Again, I agree.

I've been out since I was 14 and Madonna – her videos, personality and music – played a big part in my accepting it at that age.

I also think that Madonna's influence – my mother and sisters loved her (my pop just wanted me to be happy, safe, etc. and accepted it) – helped my family and friends be more accepting.

I love Madonna because unlike Lady Gaga, she never made us out to be helpless victims who needed "saving".  She treated gays and minorities with the utmost respect, and never made herself the center of attention about it- like Gaga HAS. Madonna has been inspiring people for going on 30 years now and she's been the soundtrack to my life. I love her.

Lady Gaga is but a pale, carbon copy of the great M, and is only making Madonna look all the more powerful and infuential.

I listened to RAY OF LIGHT at least once a day for years from the day it was released. I still listen to most of it (if not all) throughout the week

When you put all her amazing singles together in one playlist, it's staggering how many damn hits she's had. And some of her most iconic and loved songs are unreleased tracks, so my playlist has 95 Madonna tracks that I consider essential M. I can't explain her effect on me, but I've loved her since my mom brought home the 45 of "Holiday", then saw the vids for "Borderline" and "Lucky Star".
