I see this as a social tragedy. The irony here is that bird is obviously more well-abled than any other bird in that he could move forests, but he simply could not fly. Yet he chose to use his talents in a last-ditch effort to experience what is "normal" for a bird. I agree with the message of doing whatever it takes to achieve your dream, but if your dream is to be "normal," and social pressures to experience what is "normal" lead you to suicide, I think that is pure tragedy.
