I don't think this is an iguana. It looks more ike a Chinese Crested lizard. They can live for a couple of decades and grow up to 7 ft. long.

Tired of comments by enviro-wacks. OK the climate e mails revelaed everything. We aren't normally cruel to animals. The earth would NOT b better off without people.... Get over it.Animals have a right to be treated humanely- *key word- humanely...root - human....meaning they don't even treat each other that way, but we still treat them humanely. Craig, take it easy on him/her :) He/she loves animals...and I love that! Yes, most people treat animals well..but there are some real jerks out there. As a veterinarian, I have seen it first hand. It's enough to make you hate people....but I don't yet :) But thanks for sticking up for me!

lol! Doorbell came with the playhouse. I'll tell you, the reason why I taped this originally is because I thought it was hilarious the way he "emerges" from his playhouse every morning. Judicious use of animals in entertainment CAN be a good thing...(obviously when the animal is in no way stressed or hurt)...especially when it helps dispell fear or increases understanding of a particular creature. I hope this video makes someone smile...we all deserve love, no matter how cold-blooded we are

This is acutally a green iguana who normally comes from a tropical (not desert) environment. He is a rescued iguana...I saved him from a premature death. I totally agree with you...I hate keeping animals un-neccessarily locked up..but in this situation...this is the best I can do. He is in a 18ft x 12ft enclosure with exposure to direct sunlight. He has a heated playhouse with a flowerbox, doorbell, and panoramic view of Mt Palomar. Cruel? I hope not :)

yeah sorry but those make poor pets, especially if you do not have a house in your backyard for it. they are ugly and they pee and poop everywhere!! Plus they are not furry or fuzzy like a cat and you cannot pick them up or pet them. on a + note my professor told me the day before thanksgiving that they are extremely tasty, but I will stick to my fish and chicken thank you.

Ok I was advised that these things are potty trainable (which I cannot imagine even attempting to do) and that beauty is in the eye of the beholder (which I do agree with), but my preference is and always will be for cats. They are less maintenance and really easy to potty train, you just have to put them in the kitty litter box one time so their paws feel the texture of it. Sure they jump out, but later when your not around they will climb back in to do their business. Plus cats kill pests.

A video of the cats will be next, I think! I am very protective of all these animals. The dogs are not allowed near the cats, the cats are not allowed near the birds... and no one is allowed around the iguana, except "Ethel" a Scarlet Macaw who sometimes shares his enclosure with him when it's nice out! (I have 10 acres to do this on, by the way). It's exhasting but rewarding! :)
