Further to my original comment, I believe that this is in fact the original 1983 advert. It was re-released ten years later with slightly different lyrics

I notice that the 'stop and think' logos at the end of this version and the end of the other version on your channel are different. Was this advert re-recorded and re-released at a future date? I know it originally came out in 1983 - was it shown on TV or at the cinema, or even both?

I spotted the greencross man going for a dump in his greencross outfit behind a bus when he opened our village fete ages ago in the early 80s

Wow!!!!, i was so so so little when this advert was in circulation. The song for this came from a song by Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel, the song was either called "The Message" or it was called "The Message II". The lyrics have been altered of course for the advert. I heard this advert first though before i heard the GMF&MM song.
