Jaycee Dugard had access to a telephone when she worked for her kidnapper in an OFFICE. She also had access to OTHER PEOPLE, and THE INTERNET.  I'm sure that if I was kidnapped when I was 11, I'd understand that what happened to me was wrong and would try to get back to my family.

@VinnyCons It's very likely that she was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, which is when a victim slowly creates an emotional bond with their kidnapper. She would have thought many things; that he was doing it because he loved her, that it was her fault that she was taken, or that her family would have been hurt if she'd tried to escape. We can't possibly understand what it is that she was put through. If she had been able to escape then she would have done so.

her bio father only just found out he is her father, and is happily married... jaycee was the result of a two week affair when terry was 21 and carl was the only father Jaycee ever knew. bio dad and siblings have expressed interest in meeting jaycee if she should want that.
