  • What people think of when they hear "Austria": vague awareness of an authoritarian nation that gave us Hitler and government schooling

Well, I don't want THAT kind of economics! They're probably racist! Obaaa-aa-a-a-ah muhh, Obaaa-aa-a-a-ah muhh, Obaaa-aa-a-a-ah muhh, ...

    Libertarians, FITFO!

  • @CytherLynx You know, I was about to take you seriously, until you called the opposition to Austrian economics "zombies". I don't give a shit how smart you are, how much of what you say is relevant, or how right you are. Calling people who don't believe in your economic orthodoxy zombies is not winning you any respect from people who are dedicated to social justice. I'd rather be a "zombie" with ethical standards, like liberty, equality, and solidarity, than be an "enlightened" Austrian.

That's funny, the development of Mises' work was largely a rejection of the German historical school, which began when he was a child studying history and found the German/Prussian writings less than credible.

Also ironic is that Mises, an Austrian Jew persecuted by the Nazis, would later save Germany's economy when his writings that had been hidden away in Soviet archives, were uncovered after the Berlin wall fell.

  • ABCT? ...Oh, wait, next question for strongbad. LOL BTW: Among the illiterate, if you want to make something sound politically clueless and obscure, be sure to tack the word "Austrian" on the front of it. ANd yes, I don't care if they are right. I'm on a ship that's sinking because libertarians are too stupid to care about political strategy.

  • @libertarianjury hahaha... well, that's one way to look at... I suggest you watch the video 'why libertarianism fails' by youtubeuser/philosopher stefbot, it will really open your eyes.

  • @libertarianjury He's a libertarian himself btw.

  • Dr. Woods is a great presenter of this material. It's a joy to watch him work. Give him 15 minutes with that hack Krugman and it would be youtube gold.

    Ta,

  • The Austrians explain things so easily to the laymen. I don't know why economists complicate things so much when the fundamentals can be explained easily to the laymen... and most importantly... THEY ARE CORRECT!

  • @LuqmanNaq Well, I think the mainstream economists complicate things just to take us on a wild goose chase so that we never have the chance to think at the fundamental, not so abstract level.

  • @LuqmanNaq

"The Austrians explain things so easily to the laymen. I don't know why economists complicate things so much when the fundamentals can be explained easily to the laymen... and most importantly... THEY ARE CORRECT!"

Well, mainstream (Keynesian) economics is purposely complicated so that laymen would be repelled by it & it is left with a few politicians, bankers & "economists" to run the show & control all the money; it puts them in position of power, Austrian Economics doesn't.

  • @lomocan

"The curious task of economists is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design."

  • @evangrogers They've been going back and forth for a cen-tur-yyy!
