  • Amazing video! This looks like a scene from 50 years ago!

  • wow you must have really known the area!

  • this video is fantastic!i love alcos.were i live there are 2 of those locomotives from the delaware and hudson on a short line when ever i see them they never sound like that because there never on a long enough train .those locomotives sound fricken awsome tied up with a real train !

  • Poetry in motion and music to my ears. Five stars and thanks.

  • I live near this shortline, The sight of those Alco's are still Amazeing!

  • Now is this the same RR as the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western?

  • Yes it is.......the main from Scranton to NJ.

  • DL&W used to go through Norwich as part of the O&W's Auburn Branch- part of the line was taken over by NY Susquehanna and Western till they went belly up after the flood of '06. Now the railway sits abandoned.

  • No, the DL&W in Norwich was the DL&W. The O&W was the O&W. Two different rail lines, two different railroads. The Auburn Branch was a short lived part of the O&W. The DL&W went to Utica.

That line is still owned by the NYS&W and still operates north of Sherburne.

    Tim, formerly of Norwich
