I can't decide if this is really brave or just utterly bizarre! Yes, the orchestra is on, but the Vegas/ Anka "happy sounds" are really at odds with the lyrics. Maybe both. Brave yet utterly bizarre. I don't care for it.
@pearljamporch O fuck you. Of all the genres in the world, rock is the one that really shouldn't have any sacred cows. By making this cover Paul Anka is more rock than you traditionalists.
This is unnecessary cover. What's the purpose? This genre can't convey the energy of rock/grunge music. If it was just for fun, Richard Cheese did such type of absurd covers of almost every metal band. I just don't get it.
@snupcho My guess? To show just how well written the song is to begin with, and to introduce that to an audience that wouldn't pay attention to grunge and alt rock otherwise. Same thing with his nirvana cover.
@snupcho to introduce the poetry of the music to people who wouldn't otherwise appreciate it. The same reason a lot of rock artists might cover an older song.
in the modern popular music (pop-rocko eeven) that greatest difference is THE SOUND, mora than the notes. so you can make a cover but you take the responsibility of the sound. that here is quite good done, but in relationtion with the song in simply terrible.

Huge Soundgarden fan but this is just great version. The whole album is superb. The orchestra is just dead on, they don't miss a beat. Wonderful!

Amazing performance. At first it really seems like he's feeling it (love the string charts), then, midway in, he proves he doesn't have a clue!

tengo el disco, es espectacular....los arreglos para orquesta son muy buenos.
En gustos no hay nada escrito, pero cuando tocas algun instrumento se siente mejor.
