  • Reminds me of my first car, a 65 Sprite. Yours is in much better shape then mine was in. Good luck, and please post some progress pictures.

  • Any updates on the resto???

    Cheers :)

  • Excellent job man, you really need to find the missing parts and paint it, unfortunately I'm still working on my... I really hate my clutch system...

  • Except the paint job is rough !

  • How much was it for the engine to be overhauled ? Because I got one that I'm looking at that the body looks great but the engine could use sum work !?!

  • What was the fuel pump solution, Ice struggled with mine for years - any recommendations for replacement parts?

  • Any more work done on this yet mate (or still too busy with A-levels??)

    regards, john :-)

  • hey im thinking of restoring a midget how much did this cost you roughly?

  • most of the stuff i got with the car. depends on the condition of the chassis and bodywork etc. this one cost around £80 to get running. a full resto would be around £800 - £1000 considering the welding and full respray.

  • ok thanks!

  • Not Bad, any rust??

  • not realy just surface rust here and there

  • what happened to it in the first place do u know? it looked like a front collison or some really bad wearing from sitting for ages

  • you are correct. the prevoius owner had a acciedent, and the chassis had to be put on a jig and straighened. then it stood for about 19 years in a garage.

  • oh please tell me you got it put back together. hahahahahaha

  • yup the front is no now.

work on it has stalled now until i get my A levels over with.

  • *on

    please excuse my illiteracy.

  • Hi: I like your car. Brings back great childhood memories fm my uncle's late 60's Midget. I like the transmission whine a lot, exactly like in my uncle's car.

Thanks for posting this video. Any recent updates to the project?

  • front panels are on new oil filter, new oil, just mainly tidying it up and some more wiring is needed. and a full respray.

  • Great! Is this England? I am writing from the other side of the pond.

  • nope this is wales

  • cool car. so what if it sounds out of tune. It's fuckin running.

  • see my viteo it took 3 60 minits to make go My MGB ON SERCH rate and subscrib. way to go on ferst start

  • sounds to me like its not revving right. the dashpots may need topping off and the carbs may need a little tuning. I like that down flow radiator. what year is this again?

  • yes it does need tuning and an oil change but i wasnt expecting it to start this well and i certainly wasnt expecting perfection. this is a 1962 model. i have seen your midget. i like the datsun 5 speed box. the standard MG one is a little agricultural but has character like the whine noise it makes.

  • I miss the gearbox whine, but you cant beat the overdrive. I've gotten 42 mpg cruising at 55mph before. ABout the brakes, feel around under the rear drums for oil, sometimes the seal between the axel and the hub fails and so gear oil splashes all over the brake shoes. Thats happened to me a few times.

And congrats on getting it running. there really isnt anything thats as encouraging as hearing the engine run. FOr some reason, it makes me feel like everything else is doable.

  • Thanks, i think the next task is getting the engine running smooth and then start putting the panels on. i will take your advice on the brakes and check them tommorow. they are non existant at the moment.
