  • Thanks for the upload.

  • I'm diggin' this guys mind. Chilled.

  • James Simpson, the brilliant scientist whose discovers paved the way of safe, painless surgery.

Someone once asked him...."Professor Simpson, of all these discoveries you' ve made which of them was the greatest?"

He replied......" The greatest discovery I ever made was the day I discovered Jesus Christ"

  • Collins is also a scientist.

  • Refute with what? Science? Does Dawkins have an experiment that can prove that God does not exist? I'm certain Dawkins wouldn't wander into philosophy and spout a religious idea in the name of science, would he? Because Dawkins despises people confusing religion with science.

Collins has done well to say that science is science, and his faith is his faith. From science, he sees God, but he admits is a religious thought, not a scientific fact.

  • Refute with what? With Science? Has Dawkins come up with a scientific experiment to prove there is no God? He wouldn't want to argue that science can prove a metaphysical idea would he, because that would be confusing religion with science, something he deplores.

Collins has done well to say science is science, and his faith is his faith. He does not say that science proves his faith, only points to faith. Science is physical and faith is metaphysical. He allows both their proper place.

  • LMAO, Richard and Christopher? Is that a fucking joke! The greatest scientist and most influential scientist of all time read the Bible in 30 different languages, Newton. Einstein believed in a creator, though not the Christian one, he defended Christianity and refuted Atheists. If Newton and Einstein were here today Richard and Christopher would be without a career.

Greatest scientist of all time by rank:

    1.Newton

    2.Maxwell

    3.Einstein

Where are Richard and Christopher? =p

  • ogirv

I know your level of understanding about the world. I only can say that you need lot more to go to give a speculation on the topic like science and God. I feel pity for the people like you.

  • LMAO! What? I don't need to know more about Science and Theology to know I am justified in my position, though I continue to learn new things everyday, You're wrong on your assumptions about me. like I mentioned above, I can either take your word for it, or the three greatest minds in science of all time.

  • Einstein on Collins' god:

"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can change this. Animistic interpretations of religions of nature are in principle not annulled by monopolization. With such walls, we can only attain a certain self-deception; they do not further our moral efforts. On the contrary."

  • Yes he did say that, but he said that the teachings of Christianity and the ancient judicial priests have the ability to cure the ills of society. He believed in a non-personal God, the thing is that he rejected Atheism and he believed in God, our views on God can differ and it can be philosophically be debated.

  • "...the teachings of Christianity and the ancient judicial priests have the ability to cure the ills of society."

Your quote seems to have dodged my familiarity with A.E. on the topic of god. Would you kindly direct me to its source? Moreover, it would also seem to contradict his observation that beliefs in such teachings no matter how interpreted "can only attain a certain self-deception and do not further our moral efforts. On the contrary."

  • He said that if he were to believe theism he would be a quaker, and my source from that quote is:

"If one purges the Judaism of the Prophets and Christianity as Jesus taught it of all subsequent additions, especially those of the priests, one is left with a teaching which is capable of curing all the social ills of humanity." -Albert Einstein

The World as I See It (pg. 111-112) 1949

  • Nah, Einstein might be regarded as a poetic Deist. Maybe even a Pantheist. Most likely he would be an Agnostic even saying so and being quoted on it. Certainly not an Atheist though. He believed in Spinoza's God. Check that out and tell me what you think.

  • @hippo11222:

Spinoza's God was not Pantheist, rather Panentheist:

"as to the view of certain people that I identify god with nature (taken as a kind of mass or corporeal matter), they are quite mistaken" ~Spinoza

"I am not an Atheist, I don't think I can call myself a Pantheist" ~Einstein

Einstein was most likely a Panentheist, meaning nature was part of God's wholly being. Panentheism is more compareable to Deism than Pantheism.

  • Yeah I would say thats about accurate. I'm surprised though. I thought Einstein was much more poetic about the idea God. I guess he just did not believe in a personal God. HA HA. Why is Richard Dawkins calling him an Atheist? That pisses me off!.

  • Einstein was Jewish.

  • isn't there any scientist or evolutionist to refute this guy?

  • Collins is an evolutionist.
