  • thats a beautiful piece of work

  • Amazing.

  • this is brilliant. though I prefer the grander, more epic music in the original, the way the lines are letters flow into each other is incredible, almost as if we were seeing the creation of the construction plans for the city, which is really cool.

  • i genuinely thought this was the official title sequence from a remastered version i hadn't heard of. absolutely astoundingly done, beautifully synchronized with the music and the feel of the movie.

  • this music is amazing!

    what is it?

  • very nice, it's sort of in the same mood as the film itself, and even has a classy touch to it, reminds me very much of the opening sequence to Fracture, I like the way you use text, it has almost a relaxed attitude, it slips by you somehow, good music, makes the effect unnoticeable until it's too late and we're hooked.

  • wow, I thought it was a real 1927. :)

  • lol. i thought it was the real intro for the 1927 metropolis

  • Awesome! Kinda reminds me of Bioshock.

  • @jaguarjaguarjaguarja

Bioshock reminds me of metropolis. derp

  • gret job! this video is a nice inspiration!

  • this is brilliant! initially i thought "shit, my copy doesnt have this!!" and then i read your subtext... great job man.. re: the music comment, i see the point and yes the music is serene but the triumphant theme of the film is serenity and the need for it

  • I love it. The music. The imagery.

P.s. It reminds me of Frasier a little :)

  • Amazingly good! some raw talent there!

  • very smooth transitions :)

  • I love the movie, and love your opening titles sequence. Congrats !

  • that sounds like a pretty cool project you had to do (much more fun than my engineering reports!!) are there any more of these on youtube? id love to see what the rest of the year did. this was well made btw, love it!

  • Wow.

It is beautiful, elegant and sinister. In other words, it captures the intent of the film beautifully.

    Wow.

  • You can imagine that my comp had over a hundred layers and I had to carefully plan the timing of each line to the music. I had to send the files to a render farm to render because it took way too long at University.

Awarh: Thank-you for your comment, nice to see a bit of criticism. Helps me improve. The music is from the film though so it was the best option to use as I wouldn't been able to compose anything myself.

  • Thank-you everybody who has commented. Much appreciated.

LeenTheGreen: The project was done in After Effects using the build in 'Stroke' plug in. I don't know if you've used after effects before but the basic idea for creating the lines was drawing the outline of the buildings on an adjustment layer with the pen tool then applying the Stroke plug-in to that layer. You can then animate the Start stopwatch on the Stroke plug in to time the drawing of the line.......

  • Quite well done. My only suggestion would be slightly different music -- with such a playful quality, the music is almost a bit too serene. Something which reflects the playfulness of the letters shifting about would be nice. Keep in mind this is a SLIGHT criticism. This is absolutely stunning.

  • This is excellent, you should offer tutorials I'd love to know how you created that. 10/10 man wicked.

  • 5 stars man! realy!!

  • that is cool, great job!

  • Excellent!!! I m gonna send this link to my friends to see it. you`ve made a great job, deninitly. keep on touch!!!

  • Watch in high quality, much better.

  • Although i created this title sequence in my first year at uni it still remains one of my favourite pieces of work. Id love to hear what you think about it. Thanks.
