  • As soon as I saw this, I just knew the top comment would be Jeff Goldblum related :)

  • Look like we have to move to other countries

  • Just because you're a smart guy and you're kinda old, doesn't mean you have to fluff out your hair like a mad scientist.

  • @betterdropdatdonk yumadscientist?

  • @MrSporeowns ROFL Thats funny as hell dude.

  • Reminds me of killing jokes lyrics... Terrify them Complete submission This is our goal, this is our mission Destroy your customs You'll have no say We'll clothe your women in the western way It's a fucking crusade A lesson in trade So all you intellectuals We're gonna invade
  • isn't this the guy from jurassic park?

  • if ever there was a subject I don't care about it's what people watch on tv in afghanistan. *skip*

  • people should throw away all tv's and get real lives. it´s like 100 or 200 channels of crap shaping minds.

  • instead of worrying about television provision in afghanistan, why don't they stop the war and let them develop on their own?

  • No one cares. Sand niggers suck. hope they die.

  • @RedDragonLodge lo, fuck off bitch !

  • How about their other shows: "Who Wants To Be a Hundredaire?" "I Stone Lucy" "Saturday Night Dead" "The Revengers" "The Shahs of Hazard" "80 is Enough" "Ayatollah Elsewhere" "Madrasah House Rock" "My Thirty Sons" "Muhammad and Mindy" "Brown Acres"
  • afghanistan is a tough place to live in. specially if there is american soldiers policing the whole country everywhere where u can get shot anytime if some american retard thinks your a taliban

  • Televisions in Afghanistan?!?! When did they even get houses?

  • @AAHSKEETSKEETSKEET dumb ass average price for a house in most parts of Kabul afghanistan is 400,000 DOLLARS, American dollars !!!!

  • @precious786toronto I don't think that's true somehow.

  • @precious786toronto Can the average Afghan afford one of these? No. Those houses are for either the ridiculously wealthy people and often times as many as 5 families will share those houses.... I can almost guarantee your average Afghan does not live in such a place.

  • @KristovGaedkavich similarly with any third-world country, afghans are either very rich or poor, you're right, not everyone can afford that, however that's the price of an average house( a broken down house compared to north-american standards)... I know that because last November2010 i was there!! businesses were mostly talking in dollars! hundreds of thousands of dollars, tomorrow YOU can open any kinda entertainment business and make huge profits!! don't have enough space to say more :)

  • @precious786toronto Realy? I wouldn't think that it would be a profitable place to own a business... But now that I think about it I suppose the wealthy would pay a great deal to get some entertainment haha... :)

  • Who you gonna call?

  • I think he was trying to say that compared to the U.S. now, Afghanistan is about 60 or 70 years behind in their technology....

  • I seriously doubt that Afghanistan will resemble the Western world at all in ten years.

  • HE IS ONE IDIOT ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • @lllmmn He seems pretty intelligent to me

  • Thumbs up if you pause and scroll down every now and then and see the comments just to let the F**** video to load !!!! :)

  • he reminds me of an Arab Jeff Goldbloom

  • @TheGreatDeciever55 yeah, because afghans are arabs, right?

  • @Th3Emp3r0r Afghans are Arabs. I think you are thinking of Arabian. Arabians are from Saudi Arabia. Arab is any country that speaks Arabic. Ex: Arab spring.

  • @daberko120ch except they don't speak arabic. for fuck's sake, do a little research before spouting nonsense.

  • @Th3Emp3r0r Oh god damnit, I was thinking of Iran. I new Iran had a little bit of an Arabic population. Sorry If I may have sounded stupid, I always get confused with countries.

  • @daberko120ch well, Iran isn't an arab country either.

it's all right, though. it just kinda annoys me when people think that all muslims are arabs, when arabs make up only 15% of the muslim population. cheers.

  • @Th3Emp3r0r Ya, haha, that's why I said a little bit. I knew that there were still many arabs in Iran yet still a minority.

  • @TheGreatDeciever55 It is one of Jeff Goldblums less iconic roles

  • @TheGreatDeciever55 Checkmate.

  • @TheGreatDeciever55 Afghan's are Arabs?

  • @mastrbiggy ahaha i actually dont think so...didnt know he was afghani however they are basically share borders with arab nations so its not a big stretch....kind of an ambigious term anyway...like im "white" but im not caucasian.....meaning i dont possess the cranial structure to be caucasian nor do i come from the caucus(spelling?) mountains

  • @TheGreatDeciever55

Afghanistan doesn't share any borders with any Arab country. It shares borders with Pakistan, Iran, China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. None of those countries are Arab.

  • @TheGreatDeciever55 Holy sh*t you must be dumb, please don't EVER express the the garbage which comes to your attention. Ffaaaaack I feel like a retard just for reading the damn comment you've made. Since when are AGHANS the same as ARABS???

  • I honestly don't care, racists. this is racists

  • @MrHowarthm wtf are you talking about

  • what a stupid video title

  • @GobBluth1 I agree

  • we came from stars we are starborn

  • Jew Fro Arab

  • nothing to do except watch tv? build a business, invent something, read, explore, fuck your lover, smash a tv set

  • What is Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park doing here?

  • @ghosthusler Lol

  • * Commonly heard while watching dancing with the stars: Afghanistan*

Uh, is she dancing? All I see is a swaying burqa...

  • Well, they're gonna have to buy those gadgets, apart from in the cities, how are they going to do that in a subsistance economy?

  • the focal point is because they have not money and America destroyed and ruined their lives....

  • See? We didn't need to go to war with them when we could just sit back and let globalization handle it. Give them 20 years of modern TV shows, movies, and music and they'll look like a Muslim version of the American south- still dumb and religious but at ast generally friendly.

  • Weapons of mass deception.

  • ...Jeff Goldblum?

  • There for a second he looked like RWJ... and I wondered to myself, WHY THE FUCK IS HE ON MY SUBSCRIBE BOX

  • DAMN! You mean we bombed them all the way back into the 50's??? lol ;-p

  • they need a 2 hour video where michio kaku and neil degrasse tyson just have a conversation about life

  • @rameez92 Throw in Penn Jillette, Stephen Fry and David Mitchell for epic rant-time and I'd totally watch it.

  • ill be interested if dr. michio is talking. more vids from my idol my god, lord michio kaku

  • @pleyads they're the smartest people in the world because they're managing to manipulate the entire lower class population through a box with a screen. And even then, those who watch ultimately have the decision to let it influence them or not

  • The title is kind of misleading >.>

  • You had the opportunity to make money and that's all you cared about, stfu and do something productive for a change.

  • Dancing with the Stars in Afghanistan = anti personal mine

  • theres always books, those are free in libraries and easy to come by besides watching television

  • and thats a good thing ?

  • What was Bigthink about it?

  • obvious war profiteering is obvious

  • I say you haven't heard of internet..!

  • Dancing with the Goats

  • Comment removed

  • Where is Dr. Kaku?

  • One time I asked to use the restroom, they locked me in there for 40 minuets, they said, how do you like the smell?

  • He didn't mention Dancing with the Stars... at all.

  • @wunderdub It's called Afghan Star, most popular show in Afghanistan.

  • The Afghan peoples don't want westernised democracy. Don't you get that?

  • @SevenExxes Don't worry dude, we can advertise that into them.

  • @SonOfNye

    Haha!

  • Pioneers of vastly different fields speaking their minds. That's the point of this channel. It's not Michio Kaku's personal video blog. Sure I love the guy, but damnit you people.

  • I still don't get why he's sad.

  • @pabloenis lol

  • Bring back Michio Kaku!! This guy's a fucking LOSER!!

  • KAKU WHY YOU NOT ON EVERY EPISODE ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

    -kaku syndrome

  • @KrWaKo I understand your addiction...

  • Afghanistan it's time that you had piece

  • @Fly2Azeroth Had peace? Or did you mean "had a piece" as in "had a piece of the pie that is corporate greed."?

  • I wonder if they are going to tune into "Dancing with child prostitutes", where occupying forces rent their children out as play things? Or "How high can the wild poppy grow" where brave "American", and Canadian forces help protect opium fields for warlords who are more ruthless then the Taliban could ever hope to be.

Or maybe "The Coca Cola culture", where foreign nations are subjugated to brainwashing/indoctrination from filthy consumer whore nations, turning them into even worse shit-holes.

  • @NeutralExistence fuck those "Americans" I always said that the worst people in the world are "Americans". "America" itself is filled with idiots and morons. I wish "Americans" would just drop the act.

  • @ferntheflower I'm an American, I can see your point. But honestly, it's not us, it's our corporations. We play a part, don't get me wrong and we are certainly not absolved of any wrong doing, but we don't control our country anymore, corporations do.

  • @SonOfNye Tan Tan Tan TANNN!! Prison Break Syndrome!

  • Who the hell named this video?

  • And yet, all these retarded right wing politicians call them jihadists and uncivilized morons.

    I hate America.

  • Why do the people in these comments complain about TVs when this video is more about the sociology of TV watching?

  • @Dliessmgg maybe stupidity is the reason. :/

  • wow that country is doomed hahahah

  • @waveorange345 We are not doomed....we are coming back on track....bad things happen to every body everywhere every country.....or maybe it only happens with the BEST

  • Yeah this is pretty low.

  • Cool story bro

  • people still watch TV? i haven't used my TV for watching programmes in about a year, only for the PS3. Internet is the way to go!

  • Blimey. That was more interesting than I expected it to be...

  • the best way to dumb down the masses... give 'em TV

because we all know that unless you've seen it on the idiot tube, it can't be true

  • Does Michio Kaku have anything to say about the subject? Or any other subject whatsoever?

  • Give them the internet! Man's greatest invention! Access to new ideas of all persuasion, left right and centre, progressive, women's rights, secularity, peace, economic progress... the possibilities are endless with the internet :)

  • too many of you who feel the need to comment on youtube are depressing

  • educate the people don't give the box!! If you are going to help make them think critically and search their own identity no one borrowed

  • Fanatic Islamic ideology is deeply rooted in the region. I don't think that Afghanistan will ever resemble or even come close to the US or other western countries. There is no way that Islamic society could become free unless somehow religion becomes obsolete and that is impossible because Islam is not just a religion it is a cancer of mind! I don't say this with a biased intention. I state this as a scientific fact! Unfortunately the world is not paying attention to this sad reality.

  • @simabah you're fucking stupid. i state this as a scientific fact!

  • He saying "penetration" twice about TV....what a douchebag.

  • He is in a Saad mood.

  • media will always be restricted due to religious pressure.

  • open engginering, biomedics and cultural studies schools, not fucking tv companies, fucking idiots

  • @pleyads Bilions of our dollars, spent on dancing with the stars, well I would be fine with it if they would bring in Osama,he seemed like a funny guy, becouse who else is known worldwide from afganistan of all places...

  • @pleyads You're the idiot. How do you expect to open up "Engineering and Bio Medical" facilities in a country where the illiteracy rate is over 70%?

  • @AcruxSolus well, lets not show them what technology is about then, lets make them more stupid than they are with tv shows

  • @pleyads The television is a terrific tool for people who have never really viewed it. "Entertainment" is a priority for a people that have been dejected for years by their government, and at this moment, is more important than a Bio Medical institute, which they cannot fund or staff since they have no Universities or an educated elite.

  • @AcruxSolus a simple search would say they have universities... which might indicate there are educated people who might consider themselves elite. The Gaza Strip even has universities that run with separate days for men and women. Seems like a bit of a sweeping statement even though I do agree for the most part about entertainment.

  • @paperheartzz Having a "University" in Afghanistan is like owning an Ford F-350 in Japan - it looks cool but doesn't do you much good in actuality. Their enrollment numbers are low due to threat of terrorist attack, and close to 100% of students are males, generally of Pashtu origin (Uzbeks and others do not recieve state education). I've been to Afghanistan and can tell you that schools there are nearly worthless and usually end up as weapon caches.

  • @AcruxSolus so where does the lack of "educated elite" come from? How did you find that?

  • @paperheartzz They produce very few intellectuals due to the lack of University attendance. The few that they have produced either immigrated to the US or Europe, or were killed by the Taliban.

  • @AcruxSolus Would you suggest the money from entertainment would go into funding for Bio Medical Insitutes or universities? He never really talks about it in the video... btw, thanks for replying so quickly, means a lot and I don't think happiness comes off when writing dissenting comments.

  • @paperheartzz That may be possible - in time. Afghanistan first needs an entire social revamping. They must first build theaters, cafes, and places for people to congregate. Then, they can begin constructing more efficient schools and centers of learning. After all of this has been implemented, they can begin to build facilities for science, health, etc. Doing so now is a waste of money and time since they have neither the skill or money to maintain it.

  • @pleyads I'm a biomedic :D !

  • @pleyads Well said.

  • @pleyads Did you not hear what he was saying? The country is poor as shit. Biomed textbooks aren't free you fucking asshat.

  • @pleyads Yes. While we're at it, we should put babies in college.

  • @pleyads What??????!!!!!! Remove the ability of the corporate machine to exploit another people? This is blasphemy, pretty soon it will be treason, watch yourself.

  • @pleyads cultural studies are useless comparing with physics.

  • @GamerEnterprise physics is the most important matter of all disciplines, but bio medic technology students and teachers that can save peoples lives and cultural studies that can help them to rebuild their identity is urgent

  • Television = The most profound Propaganda force the world has EVER seen.

  • @TroubadourPariahTV Thank god for the internet.

  • @TroubadourPariahTV Until the internet....

  • @CaptKieran85 But at least the internet has two way communication and SOME factual info among all the clutter. TV has neither of those.

  • @TroubadourPariahTV School.

  • @TroubadourPariahTV

true. thats why i barely watch tv. the internet is way better and you have more control of what you see without BS commercials and brainwashing material.

  • @TroubadourPariahTV Internet is better at everything than television.

  • i am assuming each of these speakers are speaking about a general idea, but the focal point is based upon a question that has been asked. I find it a little weird that the question isn't posted anywhere within the video or the description. anyone know why? or maybe there is no question?

  • people really have nothing else to do, how bout reading a god damn book.

  • @pleyads LMAO! YES! You'llnever hear 150 million year ago the first TV's crawled out of the prime-evil swamps to become land TV's. which was fortunate because the cave men at the time really had nothing else to do but watch TV. There is HEAPS to do, there was life before TV, i'm sure of it!

  • @trje246 Not really. Some other things that didn't crawl out of the primeval swamps: human rights, science, technology, plumbing, manufactured goods (including books), ways of connecting different parts of the world (like TV for example). People would live like slaves on their little farms, work like hell for everything that they ever got, and never understand why people got sick, or why their crops sometimes didn't grow, or what kinds of things existed fifty miles away from their house.

  • @handsomebrick Whatever dude, TV is NOT the reason for improved "human rights, science, technology, plumbing etc..." and that wasn't even my initial point. and maybe there would be more respect and honour today if people did just turn off the TV, i mean that in a broad sense to. Then leading into consumerism, globalisation etc. Dont waste your time replying either. peace out

  • @trje246 Okay!

  • Do afgan women even work? sorry if that sounds raciest. Like they still can't drive cars, right?

    But they can vote!

  • @shawnspringstead You are thinling aboute Saudi arabia.

  • NO MICHIO KAKU

    I DONT WATCH...

  • I always liked this bigthink channel. Every video is very enlightening in some way or another.

  • @eeg10 i hear ya..love this channel...makes you think

  • "Afghanistan will resemble western countries in 5-10 years..." Ha! That'd be the day :-D

  • i guess dancing with stars would be an all male partners program , but no homo cuz it is forbidden lol

  • Unusual topic, but pretty interesting (:

  • It's not that surprising, really.

Lebanon(or the more preferred 'Lubnan') is already growing into a cityscape.

It would only make sense that it affects the neighbouring countries.

This is what I've leaned from talking to students from the Middle East.

Not listening to whatever bullshit the mainstream news spout about.

In fact, I've stopped watching TV altogether. It's been 2 years, and I've been feeling a lot better lately.

  • I wonder how the people of Afghanistan will change over those five to ten years.

  • "A bit like the 1950s in US". People are remarkably similar all over the world.
