  • I really love this scene ;D

  • I love the fact that they don't hold back in the crying in most Jane Austen adaptations. THAT is how a real woman cries. xD

  • I fell in love of her thanks to this scene.

  • Thumbs up if the vicar of dibley proposal scene led you here

  • @pantstelly93 Bleurrrrgggg blaaaurhg blreaurhhhg!!

  • WHAT A STRONG SCENE!IBELIEVE THIS IS THE BEST SCENE OF THE MOVIE.ELINOR FEELS RELEAVED AND AT THE SAME TIME DISAPOINTED FOR WAISTING ALL THIS TIME AWAY FROM EDWARD.HER TEARS ARE BITTERSWEET

  • Wouldn't it be nice if we all found our very own Edward (without the bitchy financee and nasty in laws)?

  • OMG, whenever I see this scene I laugh and I cry all at once!

  • I wonder, am I the only one who at first believed Edward to be played by Hugh Grant? XD Until he started talking, that is...

  • @TheProudKisshuFan

You were right - it is Hugh Grant ;)

  • I still remember the first time I ever watched this movie, especially this scene. I was SO shocked when Elinor burst into tears, yet I couldn't help feeling that I would do the exact same thing. Emma Thompson is amazing!

  • This scene is actually kind of funny when the sound track doesn't match.

  • my favourite film of ALL time. I was sobbing just as hard as Emma Thompson herself! :P

  • IT'S THE BEST SCENE OF THE MOVIE.GOOD JOB EMMA!BRILLIANT ACTING

  • she is just crying, does she have on make up

  • Unstoppable crying and greatest joy, all rolled up into one astonishing scene!

  • Emma Thompson really Knows how to Act .... Love her !

  • why is this clip dubbed in English when it's already IN English??

  • aha, makes me laugh when they all walk away. great scene :)

  • what is the music at the end of this scene i have been looking all over internet and cant find it

  • Acting of the very top chop. Amazing how she switches between elation and sadness. Masterfully done. Emma is one sexy woman.

  • ok....i had not seen this version of sense and sensibility......and decided to watch especially this scene when eleanor is crying, after watching vicar of dibley christmas special.... and honestly i cracked up!i was laughing my head off watching her cry.... those of you who dont get the point,do watch the afore mentioned drama..its hilarious!

  • @19852943 I was watching that episode on Youtube and wondered what they meant. Lo and behold, there was a link to this scene. .... I then spent about 10 mintues going back and forth between Dawn French and Emma Thompson, laughing continually.

  • I love this scene so so much!!!

  • This scene is just marvelous and always makes me cry so badly.. .

    I love this film.

  • Poor Edward can't handle a crying woman...love him anyway *sigh*

  • The way Marianne, Margaret and Mrs. Dashwood look at each other before exiting the room is priceless:)

  • it is the greatest cry in movie-history

  • @KathaWolf Agreed!!

  • @KathaWolf

Have you seen Becoming Jane? Now that is the greatest cry in movie-history

  • @KathaWolf I think that award goes to Marion Cotillard in La Vie En Rose but this one was great!!

  • What did he mean by active profession?

  • @Victorian9322 In the good old times, land lords, or, simply, lords having the material possibilities to honore their birth...avoided to exerce 'active profession' so to say earning one. I do not mean herer those who exerce the noble Service in Army.

Still today, when asked of my profession...I use to replay as 'having vocation', no prefession, as an echo of those bygone days....

  • @sinoples so he's saying he will work?

  • @Victorian9322 Alas! I deduce he works already.....

  • @KathaWolf

You know which one I also love? The one with Keira Knightley in Pride and Prejudice when she finds out her sister ran away with Mr. Wickham. It's actually better than this one.

  • thats the scene which almost made me cry i still think I manage to hold it... NAY!

  • Same with me!

  • i just finished watching this movie and this was probably my favorite scene. it made the whole movie :D i was so shocked when she started crying
