artistic what is there not to love about her.
I think my horse is a fan of Emilie's too! A few weeks ago I was riding him, and began singing this song to him (It was the only Beatles song I could think of at that time), and my voice is pretty similar to EA's. Out of nowhere he started trotting happily across the field. It was wonderful!
I'm a huge EA-fan but also a big Beatles-fan and I didn't like this version at all. But it doesn't matter. I'll just listen and love 99% of everthing else she has made. ♥
her own music is better of course. I mean honestly, covers cannot beat her phenomenal songs. That would obsurd, right? She's just having fun and messing around by making covers---she likes to do it, so let it be. Doesn't have to be anyone's, or my, cup of tea.
I really like her covers. I've heard lots of random covers, but no one can do 'em like EA do - because she is not just copy the songs. She add her style to it.
yeah, her covers are amazing because she makes the song all her own at the same time paying respects to the original creator by doing so. some people were very angry about her covers for ignorant reasons. :) but i meant well with the comment. i mean "having fun" as in she does it because she likes to.
This is a riot! Obviously, her musical reality doesn't ever permit something so optimistic as this song to exist in any other form than a parody. The very skeletal musical accompaniment--the silly, squirty, depressed basketball drumming--is the only morbid element of the piece, and yet it wins over the sappy lyrics, which though quite pleasantly harmonized, are squashed out of mind by the drumming.
i love her voice. the background sounds weird though. maybe if she'd have done something with her excellent violin skills? still not bad. not my fave emile autumn piece but still ok.
@blackroseblade It would be overdone with the violin, I think... it's perfect, just like it is^^ The text ist simple and powerful, just like the background she chose. So, in my opinion it's perfect <3
I like it. Don't love, because The Beatles are my favorite band and if you do a cover you really ought to do one with more music BUUUUT I love Emilie as well and it wasn't bad. I was able to listen to the entire thing. 3*
@GoatBlaat And we'll wear miniature top hats with white lace tied to them with black satin sun umbrellas and we'll wear Victorian dresses and speak with a British accent!
I love the Beatles, and I've recently started to like Emilie. It sound like a good cover, somehow the beat reminds me of a Young Marble Giants song, though Emilie's voice has nothing to with Alison Statton's. It's still pretty much well done.

thats sad, I know how suckish depression is, I suffer from it sometimes too, its not fun, it feels like it eats at your insides and you feel empty and alone even when surrounded by people.
Yes, her music is done in a morbid perspective, yet that doesn't make her any more or less of a happy person. She just writes about what she knows, so of course, she's written about the past thins in her life. And yes, Emilie is manic depressive and was raped when she was younger, and some songs are based on that. But despite her dark music that contains a morbid outlook, past that she's quite a kind, happy person. Music is just how she deals with past experiences.

Hm. True. But I guess it all depends on the amateur, eh? However, Emilie is far from an amateur, as you agree. I'm not saying it's her BEST, but I am saying that in MY opinion she did it WELL. For going from her usual stuff, to the Beatles, I think she did it well. But, again, that's just me.
Well thought out, and interesting points, but didn't quite answer my question. I thank you deeply for maintaining a tone of respect during this discussion, but I cannot help but ask again for your personal opinion. I would not consider listening to this again if it was amateur due to the discord between the mood and genre. I was very disappointed by the said. I greatly support covers and changing the songs in ways that you prefer, but this is a rather objectionable alteration.
Well, personally, if the cover sounded like this, I'd probably still like it. Whether done by an amateur or not. The whole point, in my opinion, of doing covers is to change their mood, is to completely rework them. Take Marilyn Manson's cover of 'Sweet Dreams'. That was a super 80's synth song, and he took it and turned it into HIS genre. It turned out excellent. Now, I'm not saying that this cover is quite as phenomenal, however, Emilie essentially did what Manson did, but differently.
well she doesn't want ot be labeled as just one thing. It's very limiting to her as an artist and it doesn't allow her to show her talent at very view of the spectrum, so to speak.
If she wanted to expand her achieved genres per say, then she would want to perform this song in it's own genre (Or something similar to or comparable with...). By playing this in such a way, she proves that she is stuck in one genre and therefore she is doing the absolute opposite of what you have suggested. Interesting theory, and perhaps a possibility with poor execution?
you actually have a good point there. I didn't see it from that perspective... I personally thought this song was set apart in its own way from her Opheliac styles and Enchant styles so I did't see the cohesiveness that you saw.
As a muscian, Id say labels are wonderfull. But you should only label something after its done. And I do think you can label a muscians style, but have in mind that such stuff is very flexible. usually, i'd tell ppl to shut the fuck up for saying something like that against emilie, but unfortunately I'd have to agree...it's just a bad angle for her i guess.
It happens to everyone... even dare I say it... Emilie Autumn
naja das lied ist irwie etwas komisch.... die hintergundmusik ist völlig anders als bei anderen liedern von EA...... aber naja, es gibt von jeder band gute UND schlechte songs^^ nobody's perfect^^

Want to get EA on the radio?! I certainly do!
.
I think EA fans across North America should get organized & call radio stations on a specific day & time to request the SAME song by EA.
.
Visit my channel for details about voting. Give this a thumbs up if you think it’s a good idea & so other fans will see it.

usually, i'd tell ppl to shut the fuck up for saying something like that against emilie, but unfortunately I'd have to agree...it's just a bad angle for her i guess.
It happens to everyone... even dare I say it... Emilie Autumn

the bad side of her music is that the songs can't last forever.

Thank you again Zephyr!
This is really cool... I hadn't listened to any of her covers before, but I might look at all the others, just because of this one.
