NICE!!! there is a Latin Jazz Fusion band in New York that is called Afromantra, they have some WR influence.... there is song.. 11:11 Spirit, check it out!
that bass is simply bitchin adn throbbing, i go through months of just playing WR, love their stuff, even towards the end there was some quality (except for Domino thingy, that's awful).
Learn this or die: When you are in the evil heart of your addiction, it seems like you can't concentrate creatively on your art. That's a chemical lie of the poison-substance you're taking. It has alienated you from your love, your art. The only way to beat this lie is to lay your art down, go into continual treatment WHILE discontinuing use. This you make a permanence. As you learn about the nature of addiction, you'll relearn true love, hate, and slowly pick your art up along the way.
@1852Madras That's rather ignorant of you. For all we know, Burton may have been a fan of Pastorius. He was also tutored in classical and jazz music, so your dismissal of him is rather unfounded.
hahaha look at the smile on bedraina's (i dont think thats the right spelling) at 3:14. now u know where they got the picture of him to put in the booklet of this album
Actually, since Jaco isn't the only one who continues, I suspect they normally played the song longer but Zawinul got a signal from the TV producer to cut it short because of time restraints. It's a credit to the quality of the musicians that they stopped instantly of cue.
Para mí y yo creo que para la gran mayoría de los músicos, no sólo bajistas; el más grande de todos, Jaco es insuperable!!!. Un gran tema y ejecución junto a los monstruos Shorter y Zawinul.
I remember this show lo these many years ago and I was mesmerized by the sound of it all. Jaco was always a personal fave of mine. And of course I was crestfallen upon hearing of his death. It is fitting that Zawinul took some of the responsibility for this tragedy in an interview. He says that Jaco was a complete teetotaler and that he coaxed him to take that first drink. Being a Finnish ancestry meant 2 things, either drink to excess or not at all. But he, with his mental frailty, drank.
What the shit?! This guy's playing this line while dancing and smiling!! I have to meditate beforehand and beat my bass into submission before I can even play it half right!
@NorwegianCheesecake Listen, mr. Cheesecake, I love Metallica (especially the first line-up) too, but you cannot dare to compare them both. Theirs are waaay too different styles :)

Saying that Cliff Burton is better than Pastorius is similar to say that Herman Li is better than Hendrix.
