  • This was 1 of the best radio station that came out during the early 1990's in southern Cal(Since the year 2000,I now don't listen to any music radio station. In the last 5-8 years, most of today's next generation of "trendy" music "sucks").

  • God I miss this station!!! I remember the day it went off the air!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dutch! Yes

  • GREAT memories ... riding around with friends from the h.s. band late at night while they egged houses in the hills. Mars playing in the background. Thank you so much.

  • there has to be another station poppin up soon with all this new electro dutch trend in LA ..it would be nice if they get another station running with new and old classics from MARRS, Groove and KDL.

  • @jflores949 dutch? NO.

  • Good to see so many who remember the Elektro format dating back to the late 70's & early 80's. Resurrect MARS-FM!!!!

  • Loved Mars. I'm trying to find a techno song called "Check Out" or something like that. It used to be on Mars or Groove radio. It was on Youtube, but was taken down. If anyone knows, lemme know. Thanks.

  • Too bad it didn't last long. It was waaay to cutting edge and ahead of it's time.

    Freddie Snakeskin rocked!

  • mars fm intruduce me to saint etienne and their hit "nothing is going to stop us now".

  • i think thats where I first heard them too

  • :'(

Thanks for posting this! I fucking LOVED MARS! I used to know a bunch of people there, and hung out there on occasion.

    Ahhh... hindsight.

  • MARS FM, Groove Radio, Y107.1 and KDL 103.1 - What great time to be living in Los Angeles. Seems we had a lot of great inovative stations here. Remember 105.5 KNAC in 1981/1982? Another classic LA Radio Station. They played stuff no one else played, as well. (though KROQ would play some of the same stuff at that time). Ah, early New Wave and Punk, then the next wave, Techno, Trance, and Rave.

  • Mars fm gives me great memories of the early '90s.From introducing me to techno&raves to Industrial-ebm and '90s era dance track& flashbacks to the '80s(I too still have that Mars fm bumber sticker and have not yet peeled it).

  • god, i remember listening to this station when i was 9 years old. had no idea they also played industrial. how amazing!!!

  • mars was hard ass hell to get in pasadena ca 626

  • this and indie 1031 were the best formats on the 103.1 frequency

  • Yeah, and don't forget "Groove Radio"!

  • groove radio!

  • that too...it seems like indie (based on the specialty shows) would go back and play the style of music groove and mars had...

  • Yes, I remember that. Remember ...

"Y 107.1FM" that was good too.

I have some tapes of Groove Radio April Fools Day bringing back Mars FM which happened in 97'. I should upload those along with those of 1992.

  • lol y107.1 that station was in pasadena off a rosemead

  • mars and groove were great.bring back some backwards techno!

  • clould someone list the songs?

  • i was in high school..mann i loved Mars FM..i cant believe its in youtube!!

  • good old mars fm..miss it.need some backwards techno...with tony largo!!!

  • MARS was wonderful... I love you Egil! :)

  • This station was so groundbreaking and was the foundation of so many good memories when I was over there around that time - I was horrified when it was taken off; much like KDAY, the most important of all LA radio stations.

  • Thanks for posting these! I miss MARS...

  • Thanks for putting this up! What's the name of the Tear Garden song?

  • Never mind, found out it is "The Center Bullet".
