Go do your homework ppl. Holochaust are progressive metal from Edinburgh, Scotland, BUT Metallica covered "The Small Hours" on both Garage Days Re-Revisited and Garage Inc. Metallica grew up listening to this band.

The confusion with MetallicA is due to some Hoax in 2001 when everbody was waitin' the new album (St.Anger) saying that it was a demotrack, i remember calling all my friends telling them that i got it, the new MettalicA sound ! felt like a dumbass after xD Great song though !!

I don't think the guitar sounds like Kirk at all, but the vocals are hauntingly close. However, I've known this wasn't Metallica for a while. I still think it's one of the greatest songs ever made. I never get tired of it.

Ok as for clarity of my previous comment, this is the original version of this song from when they were known as Holochaust. They have a new remastered version on Mind-A-Stray's new album. But yes this is Mind-A-Stray, (formerly Darcane, formerly Holochaust.)
