  • @jabba12000 zx's blow I don't care how much u make at the wheel on pump gas. Stock to stock the z28s kill 300s and it doesn't even have to be a ls1 z, lt1s kill them too. Their heavier and lack the tq that the lt1 has. I could throw a bottle in my z28 and murder ur car with about a 80 shot

  • i have a 86 svo, and i was wondering if you did anything else to the car to make that power? right now all i have is a 3" downpipe manual boost valve borla exhaust and i bumped it to 18 lbs of boost. what all do you have done? i'd love to run around the track with 300hp and torque at the wheels...

  • Love me some svo's, I was looking through craigslist the other day and some guy cannibalized one and put a 5.0 in it, made me want to punch a baby. I would kill for one of these cars, nothing against a 5.0 fox body, but these things are rare and should be kept 4 cylinder.

  • I have a 84 all org svo, It is #004 of all the svo's built that yr. 130k org miles, And will still burn a stock 5.0 all day long. Best 1/8 mile time w street tires on 13lbs boost.........8.80. And thats stick boost from factory. Its realy not a drag car, was made to road race. You can take a stock svo, spend about 4k, and it will run in the 10s or better. Haters beware of the svo. It bites back, Quick!!!!!!!!

    IT seems to me the svo is just a 4banger that needs over 20psi to be anywhere near fast. My z makes more hp on stock boost (9psi) than this things makes at 22psi.

My '97 Z28 weighs 3,300 on a scale with a full tank of gas without me in it, and has 295rwhp, and is the slowest car I own. I'm sure you're the coolest kid in your high school with your Z32 though.

    Ha i'm not in high school. And i'm happy to hear your camaro makes 295rwhp. i'm sure the 200 pound difference in the two cars wouldn't matter anyways considering how my Z makes just over 400rwhp on pump gas.

  • @humpme44 Stock 5.0's are nothing ... I put a newer 5.0l 97 ford explorer motor with the gt40 heads in a 4 banger mustang once and it beat stock 5.0 mustangs like nothing..

  • @kingcobra101z stinger has a cam/megasquirt with 75lb injectors thats why he made more power than a stock setup like this...his project bolt on isnt necessarily just bolt on's

  • On this particular run it was 92 plus about 3 gallons of race gas (don't remember the octane). It made the same power on 92, the race gas was put in to try to clear up the top end, but it ended up being the ignition system so the race gas didn't change it.

    Certified Accurate Truck scale reading on 1980 Mustang Ghia hatch was 2866lbs.

  • my xr4ti is about 2920 lb and my pops has a SVO which is about 2992 which is weird because when i drive it seems liter.

    I think its because the suspension is stiffer and it has more low end pic up then the xr4ti.

  • Knucklehead0202 does your 5.0 have 4 wheel discs? Does it weigh 3100 pounds with a half tank of gas? Does it get good gas mileage? Does it have 5 lug wheels? Hurst short shifter? 4 Way shocks in the rear? 3.73 gearing ? All stock? I don't think so, and I know for a fact that with just heads and an exhaust you would be putting down about 240 to the wheels with the 5.0 it is only rated at 225 Crank horsepower stock, know your shit or shut up.

  • Infact, my 85' Gt Cobra does weigh 2900ish lbs (Specifications for the 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 Ford Mustang: Curb-weight range, pounds: 2,568-2,636 (1982); 2,795-2,853 (1986) , gets decent gas mileage on the highway, no 5 lug..but oh well, hurst?.. yes, you can buy better shocks, 3.73 came stock on mine, and mine has a couple bolt ons. My cars rated at 210 HP/ 270 TQ... probably putting out 200 HP/ 250ish TQ due to age. Only 60,000km on it though :)

  • hope that didn't all cost a lot of money. svo's are cool but i pulled better numbers with a stock 5.0 with heads and exhaust. for the money, rather than the mileage, the 5-liter wins every time.

  • I always enjoy dyno pulls, but thats because they are normally ended with big numbers. Theres no numbers here to show what kind of fruit your labor has produced. Its like strip tease, all the goods are right there but you get nothing. How about some numbers?

  • Peak numbers would probably be the only thing you would look at anyways, its a 4 cylinder, im gonna go out on limb and say it peaks out at higher rpm's nub and seeing that its a 2.3L like the one I have in my truck, it probably peaks around 4500-5000 rpms, and the torque peaks down around 2200-2500 rpms.

  • Its the area under the curve that gets you where you want to go and tells you how streetable the package is. I've seen 2.3s peak past 7,000 before, not streetable, but impressive numbers. So no, I don't just look at the peaks. Most people that are truely interested in this look at much more than the peak.

  • wrong set up for that car! by looks it is set up for track not strip. the turbo spools way to late way way to late to be any good on the track. and you would need about a 1/2 mile drag to get this things power. if you have a svo set for track build the t-3 ,or run the IHI turbo with a fmi and you would toast this car.

  • @TURBOPOE ok, for the first thing you said that was ignorant... the svo's were produced to compete with the bmx 3 series in road racing not straight line... and numero 2 i had an ihi on my 84 and swapped it for a holset hx35w turbo off of a diesel and i make 26 psi of boost and run 11.9 in the 1/4 and it spools around 3400 for full boost. please think and do research thank you very much.
