My first ever football match aged 7. Not sure if we were east or west upper stand, but sitting down with dad and bro because we were so young (bro just turned 5).
I remember the arsenal goal well, and the fact my brother couldn't stop talking about the people on the roof!
STOPPING AT THE WATFORD GAP...LIVERPOOL EVERYWHERE THEY RECKON AT LEAST 12000 MAYBE MORE THAT DAY....THEN ONLY THE ENEMY ARRIVE UNITED ON THE WAY TO SOUTHAMPTON...BRILLIANT...UNITED FUCKING TERRIFIED...DECIDED TO HAVE GAME OF FOOTBALL IN THE CARPARK....THE STICK THEY GOT....& THEN AS THEY GET BACK ON THE COACHES THERE ALL GIVING IT LARGE WANKERS....& AS THINGS LOOK UGLY A COACH PULLS UP IN BETWEEN OURS & THEIRS FULL OF LADS WEARING ORANGE....BLACKPOOL....GIVING IT LARGER THAN ALL BRILL!
BRILLIANT FOOTAGE! WHAT A DAY....& WHAT A TRIP....& AS FOR THE SEASON...A JOY TO BEHOLD....THE GREATEST LIVERPOOL TEAM EACH WEEK WAS INCREDIBLE...QUEUING UP AT THE OLD TICKET OFFICE...OCC BUNKING IN HA! I REM THE DAY £15.00 COACH...TICKET A FEW QUID STRANGELY ONLY THE OTHER DAY FOUND THE MATCH TICKET! BLEEDING ROASTING...SUNHATS ON ...& ME & JAY...16/17 THINKING WERE TOP BOYS. HAHA...GOING OFF AT HALF TIME AT THE BACK OF THE CLOCKEND...HILARIOUS......BUT WITHOUT DOUBT BEST PART OF THE TRIP?
Scorcher of a day, just after my 13th birthday. I went alone (it was my first LFC match) - the crack and banter while waiting to get in to the Clock End was brilliant. No ticket needed - I just turned up and paid £3.50 - a few minutes later I was right behind the goal and in a dream. The atmosphere was amazing, and Stevie Nichol's header came out of nowhere to win it. It's so long ago now; such a happy memory...
@randomjrr1422 The liverpool kit was not blank, the Crown Paints logo was white which made it hard to see on the shirt and was changed to red later that season.
That's the only place I could see some of the match - these toilets were adjacent to the North Bank - so I didn't see Steve Nichol's winner. Had a good view of Aldridge's opener.
This game is faetured in the first chapter of the book Theatre of Silence - The Lost Soul of Football. The contrast is made between the atmosphere at that match and how shit the modern crowd is today.
I was there that day - absolutely roasting hot, and I'm actually on that roof at 1:00.
I remember there was a lull in the game (and the crowd), and one of Arsenal's subs began warming up, so fan shouted "Oi, Perry! "(prompting Mr Groves to turn around)
"You ugly cunt!" This was an Arsenal fan by the way, and is one of the funniest things I've ever experienced, back when football was an inexpensive, funny, witty, bizarre experience, and not the joyless, ridiculous, farce it is today.

Furthest right - legs dangling down.
