nice vid, i love the feeble attempts to discredit your logic.
the key is "infinite possibilities", and that is exactly what the creator would have to pull out of it's magical hat. knowing where every atom is going every nanosecond. and... not only knowing this, but predisposing that knowledge into infinite possibilities.
However the Christian belief is that God exists outside of and independent of space and time. In another dimension, if you want to use that term. Since He exists outside of space and time and He Himself **created** space and time, I don't see how this little argument has any applicability
god doesnt try to correct bad things he gives us free will. he has know idea what we will do cause he gave us free will. and to proove you this thats why there is a devil he told god he want to force people to worship him god said no so the devil try to make people to worship him. then god kick him out just like what he will do to u
Imagine you have every possible document, with every possible combination of letters on a page, and you know every single one off by heart. If you adjusted any single one of the documents slightly, you would NO LONGER have the entire collection - you would have 2 the same and one missing. That is a similar analogy. If you knew and owned every possible universe, like God, then adjusting a slight thing would mean you have 2 copies of one, and not the full collection any more.
I know there is every reason not to assume every universe exists - but to be very honest, there are so many flaws that the following is COMPLETELY correct:-
IF there are no other universes,
THEN I am more benevolent and have more imagination than God, if he exists.
How do you define flaws? Is it possible that there is some aspect of life or the universe that you don't understand that God would? Even a worldly philosopher like Socrates understood that hardship is better for us and makes our character stronger.
@jcolby519 ~ lol, "socrates a worldly philosopher"? he barely left athens greece.
a favorite quote of mine by socrates, plato makes it look like socrates quoted it from an earlier time, but doesn't reveal the author.
from "the republic", book vii ~ "as being is to becoming, so is pure intellect to opinion. and as intellect is to opinion, so is science to belief, and understanding to the perception of shadows.
Maybe I should have clarified that what I meant by worldly was that (from what we know) he tended to focus on this world rather than on religion. So you essentially are backing my point that he was not a religious man. Not sure if you meant it as a criticism of my argument, but my point is that hardships in the world should not be considered "flaws" in the world, because even Socrates (who, as you reiterated, was not religious) thought that hardship can be beneficial. (from Republic, Book IX)
@jcolby519 ~ well actually, socrates and the ancient greeks were very spiritual. they didn't think it was "mythology" when they were venerating the gods. "mythology" was introduced by christians, as was the pagan holiday of April 1st turned into "fools day" by christians.
yes, socrates, like anyone sees the benefit in taking the long road to intellect, but what does that have to do with what some unknown "god" understands? like a socrates deduction, this video is based on what we DO know.
My point was that his philosophy was less religiously focused and more worldly focused. Obviously, he and the people of their time had religious views, but you seem to be missing my main point.
As you may have read above, I was discussing with LyriMetacurl about the apparent "flaws" of the world and how that proves that God does not exist. He did not answer my question about what he considered a flaw, so I mentioned that difficulty in the world is not a flaw, but rather a means towards growth.
@jcolby519 ~ also the scorates parable in book v, i believe, about the "shadows" and the light and the two worlds of intellect is fascinating. also his theory that above the sky is another higher world which is their metaphorical ocean, and that hades is beneath our oceans. worlds below and above us.
also notable, socrates' mention of being "born again" in phaedo, his idea in book II that only good should be attributed to "god" and all bad should be attributed to other means.
@jcolby519 sorry for the late reply. "Flaws" in the universe would be with respect to the treatment of consciousness, e.g. some people's lives (in wars) have been like this: "Born, then blown up by a bomb. The end". If God existed and the universe was the only place, Hell would not need to exist if "flaws" did not exist (also known as "whence cometh evil?").
However, if it is just one possibility of infinity, such events must occur and everything is flawless.
Also, I don't believe Socrates' ideas expressed in Book IX are really about intellect, but rather a holistic view of the soul and the best way that an individual should nurture it.
@jcolby519 ~ well, thanks for clearing that up, i did indeed misinterpret your comment. my response was more about your mentioning of greek literature, which you have to admit is not something you see much as a metaphor on youtube, lol.
i just finished plato's protagoras, phaedo, symposium, and the republic. socrates says a lot of things which as you know, a philosopher does. v - viii are my fave in the republic.
That is debateable. Female is not the default/main gender. Males cannot have 'evolved' from females because in a world with only females there would be no reproduction - males and females must have evolved out of a genderless species and become the humans we know today. 'He' is the impersonal pronoun applied to God since He has no gender.
OK now I've looked into the subject further, and realize that it is just diploids produce haploids and the haploids combine to produce new diploids - no mention of any particular sex being the main one. Both sexes provide a completely equal role in the generation of new life. I only decided that if one designation must be selected it should be "she" even though it is not female, but then I could also argue that "he" should be used because it is a shorter word. Ships should be called "he" also.
Well for some reason 'he' is the impersonal pronoun - when you are driving and another driver does something stupid that holds you up, don't you say "What the hell is he doing?" even if you don't know the gender?
I have no idea why ships are called 'she'. Probably because most captains were and are male and are fond of their ships just like they grow fond of women...
That "explanation" didn't really make a point; "Anything that is omniscient...will never affect EVERYTHING". Well isn't that how we suppose God works anyway?
And it is juvenile to refer to him as she. I am assuming you mean the Christian God, and since Christianity (and Judaism) come from the bible, in which God is referred to as he, that is what our religion is. Why do you (and some others, mainly women) insist on going against that? To be different or because you are a feminist supremacist?
Someone rated this as 1 star (probably it was VenomFangX the man himself, he's the only one who could have done it). Ah well, I'm not bothered. The video is just there to be viewed or shunned or whatever-the-hell anybody wants to do to it. Its message is clear, however, and that is all that really matters.

So you know what God would or wouldn't do if he existed?
jcolby519 2 years ago
yes. he would do nothing. that is the detriment of fully unlimited ability - there is only one thing to do and that is NOTHING.
LyriMetacurl 2 years ago
To have fully unlimited ability would mean that you are automatically destined to never do anything? Or is there some choice involved?
