@DrabisPlace The picture is from the Beta version of Cataclysm, and the picture shows the Greymane wall, and the Raging chasm from Westfall in Twilight Highlands.
Lords of Shadow, Gods of Twilight, bend me to your will. The one whose voice echoes in the deep beckons to me, he calls out to me over those ancient peaks, the God of darkness demands i strike you down, yield your flesh to the gates of death, and know none can escape the will of him who sees all.
@Actionboy619 Oh look a nerd who accuses another nerd of being a nerd just to make himself feel better! Sorry bro, we're all in the same boat when it comes to WoW! Oh by the way, being a nerd is awesome, we're taking control of the world!
@sumerian88 No dude, I jus think wow is a fun game. And real nerds are the ones making a lot of money like Bill Gates and good scientists. WoW nerds will not take over the world, Most like you won't even see half of it.
@sumerian88 And no were not all in same boat when it comes to WoW. I play it because its a fun game. But I'm not a weirdo that says shit like "The Old Gods...whisper to us. They await in their prisons, they await their hour. They await...The Hour of Twilight..."
Sadly a lot of people who play this game are people like you and give it the reputation of being a nerd's game with embarrassing bullshit like that.
This music plays primarily in BWD and BoT, I think BRC and Stonecore, I haven't heard this particular variation of the theme outside of those instances that much. Great stuff, love the Twilights Hammer theme <3
sorry, but this music does not appear in twilight highlands. I flew all over the place for an hour during night and day but unfortunatly never heard this amazing track.
I checked the region around grim batol today for half an hour and never heard this track. Instead it plays a variation of the "eye of the vortex" theme followed by a sinister twilight theme that sounds similar but is definitly not the track above. If anyone believes he hears the track please poste the location and I'll gladly check it out. I hope someone can prove me wrong because this track is just too awesome.
@Stufflikeheartz You're not the only one who plans on joining them. Also, for the theme and all that... Doubt I need to say this, though it is an excellent theme.
I love TH. Like many others before me, I think that it fits the idea of horror far greater than Icecrown did.
The sky is an unnerving blue, and it feels as if your character is enclosed in a dream, with open plains and strange monuments in the distance. And you get this immense sense of loneliness and hopelessness. Also, when you stumble upon the radically different areas inside it (Twilight bastion, and Maw of Madness) It comes an an unexpected shock.
The other thing that I find creepy about the highlands is that it's a place out of a nightmare. Icecrown was, as a zone, just one huge fort for the scourge. The Twilight Highlands resembles a normal environment, and then a few yards further it feels like you stepped into another dimension (The Maw of Madness). It's the fear of the unknown that makes it better than Icecrown. This music will put you on edge as you explore.
This soundtrack is amazing. Especially at the moments where you hear the sword clinging type sound in the first minute. It makes you feel like you are always in some kind of hostile environment wherever you are and Icecrown failed to do something like this. This soundtrack also kind of reminds me of lord of the rings.
@Posterdude95 Icecrown gave me the feeling that I was flying undetected in a place where nothing living had been in years. However, while I am undetected, my presence has been made aware of.
This sounds like I'm directly threatened...which I am. Considering Deathwing has torched my ass multiple times and the Lich King never really left Icecrown Citadel.
@zadoestricks Dude, it's not the night-elves. Nor the humans. (As a faction, that is) It's the Twilight cultists, who worships Deathwing. They can be everything from Humans to Goblins, so im not sayng you are 100% wrong. ;)
Deathwing can cause a tidal wave with a flap of his wing, Arthas uses all his might to raise a dragon from the dead......Deathwing shifts his body and the barrens cave in on its self, Arthas kills people then makes them his minions. Arthas gets killed by mortals, Deathwing Almost kills Alexstraza...sorry folks im more afriad of DW
@TheJudgeMan1 The Lich King was killed by Mortals Lorewise. He was killed by Tirion(Mortal) and the un-named Heroes of Azeroth.
Tirion shattered Frostmourne, releasing the souls inside, which trapped Arthas(Not having any physical to kill Arthas themselves) In which the heroes took him down fully. Deathwing will most likely NOT be killed by Mortals, more-so once he has been weakend, the Five Aspects: 4 Dragons 1 Shaman(Kalec'gos taking over Magic, and Thrall taking over Earth) will down him.
ty blizzard for such a good game but its addiction. when ur playing wow ur going deep into ur mind and this is it, and then its seems it is everything for u and u are the only one in this world.
@BJMKBKNLU Yeah, that's one of Yogg's titles, not Arthas/LK. The Lich King is not a god, nor is he worshipped as one. Neltharion and some of the other aspects are/were sometimes viewed as gods by their followers, though they also are not actually.
@Pepitobenito actually you are most certainly wrong there. The lich king is worshipped as a god by the cult of the damned. And the vrykul who serve under him revere him as "the death god" (both Ingvar and Ymiron refer to him as such.)
That being said, Deathwing was "the aspect of Death" and was called deathwing long before the lich king was ever brought into being. Yogg-Saron also predates both Deathwing and the Lich King so he is technically more legit than arthas is.
@CBleck Not really. Arthas wanted what he saw as his own form of order by creating undead servants from the living. Deathwing wants only chaos and destruction. He's a lunatic; he's completely lost his mind, whereas Arthas was only corrupted by power and ambition.
@Pepitobenito once again, saying Arthas could likely take out let's say...Cho'Gall, or any other member of the Twighlight's Hammer...never said anything about Deathwing being weaker than Arthas...never even mentioned him in my original comment
@dogsarecool222 ...they are one and the same as of Wrath...even with Ner'zhul no longer in command the entity has both Arthas' and Nerzhul's memories and experiences
I would really like if this zone would be even for levelling experience hard as hell!! I mean listeing to this music while entering the first time in there I would totally expect death at every step! And I will be totally disapointed if I don't wipe in here a few times!! This zone needs to be intimidating to even set foot in! And I am not talking about mere welcome mobs.. ohh noo much much more!!
the thing that makes twilight highlands so much more chilling than icecrown is that icecrown looks dark and gruesome and if a scrouge jumped out at you and attacked you in icecrown you wouldnt be terribly suprised, highlands lures you into a false sense of security being that it looks rather tranquil in some areas
@imagnome123 I agree. The Cultists of the Twilight Hammer are more mysterious, there is very little explained about them, comparing it to the Scourge and the Cult of the Damned. The mind fears what it does not know, more than what it does.
@Calthrasful Arthas and Deathwing pretty much want to do the same thing, end all life, except Deathwing (and by extension the Twighlight's Hammer0 want to tear the world asunder, Arthas wanted to turn all things into mindless undead, which is probably a worse fate than just being...well plain dead
@BJMKBKNLU Arthas isnt the god of death. First off ner'zhul is where he gets is power and 2nd Yogg saron is still way stronger than arthas and all the old gods = kill anything on azeroth if they werent sealed. and im pretty sure. Worldbreaker is cooler than lich king. The destroyer also.
@Drsatan9 Yeah i said that. when i said "all the old gods" i ment it as all of the old gods could destroy anything. i kinda worded it like yogg could destroy all the old gods.
@DAGET1234 Idk, I've always liked Deathwing's lore much more. I'll agree the lore behind Ner'zhul / Arthas is interesting but hes sorta a minor figure compared to Deathwing.
@Krynarn they vrykul did in fact refer to him as the death god, I didn't see any faceless wandering around utgarde or any connection to old god influence present there.
@pudgeypigeon The Yogg Saron influence is all OVER Northend Dungeons actually, Yogg-Saron and Arthas had a Connection, if you follow the story from Ulduar to Icecrown(Not extremely apparent, but it is there). Arthas and Yogg-Saron had a some-what... un-spoken truce.
@camey11 yes there is influence but not in utgarde specifically, where did you gather the truce info? from dragonblight one assumes that yogg is a nuisance to the scourge. In icecrown everything is made of saronite but the lich kings presence is more overwhelming i believe that whispers aren't heard there and since the scourge is controlled by the lich king that they are unaffected by yogg-sarons whispers. to see heavy influence in the dungeons its in Azjol'nerub and ulduar dungeons and thats it
"Blizzard representatives have stated that they feel the connection between Yogg-Saron and the Lich King ended up being poorly expressed in-game,[9] but added that it "had a lot to do with the ability for mortals to become corrupted.""
Read the part before it to, it explains alot. And did I say truce? No. I said "Un-spoken" truce. They Keywrod is un-spoken. No-one said it was a heavy Infleunce on Utgarde keep, but there is an Influence there.
@Perais1337 Arthas was no Jailor of the Damned, as he was a "King" not Jailor. Bolvar on the other hand does not Rule the Scourge like Arthas, rather holds them in check, thus he named himself the Jailor of the Damned. The Death God, IS Yogg-Saron, but, Arthas was working his way to that title, but was not the God of Death, merely King.
If you ever thought Icecrown was such a creepy, gloomy and scary expansion end-zone that it couldnt be topped.... Twilight Highlands seems to beat it by far. Fear them.
Where in Twilight Highlands can you find the place on the picture? I don't remember such wall in the Twilight Highlands.

@pudgeypigeon

Fear them.

A very epic piece that needs more views.
At first I was worried a bit about these Highlands but they actually made it quite the awesome place to be :)
