  • I think when I was replacing it the lcd screen stayed on the digitizer insted of comming off with the other peice now. How do I get the Lcd screen off the digitizer?

  • I dropped my lg g2x today and the screen is cracked,The phones touch has no response for example as I press the upper lock button the phone lights up and all the color is there however when i go to type in my pin lock there is no response and i cannot unlock it..What is it that i need to repair the outer screen or the phones touch sensors..I would be fine using the phone with the cracked outer screen if it would work and just fix it to where i can use it again..Please Help!!

  • how much would the glass itself cost?

  • at 3.00 how is the thin black piece at the top removed, help because i cant remove the second piece to get to the motherboard

  • @RockzUrSocz This is just the connector at 2:25. Once released you can can remove the motherboard and the cable will be UNDER the motherboard, instead of being up as shown in the video at 3:00. (This was an editing error, but the process is still shown)

  • my screen phone is broken it work but the glass is a mess ...do i have to buy

LG T-Mobile G2X P999 Touch Screen Digitizer Replacement ? just for the glass ?

  • @TheClass20104ever Correct, the touch screen digitizer is the outer glass.

  • @RepairsUniverse thanks :D

  • So my daughter shattered the screen, everything works so I take I just have to replace that. I noticed you say that even though adhesive is not required, it is suggested. Given that it is only used in the final part of the video, something that wouldn't apply in my case, where would I apply it?

  • @ultranol1983 It is highly suggested, as the old adhesive is often partially removed and makes for a bad "seat", allowing dust and dirt to enter and get under the screen. New adhesive is suggested for nearly all replacement touch screens. Check out our "Touch Screen Assembly" video in our channel, it will walk you through the steps of applying new adhesive.

  • @RepairsUniverse thanks for the reply. I did watch the video you mentioned. My question is more to why it is necessary since there seems to be no adhesive between the parts I would disassemble. If I would apply any adhesive, I would think it would go between the parts that were separated at 3:54 of this video, but again, I'm not sure because it seems there was no adhesive there before.

  • @ultranol1983 No problem. I see what you are saying now. No, no adhesive is required at 3:54 area in the video, however it is needed when you remove the glass touch screen digitizer from the front housing. This is not shown in the video. You will need to heat the front housing and with a hair dryer or heat gun for roughly 45 seconds on medium heat. From there you can use a safe pry tool to remove the touch screen from the housing and apply fresh adhesive on the new screen.

  • @RepairsUniverse hi there. So, back to this again... you said I would need the adhesive to remove the glass from the front housing (and I guess to replace it afterwards with a new glass). But then, the photo on the product page makes it look like the glass already comes with the housing (item 1-Y-0082)... why would I have to remove and replace only the glass if it comes already together with the part?

  • @ultranol1983 I believe this image was our original stock which did include the front housing. As our description states, it is just the touch screen digitizer, no front housing would be included.

  • @RepairsUniverse thanks again.

  • @ultranol1983 No problem at all!

  • @RepairsUniverse Strangely enough, when I had it repaired (badly, that's why I'm thinking about doing it myself now) there are small dents between the housing and the glass, what makes me believe that the guy who repaired it actually changed the glass only. Just wanted to clarify this before I go on with the purchase. As always, thank you for your help!

  • @ultranol1983 Yes, that is likely caused by just replacing the digitizer and not heating the adhesive properly.

  • i need help the video at 2.:52 . i ordered the screen digitizer replacment and it comes with a big strip. and in thevideo it magically shows up skipping the process.im stuck here. where do i put this strip? do i tuck it under the screen, im confused?

  • I used this video to replace a shattered screen, it worked perfectly. As previously mention there is nothing in there about the light source indicator. more details would be great to. More than once I was going, HUH?! But thanks allot for the video. saved my phone!

  • @Golmar88 Great work! Thank you for the suggestion. Glad the video helped out!

  • be careful. this is not a perfect video. the light source indicator is not in this video at all! so when it falls out do not be confused. just put it back in before you click the case back together or you will be in trouble. also, you do not get the metal casing if you buy the glass as is advertised, you only get the glass, and you have to remove glass glue and reapply with glue, very easy to bend the metal casing up. i barely got mine to work but it does so happy, but will have low resale value

  • Hey Repairsuniverse, i dropped my phone and the screen did the spiderman crack -_- im not sure what to buy because I really dont want to have to deal with adhesives I just want to get to the last step where i remove the motherboard and the digitzer at exactly 4:00 minutes and i just want to switch it out screw it back in reconnect the cables and be good to go. what do i need to buy?

  • @youvbeenmindfucked The G2X's are very popular right now and all of our touch screens with housing have been sold out. I doubt we will have any more available anytime soon either. We do have the normal touch screens available and can walk you through the adhesive process very easily. It may only take another 10 minutes and will be identical to the replacement digitizers with housing. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • my screen shattered today. the glass just broke but the touch still works. what do i need to replace my screen? im scared ill break something in the phone haha

  • @accountwhereiam18 Sorry to hear. You will need to replace the glass touch screen digitizer, assuming the display is working properly. Following our take apart guide carefully will insure a safe repair is made. Replacement screens can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @RepairsUniverse well this video guide is very helpful. unfortunately, the digitzer is 80 bucks =[. i dont have the money atm

  • @accountwhereiam18 Yes it is a more expensive model, the prices may come down eventually, but the demand is very high for them at the moment and they are difficult to get a hold of.

  • @RepairsUniverse alright, i hope the prices do come down soon because i cant stand this ugly shattered glass on my phone haha

  • @repairsuniverse My husbands screen just broke (shattered really). The touch actual touch screen part still works. If we were to fix this ourselves would we need BOTH the Digitizer AND LCD screen? or just the screen? (I'm totally new to this, but very confident I can do it myself with the help of your video and getting started in the right direction.)

And one last thing, new adhesive is a must I take it?

    Thanks in advance

  • @mjoslin1990 If the display is functioning fine (no dead pixels, LCD bleeding, etc) then you will only need to replace the glass touch screen digitizer. This is a straightforward repair so you should have no issues. New adhesive is not always required, but always suggested. Gives the screen a better seat and seal. No problem at all. Replacement screens and parts for the G2X can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Alright so there are spider webs on my screen of my g2x. Is this something that can be fixed through this process if compensated for replacement screens from repair universe?

  • @F34RRmonGER This will the touch screen digitizer that will need to be replaced. We do have this video available in our channel as well. The repair itself is fairly simple and has identical disassembly as this video, just an extra step of adding adhesive to the digitizer before assembling.

  • Just took my phone apart just to see if I can so I would order the screen. However, I wish the step for the removal of the cabling of the glass itself was more clear. I was wondering that was keeping the glass from pulling out. It drove me nuts. Anyway, I put it together and now the 3 buttons on the bottom is not responding. It that because of a bad glass? It was working before even with the cracked screen. Now it's not working.

  • @bedevere007 The bottom buttons are controlled by the touch screen digitizer so it is either a bad connection from the flex cable to the motherboard or possibly damage to either the flex cable or the digitizer circuitry. A replacement screen will resolve the issue. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Dude can u PLZ!!!! tell what u did at 2:52 cause im lost im fixing my phone i dont even know what u did please respond back!

  • @xXBlueBoyGenuisXx This was basically releasing the adhesive holding the vibrator motor in place. You don't need to remove the motor, just release the adhesive so it comes up with rest of the motherboard.

  • where can i get the screen from?

  • @jimmync04 You can find these replacement screens for the G2X at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Great video, I just replaced my digitizer with no problems besides the ones pointed out by @raharoid.

  • @BullcityJblount Awesome, great work. Glad the video helped out!

  • Having problems at around 3:48. It says remove the clips from the sides of the phone but I'm not sure of any clips and it doesn't show the removal

  • @terry2191 These are not removable clips, just clips that hold the assembly in place. Use a pry tool to lift away from the housing and the clips will be released. Work your way around the phone and you can then remove the assembly.

  • @RepairsUniverse Thanks! I got it off

  • Great write-up. I saw this video, purchased a digitizer screed from you and replaced it per your instructions. Everything went smooth except removing the digitizer motherboard. You removed the digitizer cable but didn't mention it. Notice that it is down then suddenly up at ~2:52? I eventually got it off but it took some time to figure it out. Also, on mine, the LCD was stuck to the back side of the digitizer screen not the piece behind it.

  • @raharold Yes, I believe a small error was made during editing. Thank you for that addition. The screen assembly is attached with adhesive, so the LCD screen will have adhesive on both sides, holding the assembly in place, and holding the touch screen securely against the LCD.

  • Nice video!!! My wife dropped and cracked her screen, but it's the outer screen shown on the right at 3:59 of the video. The phone is still fully functional with no problems but the crack is still there. What's the name of that part and where do I purchase it?

  • @drepope1000 Thank you, glad you found the video useful! The part you are referring to is the "touch screen digitizer". This replacement screen can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @RepairsUniverse Thanks!

  • @drepope1000 No problem at all!

  • @RepairsUniverse Does the touch screen digitizer come also with the side cover that contains the volume and power buttons? As I've seen on several websites they all sell only the glass front part without the plastic part.

  • @CristiBeast86 In fact our current stock (not sure how much is left) has the front housing with the buttons. Although on the website this is not advertised. You may want to drop us a quick email and make sure you can get one before we start selling only the glass touch screen without the front housing. Nearly all sites, including RepairsUniverse (dot) com will normally only carry the touch screen.

  • And it's free

  • This is awesome and best part is that it works

  • @SalLovesChoad Glad you found the video useful!
