  • she liz taylor and vivien leigh had the same kind of beauty: but for me its Lamarr all the way: the other two are pale imitations.

  • Even if it is a later film in her career (1949) she looks fabulous in color !!!!

Her blue-grey eyes are like two gems !! What a perfect face !! Cute nose !

"Her face was magnificent.... she was enough to make strong men faint" (Lana Turner)

"You didn't miss that face of hers. Oh, it was fabulous, just fabulous !" (Myrna Loy)

"As far as classical beauty is concerned you could not then find anyone to top Lamarr (Errol Flynn)

""I would have given my soul to look like Hedy lamarr" (Doris Day)

  • finally saw this movie tonight. i Really liked it! it was a very good movie, all the different agendas being threaded together, without being loose or too busy in terms of plot. i loved jake, even though he was the villain. and im never wild about ray milland.

BUT for one of the only times, i was engaged in the character Hedy was playing, i was watching Lisa, and not just swooning over Hedy the whole time. Bravo! just cant get enough of her, so happy when her movie is good enough for her

  • If she was alive today....she would be kicking every actress's a22.......today .....shes that beautiful and classy

  • Is she really 37 here?

Angelina Jolie eat your heart out....phew!

  • she is the type of woman a man has to be totally honest with and give her all the physical love he has to give to hold her , smart ,shrewd , and catty claw faithful

  • Ray didn't hate Hedy, he just said that it was difficult at times working with foreign actress's. He said the same thing about Marlene. Their european style confused him.

  • What is Hedy talking about when she said she wasn't creative in acting? In my opinion she's being a bit harsh on herself. I think she was a very creative actress, and very versatile too! :)

  • I think Hedy meant that she could do lots more than just being an actress. And better too. She was quite bored and indifferent as an actress.

  • Oh, but why? She wanted to be an actress. I always thought she liked it.

  • Yes she wanted to be one. But she rarely got good materials. Time and time went by she got bored. When she worked on her invention and got a patent for it, she said, "being scientific is much more fun than making movies". Later she stayed home, doing a few scientific experiments and she enjoyed them so much. She found another love: painting. She painted beautifully and effortlessly, she even had an exhibition of her own once. In her opinion, acting is not her forte...

  • That's unfortunate. She was very good at acting and I enjoy all of the movies I've seen her in. But there way definitely more to hdy than acting. Anyone who knows anything about her can see that.

  • I am just trying to merge Rosenbaum song with Southern Hedy? oh..You just answer on info,ha,ha. Thank you it was sweet to watch:)

  • Saucy little wench!

  • Greetings from Singapore! Goodness I never knew Hedy had been in a Southern role, and in colour too! For years I tried to imagine how Scarlett would have looked like if Hedy had played it. Now I can see it with my own eyes. My, I am not disappointed! She looks perfect! On a separate note, I am trying to draw a cartoon featurng Tallulah Bankhead inan abridged Gone w the Wind, as well as All About Eve. I hope to put them up soon.

  • What a beautiful couple: Lamarr and Milland !!!

  • Ray Milland hated her!!!

  • Really ? Why ?

  • Hedy was being a bit harsh on herself on the quote "I am a very creative person, only not in acting." I think she was a very competent actress with a flexible speaking voice, yet her acting was not without limitations. Her acting skills are apparent in COME LIVE WITH ME (1941) and H.M. PULHAM, ESQ., in which she delivers her best performances. It's sad that MGM never put her in any great movies and/or mature, difficult roles...or even a Technicolor film.

Anyway, this is a nice video.

  • ref. to your info section: well haha it works!

  • Hedy = Perfection

  • That was really mesmerizing to watch Hedy in colour! Love the Russian song too! It's a wonderful tribute! Yea..

  • Beautiful tribute!!! Hedy is so beautiful!

I think the age for the true beauty is not an obstacle. I never saw films with participation of Heddi, but I think, in the near future I will correct it!

    Thanks for this video!!!

  • Beautiful tribute, An! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to have to find this film.

  • Well, it was really a great surprise to see Hedy with this song (which is very popular in Russia)! She surely looks wonderful for 37 and I would love to see her in colour at a younger age too. For example, I like very much the way Hedy looks in "Boom Town", and I watched a colourized version as well, but it's not the same. Beautiful video, An, as always made with love to Hedy! Thank you very much!

  • scarlett ohara never looked so good

this is one of her few films ive not seen, but shes absolutely stunning

and i think the girl, the movie, the waltz and the song mix beautifully

    great as always

  • And Scarlett O'Hara was 10 years younger :)

  • You think so? I think Scarlett O' Hara was stunningly beautiful!

  • Of course O'hara is beautiful. I think it just goes with personal taste ;). Only Hedy didn't have a chance to be filmed in colors when she was at the peak of her beauty while Vivien did. :)

  • I agree with you, and I do wish Hedy would have done more colored movies. She was so attractive, but she was also an incredible actress and person. Hedy Lamarr and Vivien Leigh are my favorite actresses of that time. Both were stunning!

  • oh yes, of course i agree

i was just havin a Hedy moment, im a HUGE fan

  • Haha wait what do you agree with? I'm lost... lol

  • i agree with you that Vivien was stunning as Scarlett

but that i think Hedy was the most beautiful face ever

  • Hedy was in some way more beautiful. But there's something so vivacious and stunning about Vivien Leigh. She was so vibrant and full of spirit.

  • Haha and Hedy looks bored all the time eh? She doesn't even smile often for pictures.

  • Well, I wouldn't say "boring" but I guess she didn't smile for some pictures because back then, when someone had like a somewhat serious expression on, it was considered "sexy". But I've seen a lot of candid videos of her, and she's always smiling and happy. I also saw her on "Whta's My Line?" She strikes me as someone who was very sweet and funny.

  • no I didn't mean boring. I meant bored. Hedy is one of the most intersting women I know. But she had a sad face, very sad even when she smiled, as if there is something unsaid behind it if you know what I mean.

  • Hmmm, I never thought so. I think she was just mysterious and there was more to her than her glamourous veneer. But I don't think she was unhappy.

  • No, in fact she was very unhappy.

  • Why do you think so?

  • smiling doesn't mean happiness, being sweet and funny don't mean happiness either. An is right. Hedy was a very unhappy girl. She said, "i don't think acting is working because for me it doesn't justify my life. Music, leisure, painting, thinking, meditation appeal to me far more than acting. Or even being scientific. Yes doing science is lots more fun than making movies. I'm unhappy about being an actress. If only I knew this 20 years ago!"

  • I didn't say it meant happiness. But a lot of people regret their decisions in life. It doesn't mean they were unhappy. Sometimes people may say something (or quote something) and years later, it's interpreted incorrectly. We can't really know for sure, because we never lived when she did and we never knew her. And since I'm so fond of her, it would hurt to think she lived an unhappy life.

  • that's why. i dont live her time, only watching her gives me a sad nostalgia all the time. of course everybody has moments of being happy in life. Hedy did too. She got 2 kids whom she adored, adored her. And she never regrets anything she did in life. She is just disappointed that the film industry is never like what she expects and thus her ambition being an actress fades. There's nothing certain, but Hedy always has an unrevealed sadness inside.

  • I wouldn't say she adored her kids too much. In my honest opinion, I don't think she wanted kids. From watching her sons documentary on her, though they love her, there was a lot of bitterness and anguish.

  • She really really adored her kids. And she definitely wanted kids. But she was a very strict mother, that is she required from them all the independence and responsibility and maturity that only adults have. That gave them a hard time. But that doesn't mean that they don't absolutely love her or vice versa.

  • At least that's how I feel when I watched her documentaries, her interviews, saw her paintings and read her book, read what other people said about her. It's not that she lived a very unhappy life, only she had a too high demand for a happy life and disillusioned that it didn't turn out the way she wanted.

  • I understand, but things can be interpreted so differently when we see them in writing, on documentries (where the person is already dead), and in what others have said. Some of the things people said about her could have been exaggerated, and the documentaries might be not be 100 valid. Others may distort facts when talking about someone who is no longer living. I get what you mean though.

  • You are weirdo but WONDERFUL An! haha... well well Hedy didnt lose her looks as she got older. What a beauty!! Particularly in that green outfit. The song, though in Russian, does actually suit the Western theme, that kind of funny cliche tune you may hear in a saloon. Much enjoyed!!!!
