He even put secret things hidden in disney land and on his rides. @krazyzark I disagree with Belle having Stockholm Syndrome. She didn't let Beast push her around and didn't start liking him until he started changing his personality. Also Belle wasn't at the castle when Gaston went to kill Adam (Beast. Betcha didn't know that, did ya? ;) ). She was at home with her dad, so his motivation wasn't to save her. Anyways, sorry to get all preachy. XD Kinda silly, but this is one of my favorite movies and Belle is like my hero.

They were originally going to make Beauty and the Beast a much creepier movie, but they changed a lot of things to make it less dark*. I THINK this scene was going to be much more gruesome (like having a bunch of skulls where he falls) but when they changed it they left the animation bit with his eyes.

I was reading reviews on the movie and someone brought up that how do we know Gaston died in the movie, and the answer was disney never revealed whether he actually died or not but the whites of his eyes were replaced by skulls to show he probably died... there's another part... when Gaston does "Belle is mine!" It was originally supposed to say, "Time to die!" but afterwards, disney thought that was bad. Go look, you can tell time timing is a lil' off

My kids and I were watching this in the car when it first came out years ago. My oldest daughter said dad he had pirate heads in his eyes. She say it in real time yo. That's not really all that creepy. If you look real close, a lot of cartoons had stuff like that added in. It's just a cool way to play with the shot and also get some foreshadowing in there.

There was also a scene in Fern Gully where the smoke from the mountain formed the shape of the Grim Reaper for a split second. It's a subliminal way to foreshadow the story.
