Whwther ITF or WTF, I was always taught to use TKD in it's full form, which is keeping my hands up (which I don't see), and to detect a kick-happy opponent and use my hands for punches & blocks. I don't see any blocks. But fun to watch, though.
Lol i am a yellow belt and im basically good sparring with people who older than me and who going into college which are green belts and black belts. Once this red strip got ticked off at me in sparring he didnt even shake my hand at the end. That was stupid in my though even a belt lower than him as more respect.
For everyone who dislikes tkd u dont actually dislike it, u dislike WTF (world tkd federation), u'd all probably enjoy watching ITF (international tkd federation) cuz its more like kick-boxing
shotokan is karate... this match is tkdo and i think that the blackbelt is really crap, they should take his belt back...and for the yellow belt(if there was one(its all blurred)), good on you for kicking the shit out of that black belt...
the black belt is one of my friends and he doesnt suck he shows control if he went all out like he did to me he would have back kicked him in the first 5 seconds which is what happened to me at the time and im a pretty good fighter for my rank
That depends if the school follows the traditional belt ranks (which includes the brown belt, amongst others) or if it follows the new ranks which I believe was devised by the WTF. Although I believe the other poster is talking about shotokan karate anyway.
yes it does.. itf and wtf both have brown belts.. especially if the school follows tradition of belt ranking. including high ranks and best forms, kicks, self defense etc. it can be a very useful tol if you know how to use these defenses.
Obtaining a black belt isn't always necessarily determined by time. It is practice. Practice 3 times a week for 7 years, and obtain a black belt. Woot. Practice 7 times a week for 4, and you should have a black belt. In terms of skill, and the principle, garbage in garbage out, I'd say thats about right. Training in, results out. Harder training in, better results out. Peace!
i get taught by a korean and he himself said being ranked black belt doesnt mean anything... it all comes down to who practices and who doesnt period theres no possible way a instructor can transfer his skills to you..its up to you to practice what he teaches.. i love tkd and i always practice 110% and if im wrong from what i said above comment back
im sory but tkd is the worse martial art anymore. its so mcdojoish and itsnt very practical on the streets like karate. also. they dont keep their hands up they dance around and throw slopy kicks. shotokan 4 life.
True that, shotokan has actually been useful to me but my instructor teaches outside the box and tries to get the best of all styles. Took 10 years for me to get my black belt and after that i just dropped it :\.
Wow finished watching this and i got to say that the black belt doesn't deserve his belt, what was this a "pay $200 and get a black belt" dojo?
I've seen matches with brown belts where they'd be tossed to the mats with a take down and beat senseless until they were broken up, or attacked until they were corned up in a wall. One thing I'd like to do to those rushers was to send a quick front kick to disable them while i scored some punches.
you do know it takes a minimum of 6 years to obtain a 1st dan black belt
i was and i guess still am a 1st dan blackbelt in tkd from newfoundland, I quit 3-4 years ago since my teacher decided focusing on white belts and i was kept back a couple times because he wanted me with guys who were 2 years my junior, we literally taught ourselves. Ive thought many times about going back but i dread going to his school and the other school is stricter than most but way better teachers(1 year my senior)
thats stupid, i worked my ass off for 7 years straight in order to obtain a blackbelt and someone else comes and gets it in 2 years, i think shit like that should be banned, any sensei that passes belts out like that should have his licence revoked.
I personally think they should have at minimum of 4 ranked 2 or higher dan blackbelts to grade you for your blackbelt, at least it was that way for me, and you need to spend the min. time which is 7 years as each belt/stripe ups the time between
oo ok. Anyway can u help me? I need to know 3 contributions and 3 effects of taekwondo to society. I also need to know the meaning of senior yellow belt
watta shame... this bastard doesn't even know what the meaning of being a black belt. he fights like child.
i think if people believe that you are ready to face a black belt when you are just yellow... fine, but you also must be ready to get real knock down... or worse.
Well I disagree Ive been in Taekwondo for 11 years and am almost 3rd degree, and I worked hard to get to my level, my master talks about schools as the one above, he calls the TakeMyDough schools, they just care about the money, my TKD is different we have 4 national team members for the us, and it takes at minimum 3 years to get your blackbelt, The people that suck end up quiting because they never rank higher. My school isnt liike how you guys describe it.
i hate tkd now...i have been to the classes...they gave out the black belt in like the first year. I gave that crap up and started boxing. screw tkd...they literally hand out black belts...take a test and you got 2nd degree...big whup. its not hard to throw down a tkd artist anymore...a while ago it used to take skill...
ooh come on you dont have to hate tkd.. it is really cool if you got the right teacher but i have to agree its true they almost that they hand out black belts ... there a fat girl training with our class she has a black stripe ... uhh she really sux XD but now i have a different teacher she's really good :D with her you better train or its bye bye to your ass LOL XD
black belt in taekwondo meants shit anyone can get if have money these day I'm an old school black belt from when black belt meant something. It took me 10 years that 5 day aweek everyday to get my belt black 76 tourments, now you see black belts on 6 year old kids bull shit kids who don't know front kick from back kick suck the sport is gone to shit.I don't to train anymore scents they give me 2nd degree just to impove class size.I loved taekwondo it was my life
I'm 3. kup right now and I have trained for 7 years. And I have seen many TKD noobs walking around with black belts. Grades are given away too much these days. And TKD training today is shit worth, it's all child arobic now which is why we see so many TKD fighters getting their ass kicked. And the matches suck too. What are they doing? Dancing? Use your arms FFS and don't rely so much in those all-show kicks!
It's a shame, but TKD today is getting more and more silly.

That was fairly impressive considering the skill difference in your disciplines but he was a very lack luster black belt. Good work regardless. If you're branching out in other martial arts for MMA of any kind make sure you don't forget to focus on your ground skills as well as striking ones. Jujitsu and Aikido might make for nice bedmates of Wing Tsun.

i am currently a yellow belt at my kickboxing club, and the black belts dont go easy on us there. one of the first members, and a good friend, broke my nose the other week. other injuries include broken ribs and eyesockets just in sparring. this video is pussie shit. come to ireland, join my club and get your ass kicked every week, just like me! its great. thats gay
lol the black belt was rather knacker ed after that ... which is a shock considering they are supposed to be fit. the yellow belt did very well considering.
Im not sure if you can see it in the video but everytime i punched him he let out a moan of pain and i felt bad an apologised. Also I was told that you punches are rarely scored on TKD. I just wanted to test my skills.
