I was really looking forward to this review when I first saw it posted online, but I was a little worried about what would happen when it came to the "Roxanne" scene. The film's definitely not without its flaws but I always really loved this scene. I was really glad to see that Doug at least liked this part of the movie. =)

As a fan of this film, I would say that this movie is not intended to be thought about too hard. It's an experience more than a story, much more rooted in the music and visuals than in any of the dialogue or plot. And I have to say I enjoyed pretty much all the musical sequences...except Like a Virgin....that one was just weird.

Also, somebody better get to work producing brentalfloss' screenplay. Immediately.

To anyone who's interested (so basically no one XD) the petty ballerina's name is Nini pattes en l'air (legs in the air). She was an actual dancer at the Moulin Rouge during that time, so she's one of the few characters based on real people (that alone says a lot about the movie's credibility) . Not that you'd know this from the film itself, unless you read the credits very carefully...or are a vaudeville fan.
