  • star wars!

  • I loved this show. not only for the epicness, but the dubbed english and fake laughter.

  • This guy over Iron Chef is more of a fearsome leader then the one over Iron Chef America.

  • As long as the dubber pronounce it homophonic to "wank" and "wang" I can never take this battle seriously.

I suppose it should be more like the "a" in "ah" or "wah"; "W-ah-ng" not "w-eh-ng".

  • ....if....memory serves me right...

  • It's so great that they dub over everyone BUT Kaga during his monologue at the beginning.

People shit on Iron Chef America in these comments sections, but the choices made by the localization department for the Japanese show are amazing.

  • 六さん♪六さん♪

  • Chairman Takeshi Kaga is a feast to the eyes and ears

  • His outfits are soo EPIC!!!

  • this was with a mix of entertainment, and heart put into it,Iron Chef America is a corporate game, this had heart, and story.and yummy food too.

  • @Batistamaniac1 YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish ICA would stop being aired. It's sad and shameful.

  • EPIC music during the challenger intro. It's this kind of stuff that ICA is missing - the backstory, the music, the whole sense of grandeur.

  • The music during the guest-intro kind of reminds me of Leia's theme from Star Wars <_<

  • EPIC COOKING!!!! LOL

  • The intensity, suspense... More drama here than all of Hollywood!

  • Is it just me, or is this show accompanied by the Iron Musicians? lol, I mean, this is some epic arranging going on here!!!!!!

  • I think Wang Zhijian is the real-life cooking master boy. =D

  • aw china and japan shaking hands <3

  • He spent his entire fortune on the creation of kitchen stadium. All of the wealth he had acquired in his whole life was spent on the creation of a new medium in which novel gustatory creations would be conjured. He gave away his whole life in dedication to pursuit of new culinary creations. What a hero, what godliness. Engineers of the new culinary form. Smashing the canon of traditional culinary philosophy. What wonder, what guts. I bow in respect to these fine chefs and quiver in awe!

  • I am sorry but the Cultural Revolution was not "great." It destroyed ancient Chinese culture and has all but completely eradicated the Tibetan culture as a result of Mao's crackpot doctrine.

    But the food isn't bad.

  • wow. chinese vs japanese. wow.

  • That's the beauty of ICJ, They show us why the chef is a worthy challenger by showing us their bio & life story. ICA doesn't show anything epic about the challenger.

  • I never knew cooking could be so epic lol

  • Chairman Kaga is sublimely delicious and addictive in a visual way!

  • @LaCelestia agree

  • wow.. tough challenger :o

  • michiba-san is the greatest iron chef

  • "IRON CUISINE"

    best line of cooking history

  • @543297 he says "Allez Cuisine" which means "Start Cooking"

  • star ocean the 2nd story has something similar to this, when i seen that, i was like "SO COOL!" rena gets to play on iron chef, LOL.

  • i just love how the host takes a bite out of a yellow pepper and looks cool doing it

  • 3:44 Princess Leia's theme?

  • Me thinks Kaga is the only guy that could dress up as a freaking peacock and not look like a moron...

  • @archangelkaz lolol good one...

  • IRONN COOK-A-RUUU!!!!!

  • egg. such a simple ingredient but you can use it many many ways!

  • lol, I love how chairman kaga always looks contemplative, and suddenly eats what's in his hand in one mouthful, then the smile xD

  • I want to see this guy vs Kenichi.

  • lol "signed a contract" sounds alot like an athlete getting signed by a team

  • Blimey, I had no idea the People's Republic had such an extensive food orientation.

  • God, this show is so epic.

  • because this episode is before he was an Iron Chef. He replaces Michiba.... and it's Morimoto..

  • 5:38

    LMAO : D

  • Any episode where Michiba is defeated?

  • Thank God, "Iron Chef" with the proper background music. Order to the universe has been restored.

  • it's always been like that, what're you talking about

  • The makers of Backdraft sued for copyright infringement on the music, and it is now aired with some sad and pathetic synth music.

  • hmm interesting

  • Totally!!!! The redubbed ones on FLN drive me NUTS!!

  • I'm sure she would have nothing to do with you.

  • Hah my dad used to watch this show except in Japan

  • hahaha wait till you taste filipino foods did you know that the master cheff of the white house is a filipina

  • i wonder if obama tried adobo

  • Yeah But she doesnt use Filipino cuisine moron.

  • BTW, anyone know the name of the song that accompanies the ICs on their ascent (0:31 here)?

  • im confused....the starting says "nearly a decade ago," but some other vids put "five years ago," i tot this show was like less den a decade old?

  • The show began in 1993.

  • LOL i love how chairman kaga always twitchs in the intro. in this one is 5:48

  • "Rokusaburo Michiba is a Japanese cuisine chef most notable as the first Iron Chef Japanese on the television series Iron Chef. He was on the show from its inception in 1993 until his retirement on his 65th birthday, January 3, 1996"

    Wikipedia for ze victory

  • Chairman Kaga Looks like light's father.

  • cause Chairman Kaga was the actor for Lights father

  • The people on the balcony don't look like they are there to "cheer him on;" they look like they're attending a funeral.

  • "...He who conquers flames, conquers taste."

  • someone please tell me truthfully; what happened to Michiba?

  • i thought he retired?

  • I LOVE IRON CHEF!!!!!

  • I have a feeling Michiba is going to lose this one, exciting.

  • I had the volume cranked from the previous ep and got my brains blown out on this one, lol

  • should be a epic battle for a chef so honored

  • Served both Zhao and Deng, now that's something.

  • I wish my name was 'wang'

  • 8:08 -- Host wants to shake Wang's hand. But Want bowed instead (Japanese greeting).

  • The best chefs are asian.

Plus it's an asian show, but just translated into english ... it's dubbed.

  • They do have chefs from Europe from time to time. There has also been at least two Americans (Flay and some other guy who challenged Sakai)

  • There have actually been six American (and Canadian!) challengers:

Minoru Noda (1st American challenger--lost to Michiba)

    Wayne Nish (lost to Sakai)

Patrick Clark (World Cup '97, lost in opening round...against Nakamura?)

Ron Siegel (ONLY victorious American--won against Sakai)

Michael Noble (Only Canadian challenger--lost to Morimoto)

    And, of course, Bobby Flay.

  • o gosh... he has to hold up the entire weight of China while he is cooking

  • lol...iron chef chinese, chen kenichi, looked like he was gonna soil his pants...hahahahahahhaaa

  • The reason that Iron Chef America will never be as good as Iron Chef Japan:

    -No crazy pepper eating chairman

-No crazy hyperactive cameraman chiming in with updates every 30 seconds. I love this guy.

  • Seconded :D

and don't forget the judges with the funny dubs!

  • not to mention the fact that the american chairman looks like a porn star.

  • cut the guy some slack, he fought a werewolf with tomahawks for christ's sake

  • also the chairman is just like an accsesory

  • In the American one he is. In the Japanese one, he plays an important role in that he pays for everything out of his own pocket

  • I don't think so, the price for the swallow's nest battle was beyond anyone.

The producers probably paid for it.

  • His "character" pays for everything himself

  • Well, the chairman is the greatest patron, therefore he is a producer

  • u know the "chairman" is an actor right?

  • @moniker127 Kaga is the only reason why i watch Iron Chef Japan ^_^

  • @moniker127, i guess the Americans appropriated Iron Chef Japan and worked on it, at least according to you!!

  • @nkadzi

    What?

  • @moniker127 and nobody saying FUKUISAN!!!!!

  • @moniker127 i JUST love the beginning intro... so epic

  • Don't fuck with Japanese entertainment.

  • Don't fuck with Asian cooks.

  • I've always wanted that thing he's eating the beginning. This show is purely beautiful. It gets me excited. Everything looks so important.

  • thats a bell pepper

  • Wish Food Network would bring this back. Miss these shows.

  • Its not just the show Japanese People more interesting and the people there are more hot!

  • thank U!

  • great to see that photo of him in the shadows!

  • the stories for the challengers on the original iron chef is sick

  • Its a better show with the classic Japan vs China, than China vs China.

  • I still don't see why he chose to fight Michiba and not Kenechi.

  • I think it's because he's meant to be the best out of them

  • what's wrong with michiba and kenechi? :| sorry for being so stupd :| i don't really see the difference between the iron chefs..

  • Skill level is identical. It's what their training is in that makes them different. Japanese, French, Chinese, and later Italian cooking.

  • Anyone ever notice that this guy looks like a the Japanese Prince?

  • he's not really.

  • Michiba is Japanese and Kenechi is Chinese

  • i wish they would release all like....300 some episodes on dvd

  • i want see iron chef italian masahiko kobe

  • Giant lobster episode

  • wang's intro is badass

  • I love it, I always watch the iron chef when I can on mondays, and I have episodes on tape.I love it, it,s great

  • THNX FOR UPLOADING IRON CHEF

  • I agree, there's no way anyone could ever make an Iron Chef greater then the japanese version. Mysterious, yet not impossible. Epic, and focused. Intense, and exciting. Absolutely perfect.

    Thanks for uploading!

  • The awesome intro is why the Japanese Iron Chef will always be better than the American version. Very romanticised and mysterious.

  • totally agree. original pwns all (:

  • so true lol!!!!

  • I love the intro, a very long intro of the challenger.
