  • my dad was a engineer on this ship,i am putting together a film of all the clips of it for him hes now 70 and talks about the days he worked on there all the time.

  • Rule, Britannia. I love that song. Who would burn Queen Elizabeth? Why? Queen Elizabeth was so gorgeous. Someone tell me why!

  • Queen Elizabeth may have pass form this world. But she still lives, in spirit.

  • even though it was a little blury i still thought it was amazingly good. ive never seen footage of the seawise burning before. u made my day :) thanks

  • Ocean Liners is all that I am. I am all of me. My life revolves around Ocean Liners & I love Queen Mary & Queen Elizabeth.

  • Both Great Liners gone. Normandie & Queen Elizabeth destroy by fire. Normandie by carelessness. Queen Elizabeth by arson

  • Poor Queen Elizabeth, good thing that Queen Mary didn't suffered this fate and she was preserved in Long Beach... :)

  • correction: the QM is in Long Beach,NOT LA

  • Im a little confused...........is this ship named after Queen Elizabeth 1 ( who had Mary Queen of Scots beheaded) or Queen Elizabeth 2 (present reigning monarch). The same question could be asked for the new Queen Mary 2, as opposed to the Queen Mary 1, currently serving as a restaurant and museum in LA.

  • She was named for Queen Elizabeth, the consort to King George VI (Queen Elizabeth II's mother), just like the Queen Mary was named for King George V's wife.

  • Interesting side note to the naming of the Queen Mary I, she was to be called the Queen Victoria. However the Chairman of Cunard was busy kissing the King's ass with flowery compliments of the name before he got to it, that King George V seeing an opportunity said the Queen will be delighted to have the ship named after her. Leaving the Chairman high and dry. So RMS Queen Victoria became RMS Queen Mary at that moment. Lots of fun!!!! So he asked permission to name it Queen Mary instead.

  • This story is most likely apocryphal. The names considered for the first QM were King George, Queen Mary & Britannia.

  • @olympicnut This could well be. It was something that I had read once. So it is hard to say for sure if the story I mentioned below is as accurate as I my have presented. If true how fun that would have been. Like wise most things I read about the Canard ships seem to indicate the names you put forward. The Choice of Queen Mary, I believe was a great one.

  • @stegaflaps The Queen Elizabeth was not referred to as the Queen Elizabeth 1 till after Queen Elizabeth 2 came on line. The First was named for Elizabeth the consort of George VI. The Elizabeth 2 is not named for Elizabeth II but rather after the first Queen Elizabeth the Liner. As is the Mary 2 is named after the first Mary the liner.

  • I see..............thats very important because I always thought the QE2 was named after Elizabeth Regina (Queen Elizabeth the second) the current reigning monarch, not the consort to King George the sixth.

  • Actually you are both right. The Queen Elizabeth actually burned twice. The Queen Elizabeth burned in 1946 while being turned back into an oceanliner. The second time she burned was when she was the Seawise University in 1972

  • The RMS Queen Elizabeth did not burn! It was the SS Seawise University that burned in Hong Kong.

  • Yes, the Queen Elizabeth did burn.

  • No, the ship that burned was indeed Seawise University. No longer did she carry the name Queen Elizabeth. So technically it was the Seawise.

  • yea, they did change the name to the Seawise University, but it was the Queen Elizabeth, sorry I thought you meant something else.

  • same ship!!!!!!!

  • I Give You A 5/5 Rating because I Like Your use Of The Footage. I Didnt Know That Footage Existed Till You Made This, Well Done

  • i like the fact someone posted a video of the queen elizabeth cause i get to see what my mom was on when she moved to america

  • nothing wrong with this video. hes spent the time and made the effort to make it, no need for pointless criticisms

  • I like your use of old early 20th century music!

  • I admire the effort but its very blury and the audio is generally of a very poor quality. I suggest you take the original idea back to the drawing board and have another attempt.

  • what a shame this beauty was destroyed :(

  • C'Mon man! He's just trying to make a nice video!

  • Then use his own way of picture sildeshow. Copy other ppl footage?

  • well hey in all fairness the person who he probably recorded this from doesn't own the copyrights to it either and there is no copyright certificates before these type of videos so in all fairness he hasn't done anything wrong

  • is youtube free accessable from china??

  • I am not from China. I'm chinese

  • oh okay

  • I'm not from china

  • only in the begining

  • It's so blury
