Every song Hansard writes is not about the music, (exquisitely musical though it is,) it's about the passion. His music is passionate to an almost pagan extent.
Who are all the dumbs***ts that are talking during this performance!?!?! They should be taken out back and shot. Period. I can't stand people go to concerts and blab their f***ing mouths off the whole time because they can't go 2 seconds without hearing the sound of their own voice.
i think the overall take on this is, josh groban's voice is more controlled and balanced. he has more training and maybe (probably) a wider range. however, glen hansard's voice is so amazingly unique and intense. his performance is so more entrancing and powerful than groban's. they're both musical geniuses, but groban can really wow an audience, whereas hansard can get the audience to scream at the top of their lungs "fuck yeah." personally, i like the latter more.
after i disregard the millions of cd's he's sold in several different countries and the mass wealth he's brought in. plus singing in several languages and being compared to some of the best singers of all time. but other than that yeah, he's a total douche bag.

It's not about the musicality of it... Hansard's voice is definately not on par with, say, Josh Groban (wonderful musician as well), but it's more about the intensity of the passion and feelings that go into this piece of music.
actually i think glen hansard has an amazing voice.. strong and passionate.. and i would much rather listen to glen hansard than josh groban.. but i guess i just crave the passion and intensity you were talking about
For anyone doubting the intensity of his voice copy paste this: /watch?v=UdQhFXaUqLM

Glen over Josh any day. Groban voice is like a poetry textbook. It defeats its own purpose.

I don't know what gatorman's talking about, it's very melodic, and a really great live performance of a brilliant song.
