  • World Class - Jersey Channel Islands

Type this in the search and check it out

  • I live here in the channel islands. We are 1 of 5 islands in the British Isles, Jersey is the biggest of them at 46 square miles. 14 miles from France and 182 miles from London

to think americans are watching this is crazy.

  • Crap runway, and crap fields.

  • fantastic!

  • That turn they did at the beginning was impressive

  • Is it just me or is Trulyloyale a first class bell end?

  • where was this? Navy Lakehurst?

  • @NJFordPops08005 It says Jersey at the top, matey.

  • @animotioned well, NJ has 11 million people and plenty of space. I was wondering WHERE in NJ.

  • @NJFordPops08005 Note that it says Jersey, not New Jersey.

The real Jersey (or should I say, the first Jersey) is in the Channel Islands which are part of Britain. As Jersey has only one airport and 87000 people and is pretty small, and Ground wun too wun decimal nine sounded very English to me, and the Red Arrows are Britain based, it is probably going to be Jersey, Channel Islands.

A quick Google (you'll type more letters in the comment than in that) reveals that the Red Arrows are regulars

  • scary man

  • Nice vid!

  • " My grand grandparents were not surrenders ...." correction in there .

  • If my grand grandparents were not surrenders , if they had been surrenders in WWI 1917 , now both you & any french frog would speak the krauts' language more than you're doing actually ....D ! cheers

  • FrostbiteUK : by true facts and real stats ( not by naive personal opinions )

the brittons seem to be worse than wound-up Mylord of High Tea XD !

datboomtingbre ; I ' m on true facts , no matter u little barbarian pig look to be accustomed in denying & changing

them ! Anyway much better surrending to a preponderant powerful enemy after the fight than trying to surrend before starting it like ur retard " umbrella man " did with uncle Adolf ...!

  • LOL - The British are not that easily wound up - try harder pizza boy :D

  • At least we know how to construct a normal sentence.

  • Hang on to those trivial victories Sam. Teach your brethren to do the same. Kudos on your celebration of the mundane.

  • haha what are u on u little surrender monkey!

  • wow fantastic

  • cool, aren't those hawk trainers similar to the T-45 Gosh hawks that the USN uses?

  • They are identical, the US Navy started buying the hawk T1 from BAE a few yrs ago and renamed them the Goshawk

  • as far as i know they are very similar and are made by british aerospace engerneers, teh US ones have tail hooks on i believe?

  • yeah they do, I stood behind one T-45 at an air show and it did have a tail hook. Also, I've seen video of carrier take offs and landings

  • yeah im with leon...

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah right what do you actualy know about aircraft? the blue angels and thunderbirds fly more advanced jets than the hawk trainers that the red arrows fly, which have no guidance systems or radar, so when the aircraft are in formation 4 ft apart the only thing which tells them where the other aircraft in the formation are is the pilots eyesight and skill. this along with the syncro pair, makes the red arrows the best display team in the world. as a pilot myself i tip my hat to them.

  • You make it seem as thought the entire time the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds are doing a demonstration they have the autopilot engaged. This couldnt be farther from the truth. As you said "The only thing which tells them where theother aircraft in the formation are is the pilots eyesight and skill." Well the same is true for American demonstration teams. While they do fly larger, more technically advanced aircraft, the methods used are still the same.

  • P.S. I totally agree with Someloke8895.

  • Some of us Americans also take pride in lack of capitalisation of proper nouns and misspelling the word "bastard". All these pilots are great, otherwise they wouldn't be doing what they're doing.

  • Why do these vids always turn into country pissing contests?

Both US and British Display teams are awesome, lets enjoy that fact.

  • hey basterd, we americans take pride in are aviation since we are the orginal founders. %0 dollars says that the blue angels and the thunder birds can easaly hold a formation better then the arrows

  • Original founders? I suggest you look up Leonardo, Lilienthal, Traian Vuia, Hiram Maxim...

  • Err.. actually, the Red Arrows (or one of their predecessors) hold the record for most number of planes to do a loop in formation.. 22 aircraft

  • That's the black arrows actually, 111 squadron.

  • no it isnt thts why they are red not black and plus the black arrows just try to be the red arrows

  • record is over 150 hunter jets i think =/

  • 150? You are joking. I can't remember the exact number, but it was no more than 30.

  • A) learn how to spell

B)your opinion means squat on youtube

    C) They are both excelent display teams

    D) Red Arrows hold more records therefore if we were to compare the Reds would win

  • @Jelen108 no they cant we are much better, accept it

  • where do you see scary things

  • Yeah, i don't see anything scary in here.

  • good job those pilots arent american or they would be wonky lines in the sky and metal allover the airport , brittish ftw! americas suck dumb coks.

  • haha.....dude, grow up.

  • stupid comment.

  • That's what I'm saying, where is the scare?

I saw them come into JFK Airport back in the early seventies from Brookville park in Rosedale Queens NY and they came in line abreast but i always wanted to know how they all got on the runway, very good.

Those experiences are what made me choose a career as a pilot which is what I worked as until, of course, 9/11.

  • 5 stars but were is the scary landing?

  • I suppose you would have to have been there!

  • wheres the scary landing?

  • im getting a trip with the reds for my work experiance i wanna be a pilot soi think its the best option! :D

  • They are flying BAE Hawks

  • Can anybody tell me what type of aircrafts are the Red Arrows are using? Reply...

  • LOL nice one "orhanjudas" they are using the aircraft used to train fighter pilots...the Hawk. That thing is far to look like a tornado...I had a good laugh over your reply "orhanjudas", no offense.

  • anyone cud climb over tht fence and run onto the runway lol but i guess people aint cos they got common sense lol

  • I dont get it!!!what part is scary? They didnt even come close.

  • speeded up

  • i saw somthing like that at farnbrough

  • What's so scary then? If you think the hawks were a bit low, you should try sitting at the end of RAF Lossiemouths runway. Not only is it just as close, the resident Tornado GR4's are bigger, faster, louder and often carry weapons too. I guess there are other airfields that have similar paths too. Big deal, not scary at all.

  • I've been to Jersey quite a few times and am amazed that this footpath went so near the runway! You can see the road that goes up the east side of the airfield to St Peters and it is miles away!

  • thats not scary mate ive seen em before

  • i realy do hate the noise they make so much for small jets there well scary wheen they are lol and they cross over i always think they will crash

  • who cares we're all on the same side.

silentsnipertx3 you've got to admit the red arrows are pretty impressive and planes flying in formation takes way more skill than solo.

even i can do that in a tutor and im 15.

  • humans are humans where ever they are. Its wrong to judge them by their nationality . If you had the correct training ,anyone could be a good pilot.

  • HAHA yah right, your no match for the ThunderBirds and The Blue Angels!!!

  • Okay Mr Tracy...Thunderbirds?... Like most Yanks...they need strings to hold them up!

  • haha... no... we dont use strings, and we dont need 14 people flying together to look good either

  • so did i...so i thumbed him back up :)

  • american pilots are no where near as good as the british we are the masters in the air and on the ground and thats fact

  • agreed.

  • choccydog: I dont think Britsh Pilots are the best of all, I'm sure there are other pilots all over the world that are just as good. :)

  • how was this scary?! Dang, it looks exciting!

  • u speeded it up

  • No he didn't, I fly PA28's and even THEY look fast on approach from the ground.

  • i think generally ppl are getting pissed off with the american ppl wrting about how they are the best and the biggest super power but really when it comes down to it america have caused more problems than solved in the last 4 serious wars they entered. If it wasnt for japan attacking when they did, america might have not got involved and germany could be running the world right now..... just shows that america wasn't really an ally back then until they felt the wrath of war.

  • Is this at RAF Leuchars??? cos it looks like it!!!

  • No it's jersey, thats why the title says, "scary landing in jersey"

  • Im studying a history degree in England. The US support in world war two both economically and militarily was essential to any allied success. It could be argued that during the war the british paid with strategy, the americans with money and the russians with blood.

Arguments about if we could do it or not without the Americans are rubbish - we would have eventually been invaded without their support - only the Russians could have saved us in the end without America.

  • i googled it erlyer and it says that they are based in bournmouth wen they are in that area and they stay there for a couple of days

  • newmanboy.... the red arrows are based at RAF scampton. just down the road from me its in Lincolnshire, not sure where they do trials for new team members somewhere abroad...anyway point is they are based in scampton, read official sites and listen to the local yocal - me ;)

  • i know they r in scompton but they r based at bournmouth wen they r down that area

  • seriously, what was scary about that?!

  • y r they at jersey they are based at bournmouth

  • BS, they are based at RAF Scampton.

  • no they aint i live in southampton wich is near bournmouth and they fly over my house all the time

  • ok Mr. Wiseguy - so what? just because they are flying there does not mean they are based there. Quoute from the official homepage of the Reds (FAQ section):

""The Team have been based at Royal Air Force Scampton in Lincolnshire since 2001. In the past they have also been based at Royal Air Force Fairford and Royal Air Force Kemble in Gloucestershire, and Royal Air Force College Cranwel in Lincolnshire.""

    - so...I cant see the word 'Bournemouth' there...you cant even spell it correctly. LOL

  • u r 1 fucking batty boy aint ya

  • no u are

  • they are based at Scampton you are right....my brother is based there at the moment

  • they are in Jersey for an air display, they stay at the Airport when they perform in the Jersey air display and also for the Guernsey air display.

  • That wasn't scary. The airplanes were where they should have been. You should have tried filming when some student pilots were trying to do their first solo landings. That would have been scary.

  • What the hell as this video got to do with the USAF? Do i have to remind you this is the best of British, after all it was us that built things like Concord, Harrier jump jet and many other aircraft that out pace America. After all it was even the British that gave you the enjection seat as you yanks kept crashing all the time. tut tut

  • The scary bit is you with that pan and zoom.

  • I basically saw no "landing" just final approaches. You've gotta work your cam better.

  • Thats not scary if they didn't want you there they would have got rid of you!!!!!!!!!

  • Not scary....if the Red's didn't want you there your arse would have been off that walk way !!.

  • i love the red arrows they're such good planes and have amazing formations

the blue angels are atck yand never fly in a formation without only having 4 planes

the RAF is better then the USAF far

    becasue

1.we have such a good plane...the harrier we have amde a plane that can land and take off by hovering such good technology

2.we have such fmaous old planes america dont u may have the f-86 old very old we have the spitfire old old old very old!

  • to right... u talk good stuff red arrows are the best. They are actually a hawk painted in the colours of 'the red arrows'.

  • i agree and im american, the blue angels also suck ass i spent 15 months in the uk and i made sure i saw 2 shows i adored watching the red arrows and im a pilot i dont like watching air displays bc i always see fault i saw NOT ONE FAULT !! they are very talanted pilots ..

However we do have better aircraft .. but then im gonna stick up for my country's AF lol ..

  • Good on you, navybabejz, no idea why someone gave you a thumbs-down (although I have a feeling I know who did it - darththc?). I have cancelled it with a thumbs-up. I'm no pilot, but I'm sure the Blue Angels don't really suck ass. And yes, the US undoubtedly has better aircraft than the UK (and more of them). Right, I'm off to bait your compatriot again now...

  • na, wasn't me, i haven't ever givin you thumbs down, lol.

  • lol they do compared to the red arrows.. but thannks for the vote of confidence .. they make a lot of mistakes that shouldnt happen...

    but thanks .. :)

  • Thumbs up for you, sir!

I enjoy watching both the reds and the blues but I must admit, I remember watching a blue display and it was horrendously sloppy compared to the reds. I care not if they're British, American or whatever, sloppy flying is sloppy flying.

Interesting thought for you though...the blues fly in far pricier planes, would you prefer cheaper planes in greater numbers (like the arrows) or stay with a few expensive fighters?

  • i think the problem with the blue angles is that they think getting the biggest dirtiest plane will make them a great aerobatic display team but they didnt think it through but the hawk is pretty much the perfect plane for displays because its so manouvarable and yeah the blues are a bit dodgy with there flying there moves are pretty boring too whereas the red arrows are just daredevil like and i could watch them all day...mate amen to your comment \m/

  • LOL! You're such a silly willy, holydiver! Oh you and your comment shenanigans!

  • hmmm 0.o

  • LOL!

  • man ive done a few responses now eh? this one is for lovemehatemeLOLZ: did you know that the harrier is actually rubbish, the american developed JSE is something to look out for, top of the line technology. and as for old planes the americans have the B29, B24 Mustang... lots.... but yeah i love the spitfires and lancasters ;) hehe

  • The harrier "was" not rubbish, many a time ago it was the forefront of 3 dimensional technology, first discovered with the Rolls Royce "Flying Bedstead" - it was an absolute marvel of engineering!

Perhaps not now, but heh each to their own - I only fly a pesky PA28 but thats good enough for me.

  • yeah my attitude to the harrier does put up strong arguments. i agree ~(as an engineer in training) that the harrier was a marvel for its time.... i just never like "rampies" =D. i hope for the navy to develop a catapult like the U.S. carriers have. thanks for the comment back on a old post ;-)

  • av seen a scarier shite come oot ma arse

  • not very scary

  • You're right Ybot88...But most aerobatic teams such as the Red Arrows (Frecce Tricolori, patrouille de France, Snowbirds, etc.) use low-powered yet highly manoeuvrable military training jets while the Blue Angels use F-18 multirole fighters which are more powerful but less manoeuvrable and more dangerous to fly in formation.

  • I live in Jersey and im fairly certain I was on that footpath when this was filmed, as for scary I don't think it comes through too well on the video, and it was more of a Adrenaline rush than actual fear. Seeing the Tornado take off and hearing it when it was directly infront of us was i think a better experience, probably just for the noise if nothing else.

  • Some idiot decided that they won't be part of the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony as they said its 'too British'. Isn't the whole point of hosting the Olympics in Britain to aid the promotion of the British nation and its an opportunity for every nation who hosts it to put thier mark on the games that will be remembered forever. A petition needs starting!

  • They're not cancelled, stop believing everything you read in The Scum. They were originally not going to take part because Olympic guidelines state that the military should not play a part, until someone pointed out that in 200 the Australians closed the games with one of their jets.

  • Lmao :) The scum.

It'll eb the times for me! At least you get real news in there...

I mean the sun's front page usuually has a headline like

    "BUS FOUND ON THE MOON"

  • The reds landing wasn't scary at all and secondly he shouldn't have stood so close to the runway- By the way i have a question...How did he even manage to get so close to the runway?

  • The footpath used to cross from one side of the airport field to the other between the start of the runway and the approach lights, but has been removed since, possibly for security reasons.

  • The RAF are by far the best, i knew i guy who was in a bomb training exercise, and he dropped the bomb and then he dived down and flew next to it when it was flying towards the ground at high speed.- NOW THAT IS TECHNICAL FLYING- Blue angels SUCK

  • i won't speak to the superiority of the reds over the blues, but when you say raf is the best, your forget that usaf is the most technologicaly advanced air force on earth and is vastley superior to any single nations air force. raf is good, sure. but usaf dominates, and thats not from bumb luck.

  • I realise that the usaf have the most technology and probabily the best technology, but what i mean is that the RAF have the best talent at flying fast jets or any other aircraft, i have never seen the usaf in action, but i'm sure their good because they probabily have to train hard, and the USA also have the best places to train. The UK sucks for that and if i could i would live in the US because its such a good country. USA is also one of the powerful countrys in the world.

  • well thanks, but i'm sure how "good" we are anymore, or if there is really "countries" these days. we should start calling them companies, because thats who really owns and operates them.

  • i agree !

  • hit the nail on the head

  • the usaf spend a hell of a lot more money than the raf plus many designers are british as well as american. there is no best or any way to make a comparison. More american pilots have died statistically so you must base your opinion on?

  • the fact that more american pilots are flying missions, maybe? i agree there is no comparison, no air force in the world could stand against the usaf. i understand that no one wants to admit their country isn't the best at anything, but it's not like this is a subjective topic. the usaf can take and hold ANY air space on earth, can raf make that claim?

  • actually you are totally wrong about technically advanced. We dont even know what the russian military has been doing for the last 60 years for starters also given that the british german and italians collaborated in making even higher advanced technology. That includes the computer systems being part of the raf, which is more advanced than any american plane.

  • ummm... sure. and i guess we're sharing the jsf because we want to dillute european millitary technology. russia spent itself broke and is still struggling to rise out of that ash heap. and what advance plane do the british have that is invisible to radar and uses vectored thrust? is that the harrier? no? what else you guys flying? your going to have to vette those statements, and if we don't have to back what we say, then..........

WE HAVE A DEATH STAR, so there.

  • At the end of the day th RAF kills the USAF, were better at everything from drill all the way to display teams.. those thunderbirds claim to be the american version on the RedArrows... thats just an insult to ANY nations display teams... even the italians are better at display than the UASF :|

  • ya sure, i'm sorry, ah... the last time i check it was globally accepted that america is the undisputed ruler of the skies. look around the room your in, likely you will find a box like object with buttons on it(you might know this thing as a telly). turn it on around 5 or 6 pm and take note of the news, listen long enough and you'll hear someone from you own country say the same thing. you are correct, our thunderbirds are flying some pretty old stuff, but i didn't know play = air

    superiority.

  • True - and if you include the USAF's unerring ability to fire on its allies (remember that A-10 knocking out a British infantry unit a couple of years back in Iraq?), then you are the undisputed masters of the air. Maybe it would be better for everyone if you stayed at home, I can't think of a single conflict in the past few decades that you haven't ballsed-up. It's all on telly here.

  • no doubt, but i'm sure your guys make mistakes also. shit happens, especially in war, but you know as well as i do that you guys benifit greatly from america's air power, and don't complain when it's in your favor. i can definitely see circumstances in which jolly ol' england would rather us not stay home. it's happened before(you know what i'm talking about don't make me say "it") and it could happen again. unfortunately it might be our fault next time, so i'll apologize in advance.

  • Your keyboard seems to lack a shift key, darththc. And there are two 'e's in the word benefit. You should know this as you probably have to claim it so often.

You're right about the last thing though - the only explanation I can find for the US's foreign policy at the moment is that you want to make up for being late for the last two world wars by being really punctual this time around. Dickhead.

  • this isn't english class, so fuck the shift key. if you want grade papers, teach a course.

the only benefit i can find is the amount of laughter i get listening to you brits. about the wars, i asked you not to make me say it. we weren't late, it wasn't our fight (until someone made it our fight, but there's something hinkey about that story also). we saved your ass, and if it happened again you would need your ass saved again. lets not forget what happened, it's not "dickheaded", it's history.

  • Wasn't it the Japanese that made it your fight when they all but wiped out your Pacific fleet while you were half asleep? Before that you seemed to be more than happy to let Britain and the Soviet Union take the strain while you decided whose side to be on. For three years.

Ever since then you have repeatedly tried the shock and awe tactics and got your own asses kicked out of Vietnam, Somalia etc. etc. Sad, really.

  • so true, as a mater of fact our current president's family made there initial fortunes supporting hitler. but what about the colonies you got your asses kicked out of? didn't they span the globe? and as i recall WE kicked YOUR asses out, so what's your point. all empires rise and fall, your's did. so will ours in time. but right now, who's the super power?

  • Yes, we all have a great deal to be proud of. So perhaps shooting your mouth off on YouTube in the first place wasn't such a good idea, eh? Over and out. Work to do, and all that, old chap.

  • what was so bad about that idea. i enjoy pissin you guys off it's just too easy. i'll raise my pint to ya though, it's fun bullshitin!

  • if it werent for dumb cunt yanks like you the brits wouldnt lose half the people they did in iraq and afghanistan

and also we never asked for your help in ww2 you just produced stuff that we needed coz we told you to and whp asked us to help them in iraq?

it werent you yamks by any chance was it?

  • ya i guess you guys would have got out of ww2 by yourselves. i mean you were doing so well when we can along, i suppose you're lucky we didn't completely screw that up for you guys.

  • we wee doing fine thanx and we had already lasted nearly 2 years before you had decided to come onto the war

  • i'm sure we could have stayed home and you would have been fine. i mean i always think to myself, things arn't really going our way until they bomb our capital, so i can see what you mean. i'm sorry, i spoke out of turn (dripping sarcasm implied).

  • And er how well would America have coped if it was 15 miles away from attack instead of 4000???

  • does it matter? that wasn't the case? what if england had developed an atomic bomb? what if france wasn't a bunch of candy asses? what if hitler hadn't bitten off more than he could chew? what if monkeys fly out of my ass. hypotheticals are fun and all, but that doesn't change what happened. woody seems to have a skewed version of history and seems to believe some rather silly ideas about both brittan and america. but it's fashionable to hate us these days, so i guess truth is mute.

  • so is that y i have a degree in history??

  • rbccspb is giving us brits a bad name, to be honest i welcome our american allies, as you said shit happens in war, i dont like the friendly killing nor do i see the benifit from your air support when we brung our own (you shot a chopper our down too lol) like i said its not your air support we benifit from, we both benifit from the whole alliance =), discard rbccspb and his spelling fettish. not all brits are as pathetic as him ;)

  • i kinda figured, but i seem to have a way of getting under peoples skin, so i don't really hold it agains him or any brits. lets face usa isn't that popular right now anyway.lol.

  • lol yeah agreed, your allright =)

  • thanx, i'll raise a pint to brothers across the pond whne i get home tonight. YA HEAR THAT GUY? NO HARD FEELINGS, JUST HARD TIMES.

  • i've never heard that claim. where did you hear it?

  • your comments make me laugh hysterically, granted the US might be a "SUPERPOWER"... but of what? as far as I can see its the global economy and look what a mess you constantly make of that especially considering the good old US of A are in debt to china for approx. two and a half trillion dollars. Me thinks you all live under false premises and ideals. Before you start another reply, yes the UK live in america's shadow but who's shadow are you in...

  • @tomazza99 I am an American. I am also a pilot. I can't stand the constant idiocy put forth by our "leaders" over here. Our national debt is something that I worry about every day (I am a business student). Please do not lump us all together as a mess of fools that "live under false premises and ideals." I am very conscious of the condition of our nation and the varying opinions of it. But your rash generalization is parallel in ignorance to those made by many other individuals here.

  • actually you are totally wrong about technically advanced. We dont even know what the russian military has been doing for the last 60 years for starters also given that the british german and italians collaborated in making even higher advanced technology. That includes the computer systems being part of the raf, which is more advanced than any american plane.

  • Pff kids

In the begining, that was the fastest formation turn iv ever seen :|

  • yea, real scary...

  • how the hell is this scary??

  • haha scary? if u thought that was scary, why stand at the end of a friggin runway?

  • Judging the USAs record in recent wars if it was the US Airforce maybe a very scary landing but this is the British RAF...if it was US personel flying them you'd have probably been bombed bluefunkybassman...

  • i wish my airport had a close viewing spot as good as that (cardiff)

  • what's so scary about that?

  • Umm - maybe the fact that they were landing right over our heads and, being single-engined aircraft, an engine failure on final approach could have been disastrous for us.

  • it would have been disasterous for the pilot, not u lol

  • lol, having seen the Reds dozens of times I can say there is no way this is scary. 'right over our heads' - damn what did you expect standing under the runway? if you are scared by this dont stand in the flightpath...

  • the runway looks wavy... or is it wavy?

  • It is wavy. You will never see a RWY which is on the same level. Every runway is abit wavy.

  • Well personally, I believe that the Red Arrows and Blue Angels are just as good as each other...

  • dont think so we got the typhoon fighter now, which was tested against the f16, an came out on top.

  • Ever wondered why the Red Arrows won't do a display with the blue Angels? FRIENDLY FIRE!

  • just one thing, how was that scary?

  • Shut up dick head, who the fuck are the blue angles? The RAF have superior pilots without a doubt.
