Funny you should mention that.. I've been wanting to break into the Philly radio market for a long time. Blavat told me he was interested in seeing what I could bring to the table and said he'd call me to invite me to the studio, and then I never heard from him again
bout it right this moment. But dang yester day they were passing through and today just a few scattered passing by those that give us the essence of life.
The flip is a great tune... I posted it around the same time I posted this side. For me it's impossible to choose a favorite. These songs are almost polar opposites.. This is a smooth sweet soul ballad and the other is a frantic Northern Soul dancer... Both songs are masterpieces... Fine examples of what Philly had to offer.
@PJDooWop There was also an accapella version of this by a philly group The Destinations (lead singer "Froggy' ?). I imagine this one is quite rare. The Destinations used to sing this under the boardwalk in Wildwood in those days. I noticed that the Butler's version was produced by the late great jazz philly organist Charle Earland. I had copies of both at one time. Thanks for posting this great one.
what a voice

Frankie Beverly must have been a teenager when he released this song. This was years before MAZE came along
