WHAT A STRONG SCENE!IBELIEVE THIS IS THE BEST SCENE OF THE MOVIE.ELINOR FEELS RELEAVED AND AT THE SAME TIME DISAPOINTED FOR WAISTING ALL THIS TIME AWAY FROM EDWARD.HER TEARS ARE BITTERSWEET
I still remember the first time I ever watched this movie, especially this scene. I was SO shocked when Elinor burst into tears, yet I couldn't help feeling that I would do the exact same thing. Emma Thompson is amazing!
ok....i had not seen this version of sense and sensibility......and decided to watch especially this scene when eleanor is crying, after watching vicar of dibley christmas special.... and honestly i cracked up!i was laughing my head off watching her cry.... those of you who dont get the point,do watch the afore mentioned drama..its hilarious!
@19852943 I was watching that episode on Youtube and wondered what they meant. Lo and behold, there was a link to this scene. .... I then spent about 10 mintues going back and forth between Dawn French and Emma Thompson, laughing continually.
@Victorian9322 In the good old times, land lords, or, simply, lords having the material possibilities to honore their birth...avoided to exerce 'active profession' so to say earning one. I do not mean herer those who exerce the noble Service in Army.
Still today, when asked of my profession...I use to replay as 'having vocation', no prefession, as an echo of those bygone days....
You know which one I also love? The one with Keira Knightley in Pride and Prejudice when she finds out her sister ran away with Mr. Wickham. It's actually better than this one.
I really love this scene ;D

I love the fact that they don't hold back in the crying in most Jane Austen adaptations. THAT is how a real woman cries. xD

Wouldn't it be nice if we all found our very own Edward (without the bitchy financee and nasty in laws)?

I wonder, am I the only one who at first believed Edward to be played by Hugh Grant? XD Until he started talking, that is...

This scene is actually kind of funny when the sound track doesn't match.

Acting of the very top chop. Amazing how she switches between elation and sadness. Masterfully done. Emma is one sexy woman.
