Thanks for this video, it was really refreshing to see someone speak with some sense about racial issues and not play the race card or a be a victim..you have a college degree don't you?
Well said tonylee. The need for DI Version and DI VISION is absolute. We ALL must stick together, RED, BLACK, YELLOW and WHITE! ALL for ONE and ONE for ALL!!!!
I don't know that the American people vote for whom they honestly believe to be qualified (if they do, they are gravely delusional), but they're obviously not all swayed by race alone.
No, i gotta say im pretty racist in regards to thug hip hop culture, makes me sick, i was born in 77 and raised in a black area..Racism is not going anywhere just yet. To much assuming everyone is racist with black folks i think, which makes them go on the offensive...maybe it will work out one day.
I agree, it's so stupid, it's a NON ISSUE, we should elect a black, or woman president just as we should any other president (based on their qualifications!) It is an insult to ask such a question!
I can't lie, I fear for Obama's safety if he gets elected. Not only does he have to deal with the initial fact that he's mixed, but now McCain and Palin has succeeded in making all these dumbfucks thinking he's a terrorist. When you think of terrorists what's the first thing that comes to mind? That's right, Muslims, not to even mention his name. The media has brainwashed us to stereo-type Muslims in such a negative manner, and the whole thing is HE'S NOT EVEN MUSLIM, He's a Christian.
JKS2020 you are a troll. Stop watching videos and kill yourself. Back on topic: Race is such an irrelevant factor that I don't know why Americans (of all people) bring it up so much. Sorry to say this, but it may be that Edward Current's satire about the "squirrel meat belt" may be a grim reality that we have to face. tsk tsk America.
Yes, THE problem in America today is the abundance of liberal black atheist domestic terrorists... please go stand quietly in a corner until you can say something smarter.
Critical thinking skills are apparently dead. Citizens should vote for the person they believe will serve them with the most integrity, honor and intelligence regardless of race, gender, religion, creed, color...
i think the point the "hick" is trying to make is that oprah is supporting obama over hillary because of their similar race... So rather than get upset and make accusations, try to see the bigger picture?
Maybe she supports him because she shares his vision...and when did she say anything about supporting him because of his ethnicity? Perhaps you should follow your own advice and see the bigger picture.
Hillary lost because she ran as a woman, not as a person. Obama is dangerously close to running as a black man rather than a person. The same for Palin The general population does not want to see race or sex as a "cause", only an attribute.
You have it exactly right. Race and sex are not nearly the issue that the media makes them out to be. The right person with the right views will get elected, no matter whether they are white, or black or green, or man or woman or neither. As successful candidate must step away from these identifications. People will not elect anyone because of their race or sex.
White Americans have elected African American leaders in large, urban areas. The question is relevant judging from the number of racists who are eligible voters living in the deep south (and of course areas farther north) I don't think it's a bad question to ask "Are there few enough racists in America to allow a black president to be elected?"
The issue has never been Obama's color, but the mainstream media have been trying their darndest to make it so ("if you dont vote for Barak, you are automatically a racist"). The issue is who Obama is, what he believes in, and what he going to do as President. And that frankly scares the heck out of a lot of people.
I don`t think thats the case. I think its a legitimate question.
Being an African Americans u and I know a little more about Racism than the average White American. I know theres definitely a racist element in America that lingers from those who opposed the civil rights movement in the 1960s, for what ever reason, and that some Americans don`t want to see an African American president

Larry King strikes me as a bit senile... He asks a question and cuts off his guests; he is often spaced out, and seems disinterested all the time. Not to mention that he should choose a new stylist, and drop the tired suspenders.
And then there's Bobby Jindal, governor of Lousiana. He's not African American, but he's Indian, so there's another example of voters not caring about race.
Larry king did a lovely interview with Michelle Obama. Obama running has been great for America it has exposed the bought and paid media for their divide and conquer.
Better to ask if americans would elect a poor man. You see after you've made your first few million nobody gives a dam what color you are. Money talks.
"elect a black president", what the fuck. anyone who uses that phrase might as well say:
"I'm a stupid piece of racist shit, do you think many other voters are too? Only, the thing is, I don't give a shit about policy really unless it supports my bigoted bullshit"
Larry King is a dinosaur... I think racism and religious persecution are almost the stupidest things we humans do... second only to hypocritically accusing OTHERS of the same thing...
Very good video. America is more than ready to vote for anyone who they think will be a good president. And as a corollary, if America says NO to someone it's not going to be because they are a woman or black or too old. It will be because they don't think that person is the best choice. American voters aren't dumb.
alot of the time silly questions are asked becuase its intereasting how hes going to respond.
i think its a reasonable question because so many people in states like west virginia said race was a big deciding factor in who they voted for (25% of the votes for hillary or something)
being black automatically loses him support from some people, and gains it from others.
windmill: Did you even listen to the video? It's about a Jewish guy accusing whites of racism. If you can take time to respond, at least respond to the subject at hand, not your predetermined agenda.
phildeckard: When Iowa went for Obama & when Obama raised more money from individuals, I'd like to think it was not simply a matter of being ready or overdue, but it was an issue of liking Obama.
Hmm, "dated" is probably exactly the right word. Its hard for us to imagine how much things have changed, and Larry King is 70, maybe? He perhaps read of lynchings even, when he was growing up. People carry the "tone" of their youth with them somewhat as they age.
Just stopping by again to be cheered up by your charm, Proteanview, and it dawns on me to say expressing this on youtube isn't enough. King is selling a product, his punditry, and he needs some feedback from the consumer (you) that he's really not giving us what we want--something a little more enlightening than the same old stupid stereotypes.
Despite market forces, etc. its amazing how much difference feedback can make.
The press is trying to create a problem where there isn't one, and where the polls all told us there wasn't one months and months ago. SSQ is an acronym we need to discuss the MSM, ie. "same stupid question". There have been other ones in this campaign, like the "will you run an independent campaign" to Ron Paul, etc. With all the obvious problems the media is trying to keep people from noticing, it must be hard (for them) to find fresh questions they are willing to ask; hence, SSQ.
I used to live in L.A. and not only was a black voted into office there but while I was there a Hispanic was voted in. Of course the demographics in L.A. have changed a bit since bradley was mayor. But a black mayor taking office or even a black governor whether you're talking about in Virginia or Massachusetts or New York State, is nothing any where near remotely something like kind of sort of in the vicinity of a black president taking office.
thefreeassociation: My point is, the very same questions were raised when Bradley, Wilder, Schmoke ran for office. When do we stop asking these race-based questions... when a black person has held every single office? We can't assume that, had Wilder not won, it was because of race. The same applies for Obama.
Race is not quite the dead issue people would like it to be. There's no doubt that some of the black votes Obama gets will be people casting thier vote for "the black candidate." I guarantee that there are some of various races who won't vote for Obama for the same reason. It's evident from your video that you give the average voter too much credit. These are the people that voted BUSH into office.... Twice! If Obama doesn't get in, it will be for various reasons. Race will be one reason.
Good ass answer I believe wholeheartedly. You will see me not have race based questions and opinions when I see the race question answered and discussed. Not when it is swept under rugs, dressed up, or even half ass remedied. When people talk fondly of "settlin" the West during American's frontier days it should have the same vigor when it comes time to discuss slavery and Jim Crow and lynchings etc. Not greet with "ehhhmmms and ahhhsss"
Allow me to indulge in a little conspiracy theory... Those big media bozos are told to distract us with stupid questions like this. "Is he black enough?" "Is she woman enough?" "Is America ready?" (Then McCain wins, cause AIPAC and CIA like him best.) "Oh well, America wasn't ready!"
The real questions which decide the next presiding puppet: "Will he war enough?" "Is she corrupt enough?"
Hell yea! Americans are so stupid today. At every white persons heart there is a desire to show they are not racist. Dont vote for Obama McCain or Hillary. It almost seems like people want 1984. All three of them somehow set the stage for Big Brother. Fuck you dipshits. My ancestors built this country, now were ruining it. Im going to get some weapons and take some islands in the middle of the ocean that the government can never touch. Who's with me? JK
it's not about having a president at all..the presidency has been a puppet show ever since the Federal Reserve came into being, and America gave it's power away to the same cartels that want you to be a number it goes way beyond the surface, and Obama has a machine running his campaign, in the name of the Brookings Institution, Skull & Bones and the Trilateral Commission.
and these guys deal in war, drugs and population control. Whether you believe it or not, it is the agenda for us
Im not voting because they all suck. Its time to have 5 or 6 parties so that we have some actual choices for once. Our founding fathers warned against having political parties because by their very nature they are devisive and counter productive. Maybe its time for a coalition style of government?
I think the media is owned and or controled by the same group that wants to stay in power. The will or wants of the majority of the American people are secondary to the goal of the controlling elite. The media is a tool they use to convince the public to support thier agenda. Example: All tv and radio stations are owned by someone. Who ever that is has control over the content and views of its comentators. Who ever controls the flow of information also controls what most people believe.
Liberals at time of war, are as dangerous as the enemy. During the cold war, Kenedy was preceived as weak and the Russians said, "we will bury you"! Clinton refused to strike back at the terriorist and he was preceived weak. The terriorist planed and put into motion the attack on the trade center. Obama is seen by the terriorist as weak and they are going to "punk him out"! I can't wait to see how many Obama supporters stand up then and claim their mistake!
Obama's pastor racist Rev Jeremiah Wright. This man is one Of Obama's hero's mentors of over 20 years, where Obama brings his kids, shame on him. And shame on any American for supporting him. He's a fake, hypocrite, dont let the media or CNN fool you. They give Obama bias coverage because they feel sorry for him. And they're spellbound!!!
The majority of white Americans have been ready to elect a black president for a long time. As you said they have elected many black leaders. Unfortunately Obama is extremely Liberal and I hope he is not elected (just because white Liberals want to make themselves feel good and Elite Liberals want power) or it will change the country and set us back and not for the good.
There will always exist extremist in all corners, so it is important to stay on message, because the better in all of us will always prevail, the extremist lack the numbers.
The main reason some white people are voting for Obama is because they may have white guilt! They are only voting for him because they think it would be like " dude so cool" to have a black president. If they really question there motives this is the reason why and they know it. It's just something you can't bring up in a politically correct media. But if Obama was an Asian, Latino or White guy it would not matter to them at all.
Yeah maybe the AA vote is tilted toward Obama because he's half black. I think that another contributing factor is that he's an extremely qualified candidate if we forget about his skin for a second. Also, remember he has been winning in States like Idaho and Maine where there is a total of I think two black people. And for all the help him receiving 90% of the AA vote is, i'm sure he's being hurt at least that much by the racism on the other side, of the much larger white electoral base.
I think that some people do vote by race but the majority of people vote for who they think will do the best job so you're right. I think it's kind of silly to ask is we're "ready." The question should be: Is America too ignorant to pick a politician based off of race?
if race makes no difference in how people vote then why do 90% of black people vote for obama? do you think that only black people are capable of being biased?
Why not ask also of the 75% of the Whites that voted for Hillary in Mississippi? It was one racially polarised primary, get over it.Sure Barack has earned some votes for being African american but there are people that have NOT voted him for the same issue.
that was my point, there are still millions of people who vote based on race. that's why obama won't win the general election and larry king's question was completely legitimate.
I agree that some people vote on race but I don't think they are significant to deny him the presidency if he otherwise would get it. Such people tend to think that there actually are many of them in their own little world, but,if Obama lost the final election I don't think it would be because of the racially biased voters. I hope he wins but if the opposite is the case, I know it shall be because the people do not quite resonate with his capability. Refer to the primaries.
los angeles is barely a "white majority" and seattle is more liberal than the rest of the country. and in case you didn't know, douglas wilder was a conservative uncle tom. obama is left-wing and belongs to an afrocentric church, he will NEVER be elected president.
The reason WHY they are asking these questions of Barack is because of the lopsided "black vote". IMHO, that's a form of racism. I mean when 90% of a considerable demographic votes for a man who shares the same race against a white woman, you have to ask yourself, "are these voters informed or are they just voting for him based upon the color of his skin." It's a VALID question and one that Obama should have to answer. The "black vote" is OVERTLY racist. Why not address that.
Obama did not fight back when Hillary began her smear campaign against him and thus he lost Ohio which he could have EASILY won. He has CONSTANTLY allowed Hillary to use Rove tactics against him and now he paid for it. To bad the African American community will vote for someone who is a true race baiter like Hillary
The question that you quoted Larry King as asking Oprah, I agree with you, is archaic and has now become tired since Obama announced his candidacy. I would like to ask; Why wouldn't we (the United States) be ready to elect a Black Man as President? It seems that the media has ignored his accomplishments, or lack thereof, and they have been so concerned about whether or not we could, we haven't thought about whether or not we should.
max: I *think* it's that the media assumes (or needs us to be) far more racist than we are. Obama's race gives them more juicy stories (even if it's a non-issue for most) and these stories generate ratings & advertising dollars.
Yes, pro', I am almost certain you are exactly right in your assessment of how this whole campaign for the Democratic Nomination has been played out by the media. They are the guilty ones; and I say that because I have a strong feeling that they attract more viewers and, therefore; sponsors. Money is the goal.
Isn't it sad that in 2008, racial division can be more lucrative than racial harmony?
Newsflash: America has a large RACIST demographic. Whether they are closeted racists or right out in your face racist. Face facts, man. Racism is in our GENES, man. It's natural to identify and defend those groups which outwardly represent "our" kind. That's why I have a problem with Obama's "black" landsliding votes. It's OVERT RACISM from within the "black" community. If there were a more balanced vote with him being slightly ahead I wouldn't have the problem with it I do have.
Anyone even referring to skin color or gender is an idiot. You're right.
Simply because people think there is some sort of racism, they feel obligated to vote for Obama. This is ridiculous. How many Obama supporters do you know say they want to vote for him to make history? Sorry, but I don't look at skin color.
America is ready for an American President that will uphold the constitution of the United States and Defend against all threats foreign and domestic. NOW that being said....I beleive Barack Obama to be that man!! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN!
Well said brother. The media CONTINUALLY tries to compartmentalize the "black, latino, and Asian" vote as well. Every poll has been flipped upside down. They were saying Guliani was the front runner in the beginning, Barack wasn't going to win Maine. Nonsense. The media plays a role in continually attempting to polarize the race. I was angry when CNN felt the need to marginalize SC and LA vote as "black voting" places. No one ever speaks about how blacks did not support Sharpton, Braun...
The media works overtime to keep us fighting each other. Meanwhile, we ship off $4 million/year to Israel. Meanwhile, 4,000 of us die while building a Mosul-Haifa pipeline to give Israel Iraq's oil.
They also said that Hillary Clinton wasn't going to win the New Hampshire primary, but lo and behold, that is just what happened. She's a tough cookie.
I think it was a legitimate question to ask. It seems that the answer is firmly 'yes'. Not talking about racism, or pretending that it does not exist, does not make racism go away.
ym: I disagree. That's what the media tells us, but the way the caucuses and polls are going, the reality of the American voter tells us otherwise. We aren't as race-obsessed as we're told we are. We are the reality & we don't need our corporate-sponsored media telling us what reality is.
Yeah, I thought it was an odd question for Larry to ask her, too--thanks for bringing it up. In general, though, I've been pretty impressed that the media (at least CNN) has not made an issue of Obama's race or Clinton's gender in their coverage. Larry King is a bit odd; hopefully it was just that.
You just keep telling the truth my brother! Good for you man! A man of wisdom you are!

The problem ISN'T obama's RACE - Get over that! Americans have elected black officials OVER and OVER again....
Ray Nagin (New Orleans mayor) isn't a bad mayor because he's black, he's bad because his POLICIES are bad....
Same for Maxine Waters, John Conyers, and others....
Ditto for the WHITE politicians who are jerks with bad policies: Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, etc.
The problem isn't with the RACE - it's with the CRAPPY IDEAS these people all have.
It's NOT THEIR RACE...PLEASE!

Very good video. America is more than ready to vote for anyone who they think will be a good president. And as a corollary, if America says NO to someone it's not going to be because they are a woman or black or too old. It will be because they don't think that person is the best choice. American voters aren't dumb.

They're not dumb any more. Poverty makes you smarter.

alot of the time silly questions are asked becuase its intereasting how hes going to respond.
i think its a reasonable question because so many people in states like west virginia said race was a big deciding factor in who they voted for (25% of the votes for hillary or something)
being black automatically loses him support from some people, and gains it from others.

Hmm, "dated" is probably exactly the right word. Its hard for us to imagine how much things have changed, and Larry King is 70, maybe? He perhaps read of lynchings even, when he was growing up. People carry the "tone" of their youth with them somewhat as they age.

But a black mayor taking office or even a black governor whether you're talking about in Virginia or Massachusetts or New York State, is nothing any where near remotely something like kind of sort of in the vicinity of a black president taking office.
thefreeassociation 3 years ago
thefreeassociation: My point is, the very same questions were raised when Bradley, Wilder, Schmoke ran for office. When do we stop asking these race-based questions... when a black person has held every single office? We can't assume that, had Wilder not won, it was because of race. The same applies for Obama.
proteanview 3 years ago
Race is not quite the dead issue people would like it to be. There's no doubt that some of the black votes Obama gets will be people casting thier vote for "the black candidate." I guarantee that there are some of various races who won't vote for Obama for the same reason. It's evident from your video that you give the average voter too much credit. These are the people that voted BUSH into office.... Twice! If Obama doesn't get in, it will be for various reasons. Race will be one reason.
thefreeassociation 3 years ago

RVqueen 3 years ago
Hell yea! Americans are so stupid today. At every white persons heart there is a desire to show they are not racist. Dont vote for Obama McCain or Hillary. It almost seems like people want 1984.

Sinnerswing 3 years ago
Yeah maybe the AA vote is tilted toward Obama because he's half black. I think that another contributing factor is that he's an extremely qualified candidate if we forget about his skin for a second. Also, remember he has been winning in States like Idaho and Maine where there is a total of I think two black people. And for all the help him receiving 90% of the AA vote is, i'm sure he's being hurt at least that much by the racism on the other side, of the much larger white electoral base.
jerry5555557 3 years ago
I think that some people do vote by race but the majority of people vote for who they think will do the best job so you're right. I think it's kind of silly to ask is we're "ready." The question should be: Is America too ignorant to pick a politician based off of race?
dziuba3 3 years ago
if race makes no difference in how people vote then why do 90% of black people vote for obama? do you think that only black people are capable of being biased?
onnotice 3 years ago
Why not ask also of the 75% of the Whites that voted for Hillary in Mississippi? It was one racially polarised primary, get over it.Sure Barack has earned some votes for being African american but there are people that have NOT voted him for the same issue.
okorewq 3 years ago
that was my point, there are still millions of people who vote based on race. that's why obama won't win the general election and larry king's question was completely legitimate.
onnotice 3 years ago
I agree that some people vote on race but I don't think they are significant to deny him the presidency if he otherwise would get it. Such people tend to think that there actually are many of them in their own little world, but,if Obama lost the final election I don't think it would be because of the racially biased voters. I hope he wins but if the opposite is the case, I know it shall be because the people do not quite resonate with his capability. Refer to the primaries.
okorewq 3 years ago
los angeles is barely a "white majority" and seattle is more liberal than the rest of the country. and in case you didn't know, douglas wilder was a conservative uncle tom. obama is left-wing and belongs to an afrocentric church, he will NEVER be elected president.
onnotice 3 years ago
The reason WHY they are asking these questions of Barack is because of the lopsided "black vote". IMHO, that's a form of racism. I mean when 90% of a considerable demographic votes for a man who shares the same race against a white woman, you have to ask yourself, "are these voters informed or are they just voting for him based upon the color of his skin." It's a VALID question and one that Obama should have to answer. The "black vote" is OVERTLY racist. Why not address that.
Kostly 3 years ago
The issue with Barack Obama is not the color of his skin, it's the fact that he's completely not qualified to serve as president.
nanquan491 3 years ago
Obama did not fight back when Hillary began her smear campaign against him and thus he lost Ohio which he could have EASILY won. He has CONSTANTLY allowed Hillary to use Rove tactics against him and now he paid for it. To bad the African American community will vote for someone who is a true race baiter like Hillary
RASMISS 3 years ago
The question that you quoted Larry King as asking Oprah, I agree with you, is archaic and has now become tired since Obama announced his candidacy. I would like to ask; Why wouldn't we (the United States) be ready to elect a Black Man as President? It seems that the media has ignored his accomplishments, or lack thereof, and they have been so concerned about whether or not we could, we haven't thought about whether or not we should.
maxtexture 3 years ago
max: I *think* it's that the media assumes (or needs us to be) far more racist than we are. Obama's race gives them more juicy stories (even if it's a non-issue for most) and these stories generate ratings & advertising dollars.
proteanview 3 years ago
Yes, pro', I am almost certain you are exactly right in your assessment of how this whole campaign for the Democratic Nomination has been played out by the media. They are the guilty ones; and I say that because I have a strong feeling that they attract more viewers and, therefore; sponsors. Money is the goal.
Isn't it sad that in 2008, racial division can be more lucrative than racial harmony?
maxtexture 3 years ago
max: *racial division can be more 'lucrative' than racial harmony*
You're good. I wish I would've thought of that one.
proteanview 3 years ago
Newsflash: America has a large RACIST demographic. Whether they are closeted racists or right out in your face racist. Face facts, man. Racism is in our GENES, man. It's natural to identify and defend those groups which outwardly represent "our" kind. That's why I have a problem with Obama's "black" landsliding votes. It's OVERT RACISM from within the "black" community. If there were a more balanced vote with him being slightly ahead I wouldn't have the problem with it I do have.
