  • I worked with him in Alaska, and was deployed with him his last trip to Iraq, I'm aggrivated to see him go, but I know he's going to continue to do great things.

  • This policy can only be described as barbaric, disgusting and utterly anti-American.

  • Unbelievable. The US Military is dysfunctional, plain and simple

  • Its the military....Jons personal life is just that....PERSONAL.

I went to school with Jonathon and just want everyone to know I support him 110%.

  • HOW DARE THEY????? He gave his ALL!! THREE tours of duty..........

We need to UNITE......................and get him reinstated. How can we turn a BLIND eye on this HERO? He needs all of us to support him! Johathan....THANK YOU for your service!!!!!!

  • I also know Jon. Jon is among the most professional, upright, and competent officers I have ever known, and everyone I know who has served with his would agree. He was the guy in the West Point Class of 2001 every expected to eventually become Chief of Staff or a theater level commander one day.

Jon demonstrates everything wrong with the current policy, and his departure is a serious loss for the Army and the nation.

  • I personally know Jonathan, and he can be described with one word: DECORUM.

  • Is this what you wanted, Bush?

  • @PGContributor Bush didn't put Don't Ask Don't Tell into action.Don't ask Don't Tell has been in effect since 1993.This is nothing to blame on Bush.If anything we should point the finger at ourselves because without the people of America,Don't Ask Don't Tell never would have never been someone's brain child nor would it have become a law because if people weren't offended by gays, the Senate wouldn't have voted to make it a law.

  • This man is a hero.

  • This is a perfect example of what is wrong with not just our military, but our homophobic society in general. Captain Hopkins kicked ass over there. Not just as a soldier, but as a leader. And, the way we pay him back for serving his country so honorably: We fire him for something so insignificant as having a favorite color. Shame on us. Shame on America.
