  • Where I come from, we call them Mafuti (mah-foo-tee) It's a type of snapper.

  • Good fish, caught about 4 of them now, Very rare from Mackay,

  • Our rates are very affordable, and we take alot of normal people out for the day, We have the toughest fishing regulations, bag limits and reef fish closures during spawning periods to ensure the viability of the reef and it's fishery. We've just had the best Spanish Mackerel season that I can remember in the last 10 years, once again tough bag limits. Have a go at the pro fisherman and netters who do the damage to fish stocks!!

    Cheers Greg

  • Hi, you'll find most of your coral trout among the reef edges, but the red emporer love the deep water, you need a good sounder and we catch our good ones in about 50 m of water in open country. Have a look at our Furuno FCV 585 video has some great footage of the sounder and show's you what to look for. Well worth a look and depends on your area, try get a general area from your local tackle shop if you know them well enough and does take time to find the spots, but well worth it, Cheers Greg

  • Where do you guys fish

  • Hi, we're based from the Mackay Marina, Queensland, Australia, and are spoilt with some awesome reef fishing on the Great Barrier Reef,

    Cheers Greg

  • We are pretty luck as well - I live up in Mossman far north Queensland - (The closest town to the great barrier reef- i have heard) We mainly target trout, thanks for your reply.

  • Distance is definately a problem for us with huge distances, we travel 80 - 100 kilometres on our daytrips and the reef starts at approx 100 k's for us, half your luck, Do you get many Red's up there?

    cheers Greg

  • Yes, however you need to know what your doing - location wise. We mainly target trout by hanging off bombies. I hear finding rubble pacthches is the best place to find reds, any tips on finding them
