Danger? The organizer had tons of equipment and let hundreds of people on the beach. This type of wave had never occured before 2/13/10. How did I break my leg? A woman got caught in the wave and slammed into me. Broke right Tib/Fib repaired with metal plate and 9 screws. Am now 90+% recovered 11+ months later. I don't blame anyone. I was in the wrong place at an interesting time.

The only thing with more physical power than waves are earthquakes. So don't be surprized if you get washed at the beach, just be ready. That said, the guy with the broken leg/ankle wasn't yelling or complaining. He's even taking pictures of his own injury! Props to him for that. I guess he tried to protect his camera whan the wave hit, and missed his footing. I'd do the same with a $2000/$3000 camera.

The only thing with more physical power than waves are earthquakes. So don't be surprized if you get washed at the beach, just be ready. That said, the guy with the broken leg/ankle wasn't yelling or complaining. He's even taking pictures of his own injury! Props to him for that. I guess he tried to protect his camera whan the wave hit, and missed his footing. I'd do the same with a $2000/$3000 camera.

My sister turned this on, not really my type of movie, however I found Large Rogue Wave Accident at Mavericks Surf Contest 02/13/10 Feb 13, 2010 quite Amazing , full of action, fight scenes, betrayal, revenge and don't forget love story all packed in one. A lot of reviewers here have stated that this movie isn't realistic. Have these people ever been to a Cinema before? NO MOVIE IS REALISTIC. Ironic: At 1:59, in the background behind the man lying on the ground with the broken leg, the large sign reading "DANGER".
Even so - the organizers of this event who put all their equipment and tower in this area do have a lot of the blame. No one should've been here, and at the very least, spectators should have been prohibited from going beyond a certain point.

I've rushed big waves, I know never to turn my back on the ocean. It was foolish of these people to put themselves in harms way, but I don't feel the need 2 add insult 2 injury.
