The US Government has not once asked the Iraqi government to go before the UN and ask for a UN sanctioned peacekeeping force to substitute the US forces there. Such a change would be the biggest anti-insurgency method possible by removing the argument used by the insurgents, and wouldn't require a single additional bullet to be fired.
This only leads me to conclude that we are in Iraq under the leadership's own interests, not for the good of any country.
