WRONG! The United States economy is in a free-fall and turning on the printing press is not the answer. I was in the sub-prime lending business and called this shit years ago. Not that hard to see really with the lending policies that were in place. The US is bankrupt and will default on their debt. What are you yammerin' on about? It was the Democrat controlled Congress that sent the Wall Street bailout bill to Bush's desk. The opposition to that was from the Republican minority--conservatives. Bush does not = conservative, and Wall Street is mostly liberals anyway.

The only answer the Republicans can come up with is TAX BREAKS. The BUSH Tax breaks didn't help, (how much money did we spend and send to Iraq?) That was just a way to DISTRACT the people from the WAR. The American people want jobs, not more hand outs. Hell, if I lost my job tomorrow, I'd go dig ditches, pick fruits & veggies, work from sun up till sun down, to put food on the table, keep a roof over my head. My dad did it, and so can I. Republicans have been busy offering plenty of ideas to make this bill better, but are being shut out by the Democrats. About 10% of the bill is for infrastructure, and most of the spending won't kick in before 2010. Again, if you divide the 800 billion by the number of jobs Obama claims it will save or create (3 million), you get well over $200,000 PER JOB. I don't know about you, but I'd take the $200,000. Instead of this bill, every unemployed person in the country could get $20,000+ cash!

Republicans aren't saying "do nothing." They are saying Democrats are doing the wrong thing. Doing nothing would be better than doing the wrong thing, particularly when you're talking a trillion dollars in debt. Moreover, public support for this bill has collapsed, yet Obama and the Democrats insist on rushing it through. It is Republicans representing the will of the American people right now, as indicated by national polls.

Does anyone actually believe Obama has read even half this bill? 1500+ pages! As fast as he's trying to ram it down our throats, nobody in Congress would have time to read the whole thing either. All you need is some basic math to judge the insanity. Divide the 800 billion by Obama's ever-shrinking estimate for the number of jobs it will save or create: $800,000,000,000 / $3,000,000,000 = $266,666 PER JOB! They should just give every man, woman and child in the country $2,500 cash! Good grief.

Ron Paul was brilliant on domestic issues; I'll give you that. I would've supported him enthusiastically had he not echoed the far left on immediate withdrawal from Iraq. (speaking of hypocrisy, so much for Dems and Obama getting us out of there.) Apart from Iraq I agree with you and Paul seemed to be the only one who truly cared about following the Constitution. Republicans may have lost their way; I prefer to see their unanimous opposition to the stimulus bill in the House as a spark of hope.

You speak as if all Republicans supported the war. No, not true at all. I'm all for money being spent for the US but the money should be invested back to the PEOPLE not more government programs. That's not a stimulus, that's a gov't appropriation. The stimulus doesn't adequately address the housing marking, at-home drilling, etc. Allocating $600 mill to assist tv viewers to switch from analong to digital is one of the ridiculous line items of this so-called "stimulus"
