  • The battery on the iphone 3g is 1150 mah battery and the iphone 3gs has a 1200mah battery ! They both still stuck i guess the 3gs will last you 20 minutes longer before it dies.

  • Note Apparently, there are a number of bad batteries produced by a major company. Unfortunately, there were a number of bad batches of batteries with bad cells and each batch contained millions. The problem is, there are

many in circulation, so when replacing it with a new battery there are no guarantees in finding a good one, and we can appreciate it can and will be expensive.Perhaps,a new re-design of the battery and compartment. Cheaper than compensation?

  • yeah, i've got the same problem on my 3gs, i lose 5% every hour in standby. :(

  • @User1Unavailable do you charge everynight my

Battery Statistics Last 6hrs 35mins usage

1 day and 2 hrs standby and i gotta charge everyday

Do u have too :) what is ur battery like ?

    Cheers Megaakad

  • @MegaAkad yeah, i have to charge my 3gs every night :/ usually I get 8-9 hours of average usage. :(

  • @User1Unavailable same man i thought i was the only 1 with shit battery life it must just be iphone in general

  • @MegaAkad Have you tried to update your firmware to let say 3.1.3? Maybe that could help. :) Coz I'm stuck on 3.1.2 by now

  • Let your battery run completely dead before your next charge then charge the battery for about 8 hours. I promise this will extend your battery life. Do this once a month. This is because your iphone is not reading the exact life of your battery yet the life it sustains between charges. Even though your battery life may seem like its depleting, it may not be. I hope this works for you.

  • I noticed that with my iPod Touch, the longer I had it and each charge cycle, fully deplete and recharge fully, it would last that little longer each time, I got the 3GS yesterday, so I am hoping its the same with this

  • It's just like that! I noticed the same thing on my one... Very poor battery life... The iPhone 2G seems to last longer than the 3GS... There is a way to fix it tho........ Buy different phone.... Apple are hustlers

  • Has any one found a solution instead of mentioning that they have the same problem???

Ive heard it has to do with the 3.0.1? Supposedly the 3.1 will fix that, any suggestions?

  • I got the same shietty problem.

Its something to do with the phone battery.

Only it occur to some people.

Mine drains from 100% to 16% in 4 hours of

not doing anything, just leaving it @ the table.

  • You should go and ask for a replacement, coz there is defintely a problem. If I dont use my phone at all, it goes up to 5 days..

  • got a 32gb 3gs 3 days ago. i find the battery awful, but i love the phone. it needs charging twice a day easy

  • It needs charging twice a day, because u spend ur time playing with it.. internet browsing games videos music. ..

  • remeber these lithium or (lipo) batteries now come with no memory markers which alllows you to charge it when ever youd like IE: 50% or 10% it wont matter. Just make sure you cycle the battery 1 or 2 times a month that way you can reach the dediactes cycles it needs to keep its power.

  • My 32g 3GS had the sameproblem, after turning off the recomended "stuff". it was the same, so heres what i did.Let it run down until it shuts off on its own, and charge it for atleast 8-10 hours, do this 3 times, and your battery will start to last twice as long.

  • dude

i have the 3gs 16gb and mine is wost than yours

without doing anything on it the phone lasts up to 5 hours.

  • I just bought the 16 gb 3gs and im having the same problem..i turned off the 3gs and the bluetooth because mine is jailbroken and i use it with tmobile...but yea..i dunt even touch it..and it goes from 100..to 85% like...in an hour or less...is everyone else having the same issue?

  • Nope.. U should check ur settings, like if wifi is on, if u r using puch emails etc.. if ur network is set on 3g...... if all is off and its draining that quick without use, then u've got a prob..

  • I have the same exact thing, I ownd both iphones before and my 3G s seems to go down way more, I woke up (with full charge) texted a friend he texted back I texted back then my phone sat for about 15 minutes not being touched and it went to 98%

  • You want to make sure that location services are turned off. The GPS on the iPhone uses more battery life than anything else on the phone, so unless your using your maps app or any orher GPS app, turn off lovation services. Trust me youll see a major difference. I have the iPhone 3G and the battery sucks. The 3GS is supposed to be 1/2 times better.

  • yea, I was searching for someone with this same issue, thanks for posting this vid! I know I'm not alone now lol, should I have it replaced? It's doing the same thing as yours.

  • UPDATE

Battery life seems to be improving with time, has been fully charged about 8 times and seems to be lasting a day now. Will do some more tests and report back

  • is it better now or whats the case?

  • At last, some one who is talking about the iphone battery life!! I am very close to getting one or an omnia hd and it seems almost impossible to get a realistic practical battery life time for an ordinary user who doesn't want to turn off half the features that they bought the phone for just to save battery life! No matter how good a phone is,if it can't get from morning to night time without the charge lasting then for me the phone becomes practically useless!Thnks for info, may reconsider iphone

  • my iphone 3g s life has been absolutely horrific...but im in the middle of the full charge discharge thing

  • The iphone 3g battery has 1150 mAh, the 3GS has 1219 mAh so that's a 6% bigger battery on the new iphone. (Therefore your phone should last longer than your g/f's).

From what I have heard, the iphone requires a few full charges and discharges before the battery % indications stabilise and become reliable.

What is your screen brightness set at?

You will struggle to find any iphone users of any model iphone whos battery life is more than 36 hours!

  • UPDATE:

Have done some overnight tests showing how various features affect battery life here are the results so far.

    "Normal Setup" - 84% after 8 hrs

    Push Data Minimised/Off - 88% after 8 hrs

In Airplane mode: 100% after 8 hrs

Will try with Bluetooth off and then with 3G off and report back.

    Peace

  • Thanks for posting this video and comments. I'm only getting a day out of my 3gs. I've been cycling the battery from fully empty but i don't notice any real improvement.I have bluetooth always on.I don't see the point with some ppl turning all the features off! what's the point in having an iPhone if you don't use the features! I'll post more if things change.

  • Yea mine seems to do the same thing.... Mine goes down like 20% in like 10 minutes while using it...

  • Today mine went to 84% in 36 minutes. Only used a tad of internet and mostly idling :(

  • I have the same issue with the battery it drains quickly on my end

  • my battery life is crap. My 3G S drained out like in 4 hours on the first day. I was shocked. I have been charging mine like three times a day.

  • Some things you might consider if you have not already. Try turning off your push option, and your fetch options, and try turning off 3G.
