well not sure if you're christian or not but since the singer is christian it's kind of based around that. When you thought he was talking to a girl it was actually God talking to him when everything seems to be crazy that God will take care of him.

that's an interesting interpretation...when i read it again with the story of the girl in mind i kinda thought maybe he means when he says "maybe god can be on both sides of the gun" that sometimes god gives us great things and other times we meet obstacles because our faith is being tested...so again it's just like him telling the girl he understands that sometimes life's hard...I guess it has many meanings we just gotta figure out which one makes sense to us..Thanks :D

i can see how you think it would be about war and that's what it sounds like to me too. that would be cool if they made a music video for this song and it's like during WWII or some other war and the lead singer (sorry i don't know his name) is singing to some other guy/himself in the war
