let me tell you the difference.... this 40gb ps3 cant play ps2 games .. but it can play ps1 games ... no memory card reader like the 60gb ps3 have .....only two usb ports ...60gb ps3 have 4usb ports.

no ps3 games graphics difference so its not like you to have to compromise.

You have a newer PS3.All PS3's made now have the base model features like mine.(On older ps3's you could open the sd card slots and have 4 USB's instead of two etc.)

if it would run better it would be a minor difference maybe 5 fps faster/slower at MOST. maybe some shorter load times here and their. But all ps3 games will work at the same frame rate group.

Well,all the PS3's they make now only have software emulation for PS1 games,so it can most likely play them all,but some games may glitch up or run funny.If you really need to know,try googleing PS3 backwards compatibility.

No,All PS3's are the same for internet,they all lag sometimes.(Graphics have nothing to do with it) And you can't even get 40GB's anymore.There are two to choose:80GB and 160GB.Both of these models are the same as the 40GB,Just bigger hard drives.

I heard Sony was cuting its heats usage and make the chip Processor a lil less smaller from a 90mm to 65mm cpu. im happy its has a quiet fan and less effiecent heat processor and run good and should last longer. the cpu are already sync for better HD gaming and HDBLUERAY movies experiences. Yes HDD is upgradable looking forward atleast 200gigs.=)
