  • What song is playing at 4:23?

  • @Revenge4077 "Descent into Mystery", Batman's soundtrack by Danny Elfman! The audio is not excellent!!

  • In the comics Batman is 6'2" 220lbs, so yeah I imagine there was some concern with casting Keaton, lol

  • It's a shame that Bob Kane passed before the Nolan Batman movies came out. It would have been interesting to see what he would think about them, especially The Dark Knight.

  • 8:39 LMAO!!!! :D

  • stop talking shit about Christopher Nolans Batman!!!

the old Batman is awesome and the new one too...everybody should just like what he likes and not say that the old or the new batman suck!

  • @ShadyRealRap96 You said it

  • @ShadyRealRap96 i think the new batman movies are the best but the old ones are good too

  • @yohb7 exacly my opinion too lol :D

  • @ShadyRealRap96 what i dont get is why people think if one is better the other sucks but why cant they be both good

  • @ShadyRealRap96

    Nolan sucks ass.

Made batman and gotham boring as hell.

  • @Skeletonwitharaygun youre just nor opened for something different..

only becouse its diffrent doesnt mean it sucks or is boring...

millions of ppl paid for watching it so it cant be that boring to these ppl...

you may find it boring but thats just your opinion

  • @ShadyRealRap96 No, I'm open to something different. I enjoy most interpretations of batman. Nolan's however...DOES sucks and IS boring. Perhaps not as a movie...but as a batman movie. Just because they paid to see it doesn't mean they liked it. I paid to see it on opening night...and was very disappointed in what I had seen. It's an awful batman movie. He even made Gotham boring as hell. He made it.....Chicago.W.T.F
  • Nolan Batman Movie= More depth. Great story. Great casting.

Burton Batman Movie= Cool looking city, Batman hardly talked, Awsome Bat-ride.

Imagine these two guys working together...

  • @DecentExposureMedia What I like of Nolan's movies is that the scripts are well made and with interesting evolutions. 1989 "Batman" is my favourite movie, but the story lacked of something, especially it was too superficial treating the Joker's plot to poison people, it should have had more space in the story!! Begins had this great story evolving from a start then to an end!! However, Burton's Batman is better for many things that Nolan could never achieve, after all, Burton is Burton :D

  • Why does everyone have to be a fanboy? Why can there not be TWO cool Batman styles? Keaton's was fine at the time and Bale's is the best right now. In years to come there may be a third version better than the first two. Chill out haters.

  • 1:49 - it says FAPPPPPPPPPPPPP!! hahahah

  • keaton is batman bale is a guy in a batman suit

  • The only thing the new batman has is more realism in some aspects and better technology, everything else is inferior to the original

  • I didn't realize Burton was so young when he directed Batman...

  • thx for this vid!

  • 80's batman is the best

  • @jazzmann16

What do you think of the sequel Batman Begins, the animated series, the animated movies Mask of the Phantasm or the new Batman movies?

  • @Johnlindsey289 I PREFER 80 batman but in general i love All things that got Batman on it exept the Batman and Robin movie that really sucked....But I love the animated series genius cartoon the best on evermade. But the batman cartoons that come after sucked ass well they werent dark enough I think. I also like the new Batman movies and the actors in it ( Kane, Freeman, Oldman=the best of the best. and offcourse bale he is perfect for batman now. But I don't like his voice do..

  • Props to Tim Burton for making two freakin awesome movies !! I think the only thing he did wrong was kill off the villains ! Arkham would have made these films almost perfect.

  • @montoyag76 Wel,l that was back when Burton thought that powerful villains deserve to die.

  • Prince...Rock artist? yeah, I don't think so...

  • I am disappointed that Prince wasn't mentioned in this documentary. He made an excellent soundtrack to the film.

  • @ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD he was mentioned at the beinning

  • @ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD Burton screwed up...in all respects by hiring Prince. He didn't want to date the film but in hiring him he did just that. Granted that the soundtrack was good

  • @beast72486

He mentions in the commentary on the DVD that prince wan't his idea.lol

That it was his first experience with higher ups forcing their ideas on a project.

  • When this Batman came out it was a very exciting time that summer. It was just the summer of Batman, super hype everywhere, fun times. Prince's soundtrack also had some insanity to it, its based on the duality of evil/good, etc. one of Prince's great works. The outtakes are pretty great too.

  • 5:33 It's VERY scary Mr. Burton. Especially to a 7 year old boy which I was when I saw this movie

  • Adam west should've been Alfred

  • 3:22 That laugh is a great Joker laugh.

    Jack Nicholson is THE MAN!!!

  • Michael Keaton and Kevin Conroy are the best batmans and always will be.

  • It's almost like someone went back in time and stopped Tim Burton from fulfilling his potential.

Like in some alternate timeline, Tim Burton isn't a fadshark.

  • Reaganomics + Proxy Wars + Crack Epidemic + AIDS, the 1980s gave birth to a lot of grimey material

  • You can't please everybody. I liked all the Batman movies (some more than others).

I remember when the first one came out - Batman purests were horrified that his costume was bullet proof. Hey! Welcome to the "real" world.

  • @TomatoeAssassin I know what you mean. It's a real shame that some people are so narrow-minded.

  • Fuck that old fag Batman.

  • I love the original 89' batman just as much as anybody else but if your gonna write how crappy nolan's batman films are and how tim burton & keaton are the best then do me a favor take your copy of batman begins and the dark knight dvd/blu-ray(because i know you fucken own them) break them in half, throw them in the fire until they become ashes and watch batman 89 over and over again. And when The Dark Knight Rises comes out in movies stay home dont even bother seeing it because you'll have Batman

  • @wolfman8796 fuckin excellent comment,just ace lol

  • 9:35 Best fucking advertisement ever.

  • I can only imagine at the reaction of Mr mom and beetle juice being batman and Oh man were they ever wrong lol

  • i know that i'm stupid but the first nicholson's movie i see was batman and when saw for the first time the shining i just can't stop LAUGH ! cause i was always thinking about the joker LOL tim burton and jack nicholson rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i have the complete score

  • I personally think Keaton is the better Batman & Bale is the better Bruce. Keaton portrays the craziness/duality of Batman much better. You're never sure whether Keaton will just completely crack or keep it together & save the day. Bale is always in control of Batman's role & his lion roar voice is plain annoying. Keaton's voice as Batman/Bruce is something I will always associate with the 80s. I've always preferred Keaton's Batmobile, too. Bale's looks too simple.

  • RIP Anton Furst.

  • @yellowcougar18 I am so angry he commit suicide. He was one of the greatest artists that lived.

  • @gambitrocks It is heart-breaking. But at least he is at peace now.

    R.I.P Anton.

  • The Soundtrack to BATMAN 1989 was (By my opinion) THE BEST THEATRICAL SOUNDTRACK EVER MADE FOR A MOVIE.... Not Jurassic Park, Not BATMAN Dark Knight, not E.T. or any of that shit... Danny Eflman's FINEST WORK EVER was Batman 1989. I still listen to it this day. Beauiful Dreamer anyone?

  • @mrjustin5 Sadly, it is largely copied from the soundtrack to the Lon Chaney film The Wolfman. I say sadly, because I used to be a fan of it too...and then someone commented on it, I compared it, and they were right.

  • @yellowcougar18 Can't hear the similarities. Anyone can chek it: nRmNOJ8gqnI

  • Comment removed

  • Adam's Batman is gay.

  • @ 9:19 i have the pez dispenser

  • Petition Michael Keaton not to return as Batman, but only to don the cape and cowl again to reaffirm that he is the one and only Dark Knight. KEATON FOREVER!

  • you will never beat jack nicholson

  • Just showed how good Tim Burton´s Batman was !!! And the casting of Michael Keaton was NOT wrong !! It was a brilliant ! He needed an actor that had a look in his eyes that told you this man was not sane !!

  • Danny Elfman FTW

  • The young Burton somewhat reminds me of Zack De La Rocha.

  • Both Christian Bale and Michael Keaton were great as Batman, I just liked Bale better. I feel he had more depth. Keaton is EXCELLENT though, no question, the Nolan Bat flicks are just in an entirely different realm...

  • Keaton is a great Batman, but I think Christian Bale was better. Keaton is excellent though, but Bale is just my personal preference.

  • @FilmMakar

Bale is such a faggot, Keaton is better than that growly voiced excuse for an actor.

  • @FilmMakar at least you can understand keaton..

  • @ForgottenMemoriesFM I really don't understand everyone's beef with Bale's take on Batman's voice. I think it's well done and purposeful. I completely understand his intentions.

However, I'll admit it gets pretty strenuous to listen to, especially in "The Dark Knight." Still, I really like that take. Also, Nolan's Batman has more dialogue to deliver than Burton's Batman, so Keaton as Batman can get away with not disguising his voice because it is heard less frequently in the movies.

  • @FilmMakar so true i actually never thought about it that way.

  • @TheFilipinoBoxer No disrespect, whatsoever, to Keaton. Keaton owned that role, I just personally like Bale better. Keaton's great though. He's one of the most underrated actors of all time, I'd say.

  • @FilmMakar Keaton potrays batman better than bale.

  • @j04370859 you cant compare bale to keaton

  • @TheTwilightSagaSucks no you cant compare bale to keaton cause bale is a little boy in keatons shadow

  • @j04370859 too fuckin true

  • ABC 20/20 show segment on Batman

  • Best to worst Batman

    1. Michael Keaton

    2. Val Kilmer

    3. George Clooney

    4. Adam West

    5. Christian Bale

  • agree

  • Keaton is my favourite Bat,man, he has the most beautiful eyes and I love his lips.... I always wanted to kiss Batman

  • Jack Nicolson`s joker laugh is so epic

  • @uchiharuin Tell me about it. The part where you hear his insane laughing after he got his plastic surgery done gives me the chills every time.

  • What is this from originally? Anyone recognize the narrator's voice?

  • @AdamHy1 Is that Chuck Henry narrating?

  • christian bale sux. keaton is and will always be the best

  • Bullshit at 4:51 mark. That was Bill finger and Jerry Robinson that created the Joker.

    Kane fucked over Finger.

  • @nightwing01 thats always been controversy but no one can really say the story is always changing... bob told bill about the idea from the the man who laughs and he drew it after... then theres ones that bill and jerry did it...then ones that bill alone did.. bob always said bill drew it but takes credited for the idea ... like stan lee he never designed the characters and to be honest spiderman wouldn't have been a big success if drawn diferently yet he gets all the credit... its a tough one

  • Brilliant, one of Jack Nicholson's best roles!! :D:D

  • these two batmans are my life, i love them and were the best ever. loved my childhood. proud lifelong batman fan here,

  • pause at 1:41 some of the art is blurred?

  • Gracias Bob por crear a un personaje con el que hemos crecido y al que tanto queremos.

  • The old Batman movies are the best (except for batman and robin with mr freeze). When I see the year and still this movie gives me the thrills I can say only - HUGE SUCCESS.

  • i like that bit about where Cane got his idea for Joker, really looked like him.

  • Kane

  • Bill Finger is getting his due today. Finger is always mentioned as the cocreator by comic historians and journalists. But because of legalities only Bob cane is the official creator with the licensed and official Batman products.

  • Segment? Where are others?

  • I miss this art deco Gotham. Miss this music. Miss the Animated Series. Miss being able to understand what Batman's saying.

  • you, sir, have good taste.

  • I'm a girl, and thank you ;-)

  • @stitchgrl777 Amen brother

  • the art deco was cool, but really got out of hand, its actualy called German Expressionism. 1920's Norferatu was one of the best of the genre, although there were other awsome silent movies of the era.

  • @stitchgrl777 Yeah, I agree. Batman's world has to be different from our own a little. I found Nolan's movies good, but it never made me say "Wow, I so want to visit that place." Because, well, it's just Chicago.

  • @CinemastormNitro Burton created Gotham City with Anton Furst, it's like another world!! The neo-gothic architecture is amazing, a real work of art!!

  • @stitchgrl777 lol I like The Dark Knight but the Batman voice did bug me at times and sounded ridiculous at times too.

  • @stitchgrl777 FUCK bale

  • @stitchgrl777 hahaha.. agreed!

  • bob Kane is full of shit. Bill Finger created virtually every aspect of the Batman character.

  • You do realise that you can't have one without the other right? And that every aspect is not true, it's the same with every superhero, each writer is responsible in their own way for contributing to the character

  • Bob Kane wasn't a writer. You know nothing.

  • @MackyMackn I know that Detective Comics #27, which came out on the 2nd of May 1939, featured Batman's first appearence. And I was talking about Bill Finger, and how he couldnt have created every aspect of Batman. Examples being Frank Miller, Grant Morrison and Alan Moore, helped mature Batman greatly. And dont bitch about Bob Kane, without his original sketchings and ideas, Bill Finger wouldnt have had the chance to produce Batman entirely.

  • "'virtually' every aspect" quite the difference. Your reading comprehension skills are lacking. Bob Kane made millions because of Finger and Finger died in poverty, so fuck Kane.

  • @MackyMackn Uh-huh, your basically criticising a 14-year old right now. You have a damn good point, and I can understand from where your coming from, but as I said earlier you can't have one without the other. Without Bill Finger we wouldn't have had the starting aspects of batman, but without Kane's idea and drawings it wouldn't have even gone to a storyboard.

Can I ask: Is there some petition to have Bill Finger credited for Batman, I've looked through issues and haven't seen his name at all

  • Well, Finger gave Batman the cape (originally he had wings) and made his eyes all white, but that's it. It's interesting to know that neither of them came up with Batman's parents being murdered.

  • huh? Finger wrote Batman's origin of his parents being murdered. I don't think you really know anything, do you?

  • No, actually it was Gardner Fox.

  • Ok. Where's your source? Gardner Fox created a few gadgets, that's all.

  • Okay, I did some research, and I guess you're right. You win.

  • You win. You learned something.

  • I still feel bad that the last Batman film Bob Kane saw when he was alive was Batman & Robin... too bad he didn't see the Nolan films...

  • he was born in 1915. give him a break. jees, you people want all of these old man to do back flips, and walk marathons. Stop being selfish, and allow them to die.

  • @maveholic

they got movie theater in heaven

  • /watch?v=AiGcXhUsKew

  • Superman has to be different from Batman.

Superman has to be the role model. The all-around good guy who is bright and shines through the day.

Batman is dark and complex. He is an average guy who witnessed his parents death and vowed to take on the scum of Gotham City by using his intelligence.

Fair enough,Supermans parents also died, but he was just a baby and did'nt know his parents like Bruce Wayne knew his parents. And Superman grew up with his good-natured foster parents. Bruce had no-one.

  • Well he had Alfred

  • I have this whole thing on VHS, I wish we could see all of it here.

  • Hope I'm around to see the centennial anniversary of The Batman. No matter who plays him, what counts is that the Dark Knight is still lurking in the darkness bringing justice to Gotham in a cape and cowl.

  • Gotham City itself is the real star of the film.

  • I believe that Joseph Gordon-Levitts would be a great choice if Nolan would have joker in the next installment.

  • Nolan should stay away from the Joker now. He should do something else entirely. Don't come back a and try and beat what Ledger did in this kind of style.

That's what Bryan Singer did in Superman Returns. He got someone who looks like Reeve and got him to act the same and look what happened. Negative reactions from the fans and the movie bombed.

It's a death wish to try and immitate Ledger in Nolan's Batman world. And I don't think any actor would want to try.

  • well he should like mention tha joker like in arhkam

  • A mention would be fine and even flashbacks would be good but don't for the love of god re cast him.

  • Keaton was the best Batman. And will always be!!

  • exactly what i was thinking !

  • @nesssaja behind kevin conroy!

  • @nesssaja The best Batman will always be Kevin Conroy. He's just perfect. Best Joker will always be Mark Hammill.

  • i think these r my top fav composers 1. john williams 2.danny elfman 3.harry gregson williams

  • Cant beat an original

  • when you watch bettlejuice, you'd think keaton would have been the joker.

  • nahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Keaton will ALWAYS be the bat

  • I think that's what Keaton WANTED in the first place, LOL

  • Nope.

  • ¿Porque no incluyeron este documental en la edición especial del DVD?

  • lol

  • so is not english , its american hahahahah

  • Bob Kane is my hero

  • RIP.

  • Anton Furst was the true genius of this movie, i like begins more but anton was one of the best production designers ever.

  • this batman is short but he still make a good batman at its time and joker was bigger then batman but still a good movie

  • growing up with a much darker batman, that picture of adam west as batman with a goofy grin on he's face makes me sad.lol

  • Bob Kanes full of crap. He created Birdman...

  • you shut your mouth

  • True, Bill Finger created the Batman. I can't stand to hear Kane talk about how he "created" Batman.

  • actually kane came up with the idea and finger helped him modify it

  • If by modify you mean giving Batman a cowl instead of the domino mask, a cape instead of wings, gloves, removing the red sections from the original costume, and devising the name Bruce Wayne, then yes Bill Finger modified it.

  • Yeah, true Finger should get more credit than he does but Bob Kane is still awesome for thinking of the original idea.

  • in a way bob kane ''created'' batman but bill finger really did all the work, but either way bill finger didnt have the idea in his mind saying ''ill make a bat-man!'' bob did, and bill did EVERYTHING else.

  • bob kane was a dick he didnt give credit to bill finger co creator of batman look it up

  • Did anyone realize that the woman conducting in the beginning of this video was Shirley Walker? The composer of Batman The Animated Series.

  • R.I.P Bob Kane, you have created the most awesome superhero of all time!

  • close*

  • the joker origin stroy in batman 89 is actualy very lose to that of the one told in The Killing Joke.

  • I heard something that Tim Burton's idea for Batman 3 (BM: Forever) was going to have the Riddler as a darker version of himself. Not the Jim Carrey in the Riddler suit type. I also heard Burton's choices were either Johnny Deep (who's also a rumor now) and Robin Willaims. Can anyone tell me if it's true?

  • I agree as well. They claim to have made both Batman and James Bond more serious for modern audiences, but IMO all they've done is strip the fun out of the characters while still keeping the bad punchlines (eg Oldman's 'gotta get me one of those'). Upon reflection, Batman 89 may not have gotten it all right, but I still find it a lot more exciting than Begins. I haven't bothered with The Dark Knight. Too many people like it, ala The Simpsons Movie. I trust the minority.

  • I agree with mk00y1, Burton's movies had character and personality, Nolan has an extremely bland directing style, there's no distinction.

  • Keaton will always be Batman to me, Bale was LAUGHABLE in TDK, he sounded like a constipated horse.

  • Burton's movies had character and personality, Nolan's are bland and boring.

  • Do only good looking people have the rights to to play superheroes? thats dumb!!

  • Hey, man, Keaton's HOT!
