    The Emancipation Proclamation was an attempt to end slavery in the South. This attempt was made by Ambraham Lincoln. American slavery began with the Spanish and the captures felt that it wouldnt last because the Native americans died off. The first group of Africans to reach North America came in 1619. Trying to drive the South back into the union. The proclamation was a freedom's document. Abraham wanted to end slavery and maintain the union.

  • Union soldiers protected the black voters. The south lost the civil war, their dream of a lot of land and slaves had died and so has the white rule. Poll taxes , literacy tests and disfranchisment was a result due to the troops being removed. The south need someone to sharecrop; take care of the land. From 1860- 1900 we exercised our right to vote, if not we would have had no protection.

  • This video is a must see. The Emancipation Proclamation is the ATTEMPT to end slavery. This was established by Abraham Lincoln and written up in 1862 and set to be followed on January 1st 1863. Lincoln's way of undoing 300 years of pain/suffrage. Dr. Mitchell made a valid point by reminding or informing us rather that the Spanish were one of first have slaves. It wasn't until 1619 that the English brought over 21 Africans to trade along with other crops as if they grow in the ground. Good Work.

  • I belive that the dutch had the slavers, they had the market on the shipments. That's interesting that the spanish were the first to ship slaves to the spanish colonies.

    I thnk Alexander Hamilton claimed that slavery would be a thorn in the countries side and would have to be confronted someday.
