  • Unsure on how you can dislike this song... His voice is so love, instantly makes me happy.

  • SUPERB...!

I remember the old Boomerang channel...the spot with Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy...!!

    Tears from my eyes...!

    Thank you very much...!!!! =')

  • Thankyou!!

  • a beautiful man on stage or in person. what a loss

  • This music gives wings to my heart....thank you Jimmy....I love you.

  • Jimmy Durante was asked to do a Celaberty roast. he said no Because he did not like to make fun any one.

  • Thanks for the memories. Young at heart always. The 50's years, the best time.Awesome video. Unforgettable. The best time.!!!

  • Hachacha

  • He could hardly sing, but could he ever sing!

  • One of a kind.

  • Great song! This is the original!

  • Best version of this song. I still don't understand how modern music has become what it is?!

  • I know of Jimmy Durante from the Swedish comedian Peter Flack. He usually worms in a musical impersonation of Durante in his shows <3

Don't worry people, as long as we keep playing the music it WILL be passed on to the next generation. And the next. It's a matter of treasuring and talking about the music and the artists, making sure it's remembered :)

  • Wonderful music from a very enchanting time period. Today's music cannot compare.

  • It's hard to stop short from crying when you hear that! More touching than Frankie's rendition.

  • I saw Jimmy in person at The Hollywood Bowl about 1956. He was sensational.

  • an era gone by, this generation will never know of this kind of music, songs with heart

  • @dannyguidry1 i'm sixteen and i love this music. nothing could ever compare to this music. i haven't heard one recent song with this much heart in it.

  • As a child ......I just loved this guy

Thanks Jimmy for all the laughs ......

    Miss ya!

  • oh all these songs reminds me so much of my granda, he used to walk around whistling and singing to them :)

  • Happy song =D

  • This was before my time, but it is timeless, nonetheless...

  • One of the True Greats of All-Time, he just makes me feel so good with his songs.

  • Thank you.

  • He was one in a million.

  • My grandmother told us she was Mrs. Calabash. We believed it for so many years! What a beautiful memory!

  • Real talent that touched the heart instead of the pocketbook. Before Hollywood sculpted stars, this guy is the real deal. He was even called The Schnooze! Gotta' love this guy.

Thanks to whomever posted it on YouTube. Memory lane and tears to my eyes. Just love this stuff.

  • @DiveCatalina1

    Schnozzle.

    xx

  • @charliemctruth actually, schnozzola =]

this was my grandpa's favorite song. always makes me think of him...

  • @charliemctruth "His jokes about his nose included referring to it as a "Schnozzola", and the word became his nickname." Wikipedia ;) But still one of the greatest stars that ever existed :)

  • Great man and a great video of him.....TKS soo much

  • Wonderful lyrics, wonderful tune, and wonderful singer!

  • they played this at my grandmothers funeral because she loved this song and it really hurts me to listen to it but bringsb ack good memories also

  • this song makes me fall in love with the world all over again!

  • Sinatra made a nice version on this too, probably the original, not sure...but this one is simply amazing as well. This voice is one of a kind

  • Solo una cosa que decir:

BOOMERANG, LO BUENO VUELVE. INCLUSIVE TU INFANCIA...

    English translation

Boomerang, it's all coming back to you. Even your childhood

R.I.P: Boomerang de Cartoon Network, Latinoamérica (1/7/2001-3/4/2006), NUNCA OLVIDAREMOS CUÁN FELICES HICISTE NUESTRAS VIDAS. YOU ARE MISSED... SO SO SO MUCH!

I'm saying this because this song represented Boomerang from Cartoon Network's channel here at Latin America. But now... it's gone, all of it, gone forever since 2006

  • I feel like waltzing...

  • The absolute best showman. He projected such loving, sweetness and optomisim. I saw him in the 70's. I was a teenager and he touched my heart despite my being into hard rock. Got his autograph even/

  • @cailleachthehag You have an autograph from one of America's greatest entertainers, you are so lucky!

  • believe me i'm crying now

  • @bvg83 me too.

  • Love the SCHNOZ. God bless Durante. He could sing a little too. Great song. Greaseball Jr is back to his youth running those good old streets of Detroit.

  • @Jazzticism -- leave for where? The song says "if" and is only meant for those who are truly "Young at Heart." At 69 I am still going strong on the tennis court and in every other place which matters to me. It's an individual thing. By the way, My Uncle Johnny Richards ( Cascales) wrote this ballad in 1953. He died in 1968 at the age of 56.

  • Hmm, it's strange that this music is so calming. Music from the 1930s - 1960s was (in my opinion) the best to touch the earth. I'm not exactly a fan of 1700s classical music myself and nothing is worse than the overpopularized cheaply-produced unemotional garbage produced monthly to make idiots like Jay-Z (am I spelling that right?) and Kanye West richer. These were the golden years of music and its a shame that there isn't more of this today.

  • he sang this song from the bottom of his heart, and he wuz a great entertainer in Coney Island back in the mid 40's My Aunt dated him !!!

  • Big song

  • I met Jimmy Durante once and he was the sweetest and nicest person

loved when he took up his singing .

  • Did Jimmy really sing this? He was an actor not an singer.

  • THE SCHNAZZ!!!

Johnny Carson had fun with this.... One of his jokes was.... "I hear that Dick Cavett was having one of his theme shows on PBS where Karl Malden Jimmy Durante and Dumbo the Elephant discuss problems with the common cold"....

    bad joke.. :-P

  • ...more than rice and beans. You, Anngail, are the girl of all my dreams. If I live to be one hundred it won't be time enough to have held you, to have loved you. Always, your D.M.

  • @partlymedia I have to live to 105 now - making up for lost time. With you I am really young at heart - young IN my heart. I love you - b&r.

    Your sweet girl.

  • Duper recording.

I attached a kinescioe edited from

The Jimmy Durante - Give My Regards to Broadway.

  • What a wonderful song!!!

  • Reminds me of my Dad .......sniff

  • This song reminds me of the movie "It could happen to you" with Nicholas Cage and Bridget Fonda. Brings back wonderful memories.

  • Good night, Mr. Durante. Wherever you are.

  • a beautiful song ='(

  • Heard this in City Slicker when I was a kid and have been looking for it ever since. Thank you so much. Gonna listen to this forever.

  • it was mrs calabash

  • Love this sing, I wasn't even born when it was out, but man there's something about these classic songs that truly outshine most, if not all music coming out these days. Inspirarional.

  • @osito1177 So, so true, I really love these classical legends. inspirational and I hope, forever remembered.

  • One of the best: song and the man singing

  • O amor é tão curto e o esquecimento é tão longo - Pablo Neruda

  • What a unique entertainer this man was..

  • You don't find talent like this anymore. But then, we don't have Vaudivile anymore, either. Jimmy was a true entertainer and I'll always miss him.

  • Jimmys house still stands on Northern Blvd in Auberndale Queeens

  • Nice and thank you.

  • Where have you gone Jimmy. The country needs to smile again.

  • Good Night Miss Calabash

Some of the greatest music in the world.

Remember his TV show early 1950's

Jimmy Durante , Thanks for the Memories .

    Sir David

  • Your welcome..

    Lord Charlie

  • I have to say this interpretation really touchs me very deep... I am italian, I can not understand all the words, but I understand the meaning of the "message".

I like the sound, the rithm, and the stile of this intense voice, and i feel happy and melancholy!

  • 0:16 iz kinda creepy

  • thank you jimmy loved your shows r.i.p.

  • Goodnight Mrs Calabash, wherever you are.

Thank you Jimmy, for all the memories. Rest in peace and know you will never be forgotten !!

  • may the soul of jimmy durante rest in the palm of God for eternity

  • It's not weird at all. Modern music can't touch this stuff.

  • @wallflower419 ohhhhh yeah 100% with you on that!

  • THE Master Showman. God bless you Jimmy.

  • My favorite with Burl Ives.

  • Ha cha cha cha cha, I got a million of 'em!

  • Wonderful! Thank you

  • what time frame is he from?

  • His TV show was on in the '50's, but he was around long before then. I miss you, Jimmy! You left us with wonderful memories.

  • Durante started performing in around 1907 when he dropped out of 8th grade. By 1920 he was the leader of his own jazz band, already a 12 year veteran of the stage.

  • When I was young Jimmy was already dead so I didn't have a chance to see him. Now when I watch all of those vids I only see that he was great and most of ppl thinks so too. 5/5 for Jimmy Durante

  • God Bless You Jimmy! I miss you, I miss all the great old ones!

  • the ultimate showman.

  • Hermosa cancion....como la ha cantado jimmy, NADIE....

  • Thank You very much... I needed to hear some really good music and Jimmy`s voice makes everything seem like its going to be ok.. Thanks for posting this

  • Thanks so much. He was one of the BEST!

    Tina

  • He was a good dresser too.

  • I wish there was someway our younger generation were more exposed to this whole era of amazing music that we've missed... All these great artists... :(

  • Wonderful story. Makes one rather sad...in a good reflective way.

  • I remember watching Jimmy on so many shows in the 50s and 60s as a kid. We would watch TV with our family, parents, grandparents. It was great. Everytime I hear his song or see the clips of Jimmy performing it brings back memories. Real good ones too. At almost 56 it doesn't seem so long ago. Well most of the time. :-)

  • Good Night Mrs Calabash wherever you are.

  • Il me fout une sacré trouille lol mais j'aime bien son style ! Merci !

  • I invite you to watch "Boomerang spot - Canuto y Canito" in YouTube.

  • During WWII my mother & father on leave from Navy after sinking on the Yorktown at Midway were having dinner in LA. Jimmy Durante saw they delivered margarine to their table while he was served real butter. He told the waitress to take the butter to my parents because "they deserve it more than me". What a class guy. Can't imagine too many of our hollywood celebrities doing that now.

    Thanks Jimmy, for the memory.

    Jeff

  • love that story.... thanx!

  • @jeffandjune Jeff, my Dad was in the Battle of Midway as well. Check out the Battle of Midway Round table midway42 great guys and great history.

  • @jeffandjune That was typical Durante; just like "Mrs. Calabash", actually a North Carolina restaurant owner in the town of Calabash, NC, named Lucille Coleman. He was taken with her friendly demeanor with the customers and told her, "I'm going to make you famous." Soon afterward, he began closing his performances by adding at the very end, "And goodnight, Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are." I think my favorite photo of him was of young Judy Garland putting a flower in his lapel. Typical Durante.

  • @ThomasASwilling it was actually about his dead wife who he nicknamedf Mrs. Calabash after her favorite town

  • @MsLissa34 Sorry to disagree, but you're wrong. I learned about his closing line to Mrs. Calabash in an interview years ago--I was a kid then. What I recounted was not Internet lore or urban legend. It is how Durante's famous closing line came to be. There are lots of rumors and speculation about it, but it happened the way I've recounted it in my previous comment.

  • Love this guy.

  • Great Stuff, great memories

  • Love the picture of him with his nose against the baby's.

I still remember a WWII reel where the other guy tells Jimmy he puts manure on his tomatoes, and Jimmy says, "Really? I use mayonnaise!"

    What a genius.

  • the arranger and conductor is roy bargy, it was recorded in 1963, next year's sessions with gordon jenkins were even better (check my posts for jimmy durante's A WAY OF LIFE and I'LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS ...)

  • A truly great showman. Jimmy is still missed.

  • Awesome song, thank you. I love Mr. Durante's voice.

  • thank you! love this song, and only Jimmy's version will do... i remember it from when i was a little kid. i've been waiting for someone to post it. check out Hank Snow, The Last Ride posted by hank2953 and Cremation of Sam Mcgee posted by ryerin , he was another incredible vocalist 'talker'. also try Wayfaring Stranger by Tennessee Ernie Ford posted by TEFSHOW.

  • GREAT SONG!

  • So many memories !! As a little girl with entertainer friends we were invited backstage at Jimmy's live performances at Disneyland's Theater in the Round. I remember his songs and the new car commercial on TV using the tune " Make Someone Happy " brought me here to see if there were any videos of the Great Jimmy D. Thanks for posting it and bringing back such wonderful memories.

  • Did he ever find Mrs. Calabash? He use to tell good night every week on his TV show. He was the greatest.

  • Only 1701 views .... a lot of people are missing out on one of the greatest

  • really nice. Power of positive thinking!

  • It took me a long time to appreciate this man, this artist. I love him.

  • This is magic - there's never been a better version of this song. How lucky we are that this recording survives after so many years.

  • jimmy was the best ***

  • This is still the best version of an old classic. The arrangement is perfect. Does anybody know what orchestra is providing the beautiful background music here?

  • very nice. i like alot
