So every time I try to download these files, they download as ".ipsw" and they don't work properly. I have tried changing the .ipsw to .zip and unzipping them, but still no luck. I'm running on 10.5.7 OS X. Any tips?

Hey,

you will need to download the firmwares with firefox. If you download it with safari then it will save the firmware as a folder or a zip file and you would have wasted a lot of time because that folder is useless. I have done it many times, very annoying!! Firefox will save it as an .ipsw so it all good :) Please Subscribe, Thanks George

You can find Libusb for 10.4.11 from my website in the downloads section. From what I have heard from other people it is not very stable and so it is up to you if you want to do it. I would do it on Windows.

With some computers or Macs they work straight away without any modding with the IOUSB drivers or the Read-Me paper, I'm not sure why but it does. I guess me and you were lucky, lol. Other computers do need to follow instructions, as I said before, I'm not really sure.

Hmm, LogoMe did have an update and I presumed that it was for the iPod Touch 2G. As you may know I don't have an iPod Touch 2G so I can't tell if it was updated to make it compatible for the 2G but from what you have said it wasn't. I don't know how to fix this. LogoMe may be your problem but I can test if it works on another 2G because I don't have one.

Do you have 10.5.6. It could be the problem when your computer doesn't recognize your iPod in DFU mode. It only affects some computers. You will need to use the instructions in the description near the bottom. Then you can try again.

Hey I have an ipod touch 2G and am using a mac on 10.4.11(Tiger) here's what happened --->

- I downloaded libusb for tiger, that worked

- then i followed all the instructions in your video and everything was working fine, apart from my ipod's screen didn't go white.

- Then when it got to restoring via itunes a message popped up saying: " The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1600)."

Ok, so you say your USB ports don't work now. This has got to be something with the libusb. But you also say they work when you turn your computer off right?? This means that you're iPod is probably already in DFU mode it's just that your computer can't recognize it. Hmm, Try making your USB ports work. I'm not sure how to do this, you say turning computer off. I don't have 10.4.x but it will work if you can get the libusb and your USB ports to work correctly.

My usb port that I use for the ipod stops working after i try to go into dfu, but it works fine and recognizes my ipod (after i restart it by holding home/ sleep wake) when I restart the computer. I guess this is strange right? And what exactly is the libusb? Alrighty. I really need some help. With the DFU mode thing. I did it, and whenever I try (I do it with exact timing to your video) the system shows the apple logo and starts to restart. I keep holding down and letting go at the right times and all but then itunes dosn't recodnise my ipod at all. hellp pleease.

What you need to do it hold the home and power buttons for around 10 seconds until the screen goes black. [If the apple boot logo comes on then you have held the buttons for too long] When the screen goes black then you need to let go of the power and then keep holding the home until iTunes recognizes it.

Hey,

I would try to restart it by holding the home and power buttons until it boots up again. If it still does not boot up then unfortunately you will have to restore it to Official 2.2.1 by putting your iPod into DFU mode so iTunes recognizes it. You can then re-jailbreak it.
