the purple stripes in the cammera are IR (infrared) light. and actually the LED's color isn't defined by quality. the manufacturers decide to make them more purplish or white
flashlights for a hobby is strange if you think about it... but i like the video im looking into flashlights for something ultra light for backpacking. thanks for the info.
collecting flashlights are way more convenient and you're prepared for power outage, what the hell r u gonna do with shaving devices and baseball cards in an emergency?
I did not watch through the whole thing, but did you purchase/have experience with any other Fenix lights? Unfortunatelly, those are rather overpriced in my country :((.
cutlerylover you got a IQ switch with the 1 watt led upgrade for your AA maglite. Does the IQ switch gives you 18-24 hours on 100%, 40-48 hours on 50%, 60-108 hours on 25%, like it states on the IQ packing.
I have never used it more than 2 hours at one time and I never kept track of how logn it lasted, but I cna say I used it on and off for about a month alwasy on high and I still have the original batteries in it that work fien, I woudl ask thsi question over at candlepowerforums they woudl know the techinal stuff...
I have a Fenix L1S 1W LED (discontinued now I guess) since about 1.5 years and it's great. It was like $25. Sturdy, waterproof and bright. So I wouldn't switch for a Maglite or a super-duper expensive Surefire that only does the same thing after all, light up. And $25 buys you a Surefire tail-cap.
yes I had been using surefire brand CR123's...lol but I have also used many other rbands, the problem was reall that I had used a new cell with an old one which is a major no no, which I know now, lol but it was just a scary event that turned me off to them in general...
I use to, but I had a bad expereince with CR123 lithium batteries, I had them vent on me (in other words burst open with flame) so I sold off ALL of my lights that use therm as ALL surefires use those batteries, lol...
Actually I cant because it takes a resistor peice that I had someone on CPF make me, I dotn know how to do it msyelf, sorry...I woudl go ask over at candlepowerforums...
Sorry I do not own that one, I use to hav aBrinkman Maxfire which was $20 at walart, it was an icnandescent light that used 2 CR123's, it was VERY similar to a sufrefire G2, but $10 less in cost, but its not LED...Just wanted to mention it was alos VERY nice for the money...
sorry to kill your enthusiasm, but if you're a beginner to LED flashlights, I think you would be better off with the new Fenix L2T v2.0. It I believe has more lumens than the xo3 and also uses 2 AA cels instead of cr123a lithiums. Plus, it's only $47. The L2T v2.0 has 2 light setting. It runs on a Cree 7090 XR-E compared to the xo3's Luxeon (i think) setup. Crees are brighter and more efficient. The only difference is the total lifespan. Luxeon - 100,000 hrs vs Cree - 50,000 hrs
I think inova is getting on the sloppy side on flashlight production because their LED modules are not centered at all in some cases, and the new Inova Bolt isn't even waterproof... (in other words, the developers at Inova are really slacking) Oh, by the way, the Bolt is the only light in the Inova X series that comes with a belt sheath (and a very cheap sheath at that too) The Fenix however, comes with a pretty nice sheath, a lanyard, 2 spare o_rings, and a spare switch boot.
yes, but I believe that it didnt include a semi tactical clicky switch that contains a red LED that blinks, puts the light in 3 brightness settings, and two strobe settings
lol anyways yeah terralux does have better regulation
That would be a great coimbo...Twin task has a great idea, which I think came out after the Surefire Aviator, so if you want to say they used their idea, your probably right, lol...
I know, I think they used the design, since the streamlighjt came out after the A2, the aviator has been one of surefires most popular models besides the E2D and 6P for civillian use...at least thats what I read, lol...

Where do you get these aftermarket "O" rings, that you refer to in Part 1 and again in Part 2, where you talk about the "glow in dark O rings"?

oh and the candlemode etc are shown in the instructions... IF YOU READ THEM
the disadvantage of the mini incandescent bulbs for the maglites is that they go dark and tinterd for prelonged use and they are not as bright anymore

or you can get a 2.5 mm ultrabright for the mini maglite

Great video! But why upgrade a mini-maglite LED? I have one and it is very bright.
SevereTstormFan 2 years ago
longer battery life and LED's will outlast many conventional bulbs. most will state 100,000 hours before burnout
SmokeRises 2 years ago
No what I meant was why upgrade to a brighter LED?

The reason for the blue-ish light in the LEDs are because they are blue LEDs with a white phosphor philtre making it look white...
nvrmndknasen 3 years ago
It's actually a yellow phosphor. Blue + Yellow = White

yeah, my bad... I was tired when i wrote that, lol
