There was a small change a few years ago and is now referred to as the electoral vote (I think you own a computer, look it up). 02/12/09 News reports Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit will be reduced from $500 per worker to $400, with couples eligible for an $800 credit, instead of $1,000 but this is not going to come in a check for the full amount. Starting in June people will be recieve $13 a week.

I used to bash people on welfare. At one time, I would've agreed with you. However, it's obvious that whatever Bush and the Republicans did the last 8 years has not worked and has in fact driven our country into a near depression. Bush has driven people to have to seek welfare assistance due to the breakdown of the economy and his failure at governing.

You not informed, the democrats pushed for relaxing the requirements for mortgages to get more minorities into homes(that they can't afford) which led to the Fannie/Freddie debaucle, this started a chain reaction to AIG and when people began liquidating their assets, that is when the Madoff's were discovered(this is where you can actually make your republican deregulation/lack of oversight argument) BTW, Barney Frank was sexing a guy named Herb Moses I believe, a manager for fannie or freddie.

Check her out -- she got into real estate speculation in Florida, took a risk that she could cash in, and then when it didn't work out, she wants the rest of us to pay for it. As for her "family" - her son is a grown man who was somehow able to get fired from a government job. You've got to be pretty incompetent to get fired from government! He also had one of the lots Henrietta bought transferred into his name and still owns it. How bout he sells it to pay the rent?

Um, I think you forgot the part about where the banks actually gave money up front to the working people to buy things that they decided they needed. Furthermore, it was laws like CRA that forced the banks to come up with ways to give loans to people who were probably not financially sound enough to repay them -- banks did not WANT to give the loans, they HAD to come up with ways to do it, like no-doc, NINJA, etc in order to comply with the law. Your friend Obama was part of that movement!

Conservatives DO understand the poor. They just don't think that bi government is the way to help. If Democrats were really interested in helping the poor, cities like Detroit, dominated by Democrat control wouldn't exist -- schools being stolen from, streets dangerous, poor ignored, and those in control taking bribes to pass laws that do nothing for their constituents. Conservatives believe in lower taxes, encouraging business to create jobs, and giving to charities that directly help.
