cryengine2 was and is an amazing creation...many games from these days can't match the cryengine2 and i think that this is better than the third version of cryengine...so i gotta say that the creators of this engine are masters especially for the fact that they managed to get to such performances in 2007 while other games from 2010 and so on are still working hard to get to these graphics

So yes, they are working for them, and they will work with them again for Crysis 2.

I find it amusing looking back that there was so much hype about DirectX10 and how "You can only do this stuff on DirectX10!" and then when Crysis released, we realized you can get all the fancy effects in DirectX9 as well. Comparisons between the two were negligible.

A weapon does not make a warrior :) In most cases developers are rushed during production. All these bells and whistle are excluded due to time consumption. If anyone could take time and effort, of course it'll look good and vice versa.

sadly dx10 isn't faster :( it gets just a little extra detail that only enthusiast care about...... dx11 is supposed to be faster and look better, theres only one game out that fully utilizes it (battleforge), and that game ran a little faster than while in dx10 mode so who knows it might be finally done correctly

Wow now the worst thing is, CryEngine 3 is being developed for consoles! Well there's an obvious difference. (Well better yet, a lack off it). Between the two. While this is taboo. Crysis for the consoles wouldn't be that far off now. Also it looks as though PS3 will run the engine better.

The time of day system looks very good and the tool at 6:56 looks very useful. It's a nice engine but until they realize not many people have computers that up-to-date or until they release the engine publicly for money, they aren't benefiting much from it.

i'm not an expert on game engineering, but i know that entropia universe will be integrating the engine in a few months. when it does, maybe you could dissemble the game coding with some hacking software and you'll have all the resources you need, in a raw state. yes, i did say hacking

Jacek Google earth isnt good enough for cryengine and you wouldnt use cryengine to create 3D Models really you use Maya or Max.

it would be cool to let users create google earth buildings and trees with this enginge. you could built for example the central park in new york or some buildings in london with this engine. that would look very cool.

and the trees should be generated at the clients pc. so that we could give only the coordinates, the size and the type of the tree.

No it doesn't. Like most video game engines/SDKs it costs several hundred thousand dollars, but for a state-of-the-art engine like CryEngine 2, you are probably looking a $1,000,000+ for a license.

You must not be too bright. People have done comparison videos on the highest-end gaming computers: DX9 Very High hack running on XP vs. DX10 Very High running on Vista. The result: they look EXACTLY the same except for a slightly different tone of ambient lighting (that can be adjusted) and the fact that the DX9 instance had 10 more fps.

DX10 is much more than just better looking graphics - it's a more uniform set of code for developers. Keep in mind that DX10 is still in its infancy and naturally in the early stages backwards compatibility is needed. Needless to say, DX10 will replace DX9 completely in the not too distant future. Also, the video card manufacturers have known about DX10 for quite a while, and it's in their best interest to slowly ramp up the capabilities of the hardware.
