Awesome video! Well done. Where did you get your music from? Did you need to get the rights to that music? I know you said it's from Lady in the Water and The Village, but how did you go about obtaining that music? Just curious for myself and my video production.
Out of the box my xha1s was sooo noisy and washed out. I reset and it helped a bit but it's still to washed out. How can I improve the contrast? I am a pro videographer and shoot full manual and no auto gain etc...
Hi guys, i was wondering if you could add some subtitles, at least in english.
You guys are very talented. but if i may you shouldn't put too many focus tricks even if it has a great effect in the naration, i think it's a bit too much. I also think that you've made too many close-ups shots, even if they're part of an action scene and we (spectators) have to understand the hurry the character are in.
The firs shot is a great idea, but i would've put a tracking/slithly Downward/Establishment
DSLR's are a better buy when you want to acheive that ultimate film look, but this camcorder has better control over the aperture and zoom, so you have to pick and choose...
Yea, def good filming. I just got the A1 cam and trying to shoot my own music videos but want it 2 look like this, witch SgPro and lens did you use to make this? And do you have any tips to make the footage come out better.

i understand not one word, but i can feel the story...that's how a good film is, expressions with every frame...loved it! i have no doubt that you'll be a great movie maker...keep going, and keep the films coming...you've inspired everyone who has viewed your short film.
I wanted to tell you I love your video!!! I have a question. Doing research, I read that this camera, the Canon XH A1 is the same as the Canon vixia HV30, unless you use the XH manually. Would that be true? Cause I have the Hv40 and it doesn't look like that. Did you retouch the color, or add a lens or something???
I didn't even understand the language... top notch work still! I wish I had an XH A1 and SgPro -- it's way better than the Letus. As a filmmaker myself, I appreciated a great short film like this, rather than a lot of stupid short films on YouTube.
@TheBlancoProductionz hehe, thanks. I'm sorry I haven't added subtitles yet. I was working on it, but then suddenly I got a lot of job to do (thats also why I haven't uploaded any new videos lately). But I hope the subtitles will be available one day :) And more videos will come!
Hey andy great job man! story was great even though i didnt understand a word, but great visuals! even without knowing the language i understood the film, May I ask how did you put together the sound since you did all this by yourself? Please let me know as i am working on my own short as well. Thanks!
lets say the colors in your shot are too bright or dark or look weird, you can "correct" them in an editing program, even simple ones like imovie have basic color corection. You can make your movie like a real film with the right coloring!
not sure about the sgpro thingy, but to get the blurry focus effect you can buy a neutral density filter lens, which cost like 13$, they're really cheap and make your shots look really pro! :D
Do you have a video that shows how to mount the 50mm lens with the 35mm adapter? I'm new to video production and I'm trying to get the most out of my Canon XHA1S. Also could you please explain what the difference between 24f and 25p is? Thank you for responding.
How did you mount a 50mm lens with a 35mm adapter on a Canon XHA1? I thought the XHA1 could not switch lenses. My Canon XHA1 footage looks nothing like this and I use Color in Final Cut as well. This is amazing.
For example, that Lense combo seems great. Did you just have to click a button and it enhanced all the colors in the program? How hard is to to transfer to DVD or computer? What program do you use, I have a PC..How did you edit the sounds, does it pick up a lot of sound? As you can see I have many questions!
Is there a differrent way if you don't mind I can't send you a bunch of questions? Before I make this purchase I would like ot speak to someone who knows about it?
Hi cool video. Are you using more than one Camera? I'm looking to get into film making and for the beginning shots when you keep cutting in live motion, are there 2 or 3 cameras set up? Or Are you using one camera? Any help would be great
I like your work. honestly it seems like you've been doing this for a while, i could totally see you working with real 35mm very soon, if you arent already.
I enjoyed the video very much and respect the fact that you put good quality work online. I am an owner of this camera as well and you really do it justice.
Looks great, i am thinking about buying the xha1 long time and thanks for posting your vids. Makes it easier to give the camera a note. Why didnt you shoot the begining with a stativ?
wow! great video! .. im inspired! .. planning to get the same camera. What kind of mic did u use?? SOUNDS GREAT! also i noticed u didnt use any type of steady cam (atleast i think so) how come?? u use them on all your other video??
Love your work! best i've seen on youtube! 11/10 lol
Hey! Thank you so much! Very motivating to hear! :) The microphone I used is a Sony ECM-674 ShotGun-mic. A very good mic. It costed around 430$.
Hehe, good question about the steadycam. Actually I forgot my steadycam at home. And this film was shot at my cabin, some hour away with car. And since we had very short time to shoot, I didn't drive home to get it :P
a steadicam is a device that isolates the camera movement and thats where u get that SMOOTH shot! .. theres a numerous amount of videos on steadicam reels or demos.. look it up its cool!
If you want to see this movie, go to Vimeo(dot)com and search for SgPro. Sort by "most liked" and you will find it :) Or search for me: Anders Øvergaard on Vimeo.
would you upload the origanal footage of this with out the color correction because my canon xh a1 colors suck and i want to see how much work you've put into this
I have the same question. and the audio doesn't work. =( do you have another link to the video? you can upload the whole thing at youku . com but you might want to know Chinese... haha
I just got this camera. Its been ordered now if I can only learn to use it as well as you have. It gives me high hopes seeing your work with this piece of equipment.
The thing is, that I used the camera with an adapter called SgPro. It will give you the 35mm look (film-look). You can find it at shoot35(dot)com :) And I have edited the colors in a software called "Color". I adjusted the colors manually :)
Awesome film, too bad we can't see the second part of it.
I noticed the whole film was shot handheld, and you say you used the SGPro adaptor. That's one of the heavier adaptors out there, didn't your arms come off right after shooting?
Also, didn't you find it hard to pull focus while holding AND moving the camera?
I'm very interested in knowing why you chose that particular adaptor over others that are supposed to be lighter in weight (brevis or letus).
your question is strange, heh! SGPRO is an adaptor for the lens which is being used on this video. That camera can record in normal definition and High definition, yes, but slowmotion is an option that has to be done in postproduction.
I love the film. i have seen many short films and there are few as good as this. I loved the handheld stuff. It was really great. So you used a 35mm adapter and apple's color to achieve this look? It really looks great. Congratulations from MEXICO.
Its the Soundtrack of "The Village" right?Fits wonderfull, althougth the camera style reminds me at the village...Great shots!Very good work with the 35mm adapter...wish i could work with one;) How much you pay for the SgPro?
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I'm am getting the same camera and it will work. I would love some subtitles as well. WHat did you use to get the sound?
This is a very well done and interesting short film. I loved every shot in the film and you've managed to keep me glued to the screen beginning to end. I recommend adding some subtitles. Good job!
Thanks! =) I was planning of adding subtitles, if someone wanted that. But I have to see if I get the time to do it. Remember that this was just the first 10 minutes of the film :)
This is quite honestly some of the best footage I've ever seen done on an XH A1, and its magnified by the usage of the SgPro. The shots are masterful and the coloring is spot on. I applaud you!! Is there any chance you could send me the uncompressed file?? I'm getting an XH A1 soon and I'd like to see the camera used at its full potential (as demonstrated by you)
this is brilliant! thanks for sharing it.

Thanks man, keep up the great work!

HI, compliment, its beautyfull short movie, good camera!i love this color! I have a Panasonic HVX200, not bad, Are you Director?

can someone plz explain what sg pro is and how it works...plz. so is this camera full HD or what? It has slow motion right?
lightmydank 3 years ago
your question is strange, heh! SGPRO is an adaptor for the lens which is being used on this video. That camera can record in normal definition and High definition, yes, but slowmotion is an option that has to be done in postproduction.
bRainsfaCtory 3 years ago
so sg pro is similar to a 35 mm adapor?
lightmydank 3 years ago
yep, that's exactly. And there're several manufacturers... Letus35 or M2.

I am amazed at how well this was put together! Are you using one camera or 2? I too just bought the XH A1. This camera is superior!
Gyrokevin11 3 years ago
I think he used one camera. The thing is that you have to take some shots from diferent places.

That's right :) Thanks Gyrokevin11 :)

I love the film. i have seen many short films and there are few as good as this. I loved the handheld stuff. It was really great. So you used a 35mm adapter and apple's color to achieve this look? It really looks great. Congratulations from MEXICO.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I'm am getting the same camera and it will work. I would love some subtitles as well. WHat did you use to get the sound?
parrismitchel 3 years ago
Thanks! =)
To record the sound I used SONY ECM-674. I attached this shotgun mic to my XH A1.

This is a very well done and interesting short film. I loved every shot in the film and you've managed to keep me glued to the screen beginning to end. I recommend adding some subtitles. Good job!
abe1324 3 years ago
