Emo stands for emotive hardcore. It's a type of music from the late 80's and died off in the early 90's when grunge became popular. Scene is based on Japanese Visual Kei which comes from American emotive hardcore movement. The scene "style" (I say "style" because it has nothing to do with music, unlike every other subculture in existance. It's all about getting attention....whores.) is pathetic.
